  1. I'm not saying not to put a 2.0T in vehicles, but I prefer a V6 for the smoothness and better power delivery.
  2. these "only" charge at 250kw max, but Electrify America's charge at 350kw max. So EA's still will charge faster? Porsche claims 60 miles in 4 minutes... that's the same charge rate as Telsa's 75 miles in 5 minutes, but Tesla is 100kw lower.
  3. Less than 18 months ago, I put a new Bosche AGM battery in the Toronado. Yesterday it wouldn't start... stone dead. No biggie, I can back it out of the garage on gravity power and jump it. Wouldn't take a jump. Pull the battery and have it tested. It fails the test and starts leaking something on their battery machine. They didn't have any Bosche AGM batteries in my size to replace it with under warranty, so I ended up with a Champion AGM and a trickle charger for $0 out of pocket. He was saying that older trickle chargers don't work well on AGM batteries, so that's why he got me the new one.
  4. This. There aren't many exciting looking crossovers out there. Plenty of nice ones, but not many exciting ones.
  5. They've canceled the Airbus A380 you know... double-decker is already passé. Or maybe you're thinking Megabus
  6. I hope and wonder if this isn't a bit of a headfake. Maybe Chrysler is finally getting a Pacifica based crossover?
  7. Acura was arguably one of the first. What we really need are more crossover sedans.
  8. You'd think they'd do that when the MKC got its refresh last year.
  9. Such a slow news day today. hardly anything to write about
  10. Pebble Beach could mark the debut of a nearly production-ready version of the Acura Precision concept. The concept debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show and previewed Acura's Precision Crafted Performance design theme first seen in production on the 2019 Acura RDX. While there are (hopeful?) rumors that the 4-door coupe will wear the name Legend, there is not enough evidence to support them. What that means for Acura's aging RLX sedan is anyone's guess. Also coming is an updated Acura TLX with a Type-S version, a new Acura MDX, and rumor has it even the ZDX may be making a return. All of these could debut over the next 12 to 18 months, but Pebble Beach is in August, so we'll just have to sit tight until then. View full article

  12. Probably going to be an XT7 to fill your wish anyway
  13. There is probably an XT7 coming on the Traverse platform too.
  14. @dfelt how about now
  15. UPS uses some electric van I don't recognize in downtown Pittsburgh for deliveries. USPS uses fleets of Promasters. Fedex is mainly Sprinters or Transits. The Sprinters don't seem to hold up against rust, though that's not a powertrain deficiency.
  16. Maybe... but I think they're just not going to have Stow-n-go on AWD models.
  17. That's a bit of a mirage. The lithium ion batteries are still susceptible to damage when charging fast if they keep charging fast over 90% capacity. It's not that charging fast kills them, it's that charging fast when they're close to full capacity kills them. That has always been the case. The difference now is that the chargers can communicate with the battery and automagically slow the flow of electricity as the battery nears full capacity. This is why cars like the Bolt can add 90 mile of range in 30 minutes, but a full charge take longer than just multiplying that out. From this blog, you can see that the Bolt starts to automatically regulate the down the flow of energy at 50% capacity and again at 70% capacity. It is highly likely that Tesla will be doing the same thing here and the 1,000 miles of range in 60 minutes is an "Up to" and "under ideal conditions" type of rating. Not everyone will see that unless their battery pack is at 1% and it is a 68 degree day.
  18. Yea, it makes me wonder what they're going to do in order to add AWD. They already don't have stow-n-go on the Hybrid model, so maybe they're modifying that one into having AWD.
  19. The looks are growing on me too.... I'm just disappointed with the interior. It's not up to the level of design sophistication as the Aviator is... even if you don't like the styling of the Aviator's interior, it is a much more complex and interesting design to look at. The XT6 is rather generic.
  20. It can. Tesla and GM alter their charging rate as the battery gets full. Over 90% capacity and the charging rate slows down in order to prevent damage. As noted above, the Tesla will also now pre-warm their battery when it detects via the navigation system that it is on its way to a supercharger. This will allow the battery to accept a charge more rapidly.
  21. The Chrysler Pacifica is often considered the best of a very small market. There are only five mini-vans left on the market, and only one of those has all-wheel drive optional, the Toyota Sienna. That stat could be changing if rumors about the Chrysler Pacifica prove true. According to Automotive News, Chrysler is hard at work on an AWD option for the Pacifica. While not officially confirmed by Chrysler, the union chief for the Windsor plant where Pacifica is built appears to have spilled the beans. If AWD does come to the Pacifica, it may not be until the 2021 model year. Adding AWD would be likely help to boost sales in the North East US and in Canada. Chrysler moved 118k Pacificas in 2018 vs. 151k Dodge Caravans which sell at a lower price. Combined, the two minivans are 56% of the total minivan market. View full article

  23. Currently, the least expensive way to get into a 3-row Cadillac was to pony up $76 kilo-dollars for a base Cadillac Escalade. Even then, check too many boxes on the option sheet and the price could easily head well into the $80k range. When the Cadillac XT6 hits dealership later in couple months, that line in the sand will fall by over $20k. Cadillac will begin taking orders on the XT6 later this month with a base price starting at $53,690. That gets you a front-wheel drive Premium Luxury model. The XT6 Sport with standard all-wheel drive starts at $58,090 (including destination charge for both). All XT6 models are powered by a 3.6 liter V6 producing 310 hp and a 9-speed automatic transmission shifting power to the wheels. Active fuel management and Start/Stop are standard. The Sport model features standard Continuous Damping Control suspension. You can read more about the Cadillac XT6 from our coverage of the reveal at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. View full article
