A compliment to Cheers & Gears

but C&G is a special source. It's the combination of insiders, auto spys, and car nerds that make this place special.

SPY SHOTS! 2009/10 Opel Insignia (Vectra)
But Toyota "styles" the front end to look like a snow plow so it appears shorter.

Hmm, I was able to do 21 in an 85 Toronado with the 307 @ 65. have you released the parking brake? edit: Oh wait. Does the Cutlass have a 4-speed or 3-speed? My Toro had a rebuilt 4-speed with overdrive.

Have you gotten the Cutlass tuned up and a carb adjustment yet? Even a 307 should be good for 23-25 highway if you're not racing it.

That's kinda why I recommend the Cutlass. Manual was available, but rare. Might be hard to find, but not impossible. Just stay away from the 3.4 DOHC, it's a good engine as long as you luv it long time, but it's pricey to repair. Take a look at that Cutlass I linked you to for $3995. It's the 3.1 and automatic, but it's a red convertible and will likely be fairly reliable. Mine lasted at least till 160k before I traded it on the CTS... and that was with the 3.4 DOHC. Stick with a 3800 and you'll probably be ok. Yes there were some bad ones out there, but they've been mostly weeded out by now. The 3.1 is ok, but it's a bit of a slug in these cars. Point of advice. If you do get a W-body, and it's a coupe with the vertical door handles, start junkyard shopping for another pair ASAP. It wasn't a bad design, but the handles were made out of pot metal and can snap fairly easily. Worst case scenario you can still get the full mechanism from the dealer for about $125. I've spotted them on Ebay too. It's not hard to replace the handle on your own with very basic tools.

2008 North American International Auto Show
two years ago I booked a room in the Ren Center about 2 weeks before the show.... wasn't terribly expensive either

Well that's two strikes against the Miata then....but seriously. get an old civic inside of your price range. once you start earning more money then aim for the miata or the 318i. I know you won't take most of our advice, but a W-body would suit you just fine for now. They're reasonable on gas, very reliable with the 3800, terrible resale so you can pick one up cheap, relatively inexpensive to repair, and reasonably safe. Perhaps something like a 1994 Cutlass Supreme Convertible or a Pontiac GrandPrix coupe

Malibu...Oh Malibu, where art Thou?
OMG! WTF?! GM has to plan around people who's lease expires in November?! What about the unlucky ones who's lease expires in October? OR... last January? FWIW, most leasing companies will allow you to extend your lease a month or two. I know GMAC will allow me to extend mine... especially if I'm buying another GM.

Would you let someone in your lane or stop to help?
I will help anyone I can. I am generally courteous in my driving, but I will be extra nice to GM owners... especially other Cadillac owners.

they just undid the benefits of all altima hybrids sold ever.- Oh Nooos! Another Toyota recall!
Autoblog Today, Lexus announced a recall on 2006-model-year GS 300 and IS 250/350 models. Approximately 34,000 cars are involved in the recall over two fuel pipes in high-stress areas that can crack over time. Only one case has been reported, with no accidents, the company says. The recall involves both rear- and all-wheel-drive versions of the GS and IS. Owners will receive notifications in the mail in December and can visit their Lexus dealer to have newly designed fuel pipes installed at no charge.- So that's what the G stands for...

How about we pretend that G stands for GrandPrix- LEAKED LS9 PICTURES!!!!
I think the most important question is.... will it fit in a CTS?- LAIAS: 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid
I'm not sure a diesel would work well in this type of application. Don't diesels object to frequent start/stops?- LAIAS: 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid
In developing these transmissions, I'm hoping that Chrysler was left outside a locked door, beating on it and yelling "Hey guys!!! LET ME IN!.... COME ON! This isn't funny! GUYS?! OK, it's getting really cold out here.... please let me in guys!"- CTS, Malibu, Corvette make Car and Driver 10best
has there been anything exciting in that catagory other than the initial release of the LX cars in say... the past 30 years?- Autoweek loves the New G8
BMW 5-series Interestingly, I noticed the 7-series has night vision. I don't know if it displays it via a HUD or on a NAV screen. edit: Oh you said GM vehicles..... well..... BMW is doing it... it must be good.- Hybridization for handling - the G-M Differential
thank you, that's why I asked..... perhaps your graphic could use some sort of key to clarify. I still find it hard to follow your picture. I don't know how detailed you intend your graphic to be in terms of packaging, but could I make another suggestion? I follow the reasoning against hub wheel motors. For packaging reasons, could the motors be mounted further away from the differential and have power transfered via additional drive shafts? Motors don't care which direction they are oriented. They could be mounted semi-vertically behind the rear seats with their output shafts facing down towards the differential.- 2008 MT Car of the Year Award goes to...
read everything please The difference between the CTS and the 3-series in terms of handling is so marginal that it would only be noticed on the track. I even bolded it for you.- CTS, Malibu, Corvette make Car and Driver 10best
ya know, if this list is true, then GM bumped off the Chrysler 300 and the Infiniti G35. Here's the 2007 list. 2007 BMW 3-series 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 2007 Chrysler 300 2007 Honda Accord 2007 Honda Fit 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan 2007 Mazda MX-5 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 2007 Porsche Boxster and Cayman 2007 Volkswagen GTI Which really makes me think that C&D is using categories... since Malibu would be the replacement for 300 and CTS would be the replacement for G35.- OK Boyz, Leaving for Switzerland tonight.
no! please!? take me with you!- CTS, Malibu, Corvette make Car and Driver 10best
LXes are old news... and that interior..... Altima doesn't bring anything new to the table that wasn't there in the previous version..... 'cept maybe it's ability to catch fire from a stray cigarette butt. - Farewell Taurus and Nissan...
