  1. What is "gay propaganda"?
  2. I'm not one of those people who is stuck on the word "marriage" on a government level. I DON'T want homosexual civil unions if heterosexuals get separate laws in marriage, but I would take civil union if that is what was offered to heterosexuals also. Basically, whichever law that allows me to legally bond with my partner should be the same law that allows a heterosexual couple to be joined.
  3. and this thread is done.
  4. Some of you are going to hate the comparisons I'm about to make, but work with me here. Honda Accord coupe V6 - 19/29 - 271hp Honda Accord coupe I4 - 21/30 - 190hp Nissan Altima coupe V6 - 19/26 - 270hp Nissan Altima coupe I4 - 23/31 - 175hp Hyundai Genesis coupe V6 - 20/29 - 210hp Hyundai Genesis coupe i4 - 18/26 - 300hp BMW 3-series coupe I6 - 17/26 - 300hp Toyota Solara coupe V6 - 18/26 - 210hp Toyota Solara coupe I4 - 22/31 - 155hp at 3,300lbs.... ahahahahah. Chevy Camaro coupe V6 - 18/29 - 300hp.... with the Camaro, you quite literally can have your cake and eat it too.
  5. Read it another way. 12,000 Pontiacs were sold because people preferred the styling, name, whatever over what many on this board consider to be superior cars. Every retail Pontiac G6 sale happens when someone prefers the G6 over the Malibu, Aura, Accord, Altima, Camry, Sonata, or Galant.
  6. but that's because you don't even like the intentions of this segment. No manufacturer, ever, could build something compelling for you in this segment because it's the segment that bothers you, not the vehicles specifically. Try to look at it through a suburban housewife's point of view. She really wanted an H3, but it's kinda out of her price range with the economy and all and she's worried that the price of gas will go back up. Does she settle for a bar of soap CRV or does she get the Terrain that looks almost as butch as an H3, more expensive than an Equinox, and gets 30mph highway? How about the guy who is downsizing from his Yukon because of gas prices but thinks the Acadia is too "mini-van". He's not looking for a real off-roader, but he wants something tough looking to beef up what he's lacking in the groin area. Can you really see someone like that getting into a Murano? Then there is the young professional. She lost her job at the brokerage, but she landed on her feet at a new place pretty quickly. The pay isn't as good, but she'll get by as long as she can get out of the payments on her LR3. She wants something upscale. There's no way she's getting into an Equinox or Vue, she'd never be caught dead in something as low rung as a Chevy or Saturn. She doesn't want another VW because of all the trouble with the one she had in college. GMC has some respect and it's a tough looking vehicle. Gets decent mileage too. A Denali version would be a great fit here. Face it, this vehicle was never intended to be marketed to a curmudgeon living in the woods with his dogs.
  7. The terrain is no more of a rebadge than the H2 is of the Tahoe.
  8. I actually *really* like it. I'd never own one myself, but it is a butch looking entry in a rather feminine segment. I think it'll do well for that reason alone. Again, don't think about it from the "would I buy it" perspective, think about it from the perspective of "would the typical buyer in this segment like it?"
  9. Alimony Child support prenuptial agreements Divorce can also ruin your credit Further more, it is a way of designating certain rights to your spouse that are very very very difficult to challenge in court.
  10. I'm saying that I have the right to have my exclusive contract with someone of the same gender treated equally as if I had an exclusive contract with someone of the opposite gender.
  11. In that case, it's the government treating the contracts of two different groups of people differently. Heterosexuals can enter into a single contract that is difficult for outsiders to challenge. Homosexuals have to enter multiple contracts to only get a fraction of the benefits and still have the chance of those contracts being successfully challenged in court.
  12. You are not wrong.... however when has the truth actually mattered?
  13. The California issue was an example of how NOT to run a campaign. It is widely accepted in the gay community that the "No on Prop" group greatly bungled the whole thing. The lesbians getting married and one inviting her 2nd grade class didn't help things either. Iowa, much like New Hampshire, is a very independent state. They won't tolerate outsiders meddling in their political process even if they happen to agree with them. The only way to get an amendment to the Iowa constitution is through approval of two consecutive legislative sessions before going to a public vote.... meaning the earliest an amendment banning gay marriage could go on the ballot is 2012. The Democratic leaders of the Iowa legislature (currently in the majority) have said they will never allow a vote on such a measure while they are in power. Barring some major screw up on the Democratic side (don't rule out that possibility), the legislature is safely democrat for the next 4 years. So it's going to take a while if it were to happen at all.
  14. The reason against having marriage rights for people just living together is that I wouldn't want my roommate to have power of attorney over me simply because we split the gas bill. The problem arises when, if I want to marry my male roommate I cannot, but if I want to marry my female roommate, I can if I want to. Having no laws regarding marriage would actually cause more problems. Right now, if I died, Albert should get my estate. However, because we cannot get married, my parents could fight my will in court and possibly have it overturned. (not saying they would, just and example of could). My parents could refuse Albert visitation in the event I was incapacitated. Even with a living will, it can be fought in court. The list goes on and on.... but suffice it to say that due to the disrespect and anger directed at gay people, we need the law behind us to protect our relationships from outside meddlers.
  15. The "Equal Protection under the law" clause makes your entire argument bunk. The part that I bolded is especially bunk. Taxes are the least of our worries in the gay marriage fight. It's regretful since so few are members, but this thread will probably have to be moved to politics.
  16. Turn the refresh rate up as high as it will go also.
  17. I'm talking overall body shape. The last GM B-bodies looked more different than this.
  18. I saw one out in front of the Costco last night only it was wearing a VW badge....
  19. Actually you wouldn't even need to get rid of the "dud" brands if the healthcare liabilities and got some flexibility from the union. Getting rid of the "dud" brands would just hurt GM more. Look at the Malibu and then imagine what the G6 could have been if the development/production budget were just 15% higher.
  20. Can I use the same rational for buying a CTS-V over a CTS?
  21. Can I tell you that I also hate this whole widescreen craze. I want a standard ratio, 15" screen with 1400 x 1050 resolution. I hate widescreen like 68 hates b-pillars.
  22. They both have NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB. At $769.00 both laptops are about $100 more than I wanted to spend, so the extra $100 on top of that makes it a pretty big jump. These are both Lenovo Ideapads with 15.4" displays.
  23. Both laptops are within $10 of each other and of the same brand and similar model. Laptop 1: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6400 ( 2GHz 800MHz 2MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz Laptop 2: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 1GHz 3MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz The rest of the specs are either the same or don't factor into my decision. Do I go with the faster FSB but slower Ram and 32bit Vista or do I go with slower FSB but faster RAM and 64bit Vista? Or spend $100 more and get the faster FSB, faster RAM, 4 gigs of ram, and 64-bit Vista?
