  1. Landsburg's rhetoric is most effective at the end, where he demonstrates that cheap foreign labor may displace some Americans temporarily, but on average it makes the whole population better off. For those who argue that we need to "save" American jobs because there is some nationalist need to do so, I point you to the steel tariffs of the 1980s. Studies showed that for every steel worker "saved", three other Americans lost their job, and steel was very expensive for no good reason.

  3. It was already refreshed a year and a half ago. I like the old design better:
  4. Nice interior. I've always wanted to drive around in a beehive.
  5. If you chop off the trunk, that actually looks like the new Suzuki Swift....
  6. From the A-Pillar forward this looks like the Civic Coupe.
  7. The back end looks worse here.
  8. You know it's bad when you walk outside when it's 25 degrees out and say, "hey, it's warm today!"
  9. The next generation Lucerne will be on Zeta, so this doesn't really matter.
  10. Well, they do call Boston "city of higher learning" for a reason... Harvard, MIT, Tufts, BC, BU, Northeastern, plus myriad smaller schools done make people more smarter.
  11. School sucks. I can't wait to get out of here. Most college students seem to dread the "real world" after graduation, but I'm all for it. The constant deadline-managing and worrying about assignments never go away! In the real world you go to work, do work, and then come home and relax.
  12. Don't like it. It looks like a Korean emulation of a real Maserati.
  13. The front is kinda gloopy and boring, but the rest is quite nice. Fabulous interior... better than the CTS I think.
  14. Technically, yes. But I think this type of market is closer to something like a city subway system--having competing subway lines with their own tracks and stations is grossly inefficient. In this case, consumers have to buy either receiver and cannot recieve the rival company's stations without buying a different receiver. By merging, consumers will most likely be better off with more stations and lower costs.
  15. This doesn't make sense; the GMNA-designed Zeta Lucerne is being developed as we speak.
  16. Yeah, especially given how heavy the CTS is. Cadillac Europe is really trying hard... too bad they keep failing.
  17. Yeah, the styling on this car is pretty terrible. What's the difference between this and the S-Max?
  18. I don't like the back too much--too high and fiddly. The interior looks like it has some great features, but it looks cramped with little storage space.
  19. That's pretty revolting. The interior looks like the one in the new Lancer.
  20. That's one strange looking little car. Where's the Swift sedan?
  21. The Ep2 Lacrosse will be identical in both countries.

    Snow!

Well, the official total here was 21 inches. They didn't cancel classes here, but they do a good job of clearing the paths and roads. How much did everyone else get?
