Genesis News: 2019 Genesis G70 To Start From $35,895

Are you confusing Genesis with Infiniti? Infiniti has a rebadge of the GLA.... and it's much more attractive than the Benz original. -

I had to remove the Genesis press release from being embedded in the story because it was causing HTML issues on the site. If you wish to read the original press release, I placed a link at the end of the story. -
Oil change cost per change go up, but the time between oil changes has been increasing. I get 7,500 miles between oil changes in the Honda and up to 10,000 miles in the Buick. My old 2004 CTS would do 12,000 miles before it was down to 10% oil life, but that got a lot of highway miles. Same goes for other maintenance items as well. Many manufacturers are moving to ceramic brakes. I just did my first brake job on the Buick.... at 80,000 miles. It cost $600~ for 4 rotors and pads... but once in 80k miles, I can't be mad about it. I never changed the brakes in the 48k miles I had the CTS and when I had them checked before turning it in, they said they had a lot of life left. I remember my old Cutlass barely making 25k miles between brake pads. My ex's Grand Am was similar. I don't mind more expensive maintenance as long as it is significantly less frequent.

Why isn't MB held to this same standard for the CLA/GLA AMG? Or Audi for the RS3? -

The A-Class is a FWD platform and a little bird told me they suck. The A-Class, while much improved over the previous generation, is not that much improved to be competing in the G70, Q50/60, 3/4-series playground. The C-Class is only good when you option it up into the $50s... otherwise you're getting plastic seats (still a possibility at $50+k) and none of the interesting finishes. -

This is a fantastic package at that price and Genesis knows it. Cadillac better be paying attention. -

My expectation (purely my own hypothesis) is that it will be officially branded CT5 V-Series/Sport rather than just V. Otherwise, you're right. -
That's just a test theme. You're not supposed to be on that one. Scroll to the bottom of any page and change your theme to CG Default

None of those cars are lousy when they have 300+ hp. Lousy are the ones with tiny displacement turbo 4s that get overworked trying to keep up. Yes, even my lil Encore is hindered by its power train. I'll take a 300hp engine in it any day.- 19 replies

Yes, because as price goes down, demand goes up. I know what you're getting at, but your cause and effect are reversed. Right now there are multiple major companies gearing up to make major increases in the capacity to manufacture batteries. That will not only increase supply, but increase economies of scale, dropping the price. Right now the cost of the batteries is said to be close to one third the price of the Bolt. For argument sake, let's say the Bolt is $36k on average before tax breaks. If GM can drop that price $6k or more due to battery costs dropping, that makes the car much more affordable and potentially demand go up. -
And now the latest rounds of CVTs are going to have artificial steps in them to fool people into thinking they are regular automatics. I wonder if someone who is efficiency minded could go get those steps removed from the program to get ultimate efficiency.

Even the most American Made vehicles will see a price increase. Just the older tariffs on steel and aluminum were going to increase the price of an Avalon by $1700.... that's before the tariffs that just happened this week.

BMW never stopped making I6es... so Mercedes is just following them. Regal, Lacrosse, XTS, XT5, Enclave, Acadia, Impala, Traverse, Fusion, Taurus, Flex, Edge, Explorer, MKX, MKZ, Continental, S90, XC90, CLA AMG45, RLX, MDX, Maxima..... off the top of my head... all have 300+ available horsepower in a FWD chassis..- 19 replies

again, it's the batteries. Take away the batteries and the powertrain would be cheaper in an EV.
