1. Since the subject of this thread is the Malibu LTZ, I suggest you trade your CTS for one of those if the cancel button is that big a deal. *strangely the first CTSes did have their cruise on the wheel, then it was later removed.
2. BMW just pays the CAFE fine every year because it can afford to.
3. From purely anecdotal evidence, it seems like the old-school chevy drivers are still buying the Impala <retail sales up recently>. It's the normally import drivers that are going for the Malibu.
4. 2-mode is simpler, engine agnostic, platform agnostic, fits in the space of a normal transmission, allows greater speeds in electric only mode <40 instead of 25>, and allows a 5,000lb SUV to get 22mpg highway..... and you don't see how it's better than toyota's?!
5. Chevy is the best selling brand... there have been more Chevy's sold since 1911 than Toyotas.
6. Given recent events, this is an excellent quote for this board.
7. right.... good idea to close your ears to the people who actually care about the company.... May all your feedback come from BMWTrend and Honda & Driver.....that way all you'll have to do is sell rebadged Accords and 3-series and not have to deal with all this pesky "original thought" stuff. I am fast learning to not care about GM anymore. If GM can't help itself with the technology it has on the shelf today, it doesn't deserve to go on.
8. You really don't follow the news do you? The Lacross II will be here before either new Impala would and Buick is moving upmarket with this new LaCrosse.
9. I can see it now.. Buick's new spokesman, Richardo Montleban, discussing the "rich corinthian wood"* in the new Park Ave. *Not actual wood
10. Pauli, I think you've been looking at the wood in your century too long. Go sit in a new Escalade, it has fake wood but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
11. Diehard.... always... every time.
12. LSS or Aurora
13. GM installed the two-mode on the vehicles that would produce the greatest benefit. The two mode apparently will work for front and rear wheel drive vehicles, so those will be along soon... and still before Toyota has any two mode vehicles at all.
14. There are lies, damn lies, statistics, and $h! made up by SMK.
15. I'm going to leave this up for a while then take some screen caps and e-mail them saying "You know you guys are advertising parts for a car of which only two exist and only in museums?"
16. The Northstar name is 20 years old. The current North/South configured Northstar was redesigned in 2003 and updated for V service in 2005.
17. Apparently you didn't get the memo. *love the last one best.... an extra 22hp at the wheels.... .Orly!?!
18. Halo for it's other cars. Works for Toyota. And it's actually a brilliant move on GMs part. Advertise a halo car, get the benefits from that halo car by selling other cars, without even producing the halo car yet. GM worked from the other end down producing Hybrid busses that actually save more fuel per passenger than priuses do. GM had the EV-1 out for testing the same year the original test Prius was released only in Japan.
19. Toyoguy left to save face given the recent issues over in Toyoland SMK just gets his numbers completely wrong for cars that exist while pulling numbers out of his ass for cars that don't.... and he's still here. Buickman... well, he wanted to overthrow Rick just so he could sell more LeSabres and Rendevous...... we don't have a sanity test for the board, but perhaps it's an idea who's time has come. Josh, you know that tale.
20. This is what happens when you rely on NAV.
21. I didn't know the 3.6 could go up to 4.0. Heck, a 4.0, naturally aspirated with DI would likely be good for around 320hp. There goes the need for the current V8 Northstar.
22. the money they saved by canceling the UV8 should go straight into E-flex
23. you mean like the Camry built here on the same platform as the ES built in Japan that overlaps with the IS built in Japan that is on a different platform? Nothing at all like the Lacrosse II built here on the same platform as the 9-5 built in Europe that ovelaps with the CTS built in the US on a different platform...... There is no big differences in resources used. GM does it with 3 more targeted brands, Toyota does it with two. If anything this is more a problem for Lexus because of a foggy brand perception.... is Lexus a squishy luxo cruiser? <ES/RX/LS> or a sporty euro intender <IS/GS/SC>? When you mention Lexus to someone in the general population... what is the car they first think about more likely to be ES or IS? Which would Lexus rather have them think of first? With GM, the brands can be much more focused. Buick is the squishy luxo cruiser, Saab is the Euro, Cadillac is the bad ass American luxury sport.
24. It really burns me that the best selling vehicle in the US is the F-150.... because you know the most "heavy duty" use that 75% of them see is when they run over the curb at the mall.
25. well it does... and if you are staunchly pro-american when buying automobiles you should be staunchly pro-american when buying your clothes, food, household items, etc...... which means being primarily anti-walmart.
