Had McCain picked Christine Todd Whitmann, I would have come to the conclusion that he's serious about the economy and serious about the environment.... or just plain serious period. Whitmann is an environmentalist former two term NJ Governor who cut taxes and balanced the state budget. The then was head of the EPA.

This is only sort of horse and sparrow theory because they would be federally guaranteed loans not direct bail outs, but I see where you're going. I don't know the specifics around the financials, but as long as the companies will be directly paying the loan back (ala Chrysler in the 1980s), I see no problem with it. edit: In fact, I'd go so far as to put a "foreign competition tariff" on the imports to help subsidize the loan, but the globalists would string me from the nearest tree.

Bush Doctrine - It was published in 2002. It is a major pillar of foreign policy of this administration. This is high school history/current event and she flunked the oral quiz. The duty of the President is to protect Constitution. Protecting the U.S. is part of that duty. Bush has done plenty to protect the U.S. while simultaneously trashing the Constitution. Yes, I see a distinction.
