Industry News: China Considers Cutting EV Subsidies
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Unless everyone is pumping at 100%, which they aren't, oil producers can increase production faster than Chinese industry can increase car sales. Furthermore, as the price of oil goes up, indirect industry tends to slow. The oil prices going up rapidly is one of those Series of Unfortunate Events that helped to cause the last big economic meltdown. Socialism isn't the issue.. corruption is.- 14 replies

Industry News: China Considers Cutting EV Subsidies
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Absent global strife, oil prices at $150 - $200 a barrel become a check valve because overproduction starts to kick in and there are now enough players for one to play the spoiler and overproduce at those prices to bring the prices per barrel down.- 14 replies

The one thing that surprised me about @William Maley's review is his statement that the car is super quiet inside. I haven't driven this version of Sonata, but prior versions had some road and engine noise issues. So assuming Will's observation is correct, then Hyundai has gone on a quiet tuning quest.

Industry News: China Considers Cutting EV Subsidies

being a controlled economy, they can slowly increase the price of gasoline. take the profits and use them to subsidize electric charging station installations.- 14 replies

No, because it connects sometimes. It's not even really out of date. I'm on the newest version of Android. I just won't get any future updates to android.
-
Yes. It's more for the social media aspect. For the posting of reviews and reveals, I would still use my Sony Alpha A6000 that I love, but its connection to my phone is beyond terrible. It only connects about 25% of the time which makes it difficult to snap a picture and post to instagram or facebook. Plus, it would be good for situations where I think I might need a camera but I'm not going to pack the big camera, so I can just take that attachment.
-
I really like the look. I'd get it in the 2.0T of course.

I'm really waiting for the Z3, I want the camera attachment. If I don't get that, then I'm going with a new Pixel XL

I'm on an 810 I think. I have like 5 different sets of bluetooth headphones

Welcome to C&G. Hope you'll settle in nicely here. We have a few US Jeep drivers and at least two who once had Liberty CRDs.

What gearbox is used in the 2005 Liberty/Cherokee?
Drew Dowdell replied to jeepsterkj's topic in Jeep
What is likely going on is that the torque limitation applies only in certain gears, so the ECU will torque manage the output in those gears to prevent damage. So while you might be getting full torque in 1st gear, you won't get it in 5th or 6th gear where things get more delicate. This is just a hypothesis. I don't see any evidence of Jeep using an Aisin BG6 in the Liberty, and furthermore, the BG6 appears to be a front-wheel drive transmission as it is used in the Patriot and Compass CRD overseas. It's also possible that Daimler underrated the transmission as the German companies tend to do with a lot of their capability specs. -
I never got anything close to that with my Nexus 6P when even when it was new. I don't know why I keep ending up with these borked phones. Even my work iPhone 6s has issues. Physically, my phones are museum pieces in lack of dings or cracks. They just run frustratingly bad. The only phone I've had that ran great was my old blackberry, but that's because there weren't any apps to use.
-
im going to have to replace my Nexus 6P really soon. I'm hoping it can hold out till the Moto z3 (not the Z3 play) comes out next month.

Didn't we have a blizzard there that year? I think that's the year @William Maley had a Miata with snow tires as his press car for the show.- 10 replies

Steam trains "rolling coal" are done for show these days. Back in the day, steam engine crews took pride in running extremely clean fires with very little soot.

that's what she said....

But in this case, are they wrong about what they're complaining about?

I disagree that the greenhouse has to be smaller than the sedan, I disagree that the rear seat has to be small. Even the roofline bit, while not wrong, is not a rule.... but I agree with most other things. A Coupe Deville was anything but sporty... but it was, somehow, marginally sportier than the Sedan Deville.

My comics finally out, check it out and share!
Drew Dowdell replied to Zane Wylder's topic in The Lounge
yeah, that's what I'd do. -
Plymouth was because there was no point in marketing low cost sedans and minivans that were identical in content and price to Dodge. Olds was a mistake, it was the most technologically advanced division at the time outside of Cadillac. If nothing else, Olds should have been merged into Saturn in order to shed the name baggage. By the time Saturn died, they no longer did anything special. Everything they built with the exception of the Astra could be bought at the same price at another GM dealership Saab was just excess capacity that only a few fanbois wanted to keep around. Pontiac had some special models, but largely survived on the $199 down / $199 a month G6 leases, and it simply wasn't sustainable in that capacity. At the time, GM was forced to flood the market with cars simply to keep up with their union and capital obligations. Ford was doing the same with Mercury and the lower end of their car lineup. Ford and Pontiac both were dumping their small and mid-size sedans onto the Federal Government. To that end, there is still excess capacity out there. Lordstown is only about 50% capacity even when Cruze production is maxed out, I don't even know what it is down to now. Lansing is about to get a whole lot more room. VW Chattanooga apparently has room for more. The list goes on.

You can express your viewpoint in more appropriate ways. It's the language, not the sentiment, that I object to. And in reply to your pre-edited comment.... Let's not get hyperbolic about if it's dangerous to ask the community if that type of comment is appropriate here. You couldn't get such language past the moderators at Edmunds for example.
