  1. I actually *really* like it. I'd never own one myself, but it is a butch looking entry in a rather feminine segment. I think it'll do well for that reason alone. Again, don't think about it from the "would I buy it" perspective, think about it from the perspective of "would the typical buyer in this segment like it?"
  2. Alimony Child support prenuptial agreements Divorce can also ruin your credit Further more, it is a way of designating certain rights to your spouse that are very very very difficult to challenge in court.
  3. I'm saying that I have the right to have my exclusive contract with someone of the same gender treated equally as if I had an exclusive contract with someone of the opposite gender.
  4. In that case, it's the government treating the contracts of two different groups of people differently. Heterosexuals can enter into a single contract that is difficult for outsiders to challenge. Homosexuals have to enter multiple contracts to only get a fraction of the benefits and still have the chance of those contracts being successfully challenged in court.
  5. You are not wrong.... however when has the truth actually mattered?
  6. The California issue was an example of how NOT to run a campaign. It is widely accepted in the gay community that the "No on Prop" group greatly bungled the whole thing. The lesbians getting married and one inviting her 2nd grade class didn't help things either. Iowa, much like New Hampshire, is a very independent state. They won't tolerate outsiders meddling in their political process even if they happen to agree with them. The only way to get an amendment to the Iowa constitution is through approval of two consecutive legislative sessions before going to a public vote.... meaning the earliest an amendment banning gay marriage could go on the ballot is 2012. The Democratic leaders of the Iowa legislature (currently in the majority) have said they will never allow a vote on such a measure while they are in power. Barring some major screw up on the Democratic side (don't rule out that possibility), the legislature is safely democrat for the next 4 years. So it's going to take a while if it were to happen at all.
  7. The reason against having marriage rights for people just living together is that I wouldn't want my roommate to have power of attorney over me simply because we split the gas bill. The problem arises when, if I want to marry my male roommate I cannot, but if I want to marry my female roommate, I can if I want to. Having no laws regarding marriage would actually cause more problems. Right now, if I died, Albert should get my estate. However, because we cannot get married, my parents could fight my will in court and possibly have it overturned. (not saying they would, just and example of could). My parents could refuse Albert visitation in the event I was incapacitated. Even with a living will, it can be fought in court. The list goes on and on.... but suffice it to say that due to the disrespect and anger directed at gay people, we need the law behind us to protect our relationships from outside meddlers.
  8. The "Equal Protection under the law" clause makes your entire argument bunk. The part that I bolded is especially bunk. Taxes are the least of our worries in the gay marriage fight. It's regretful since so few are members, but this thread will probably have to be moved to politics.
  9. Turn the refresh rate up as high as it will go also.
  10. I'm talking overall body shape. The last GM B-bodies looked more different than this.
  11. I saw one out in front of the Costco last night only it was wearing a VW badge....
  12. Actually you wouldn't even need to get rid of the "dud" brands if the healthcare liabilities and got some flexibility from the union. Getting rid of the "dud" brands would just hurt GM more. Look at the Malibu and then imagine what the G6 could have been if the development/production budget were just 15% higher.
  13. Can I use the same rational for buying a CTS-V over a CTS?
  14. Can I tell you that I also hate this whole widescreen craze. I want a standard ratio, 15" screen with 1400 x 1050 resolution. I hate widescreen like 68 hates b-pillars.
  15. They both have NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB. At $769.00 both laptops are about $100 more than I wanted to spend, so the extra $100 on top of that makes it a pretty big jump. These are both Lenovo Ideapads with 15.4" displays.
  16. Both laptops are within $10 of each other and of the same brand and similar model. Laptop 1: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6400 ( 2GHz 800MHz 2MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz Laptop 2: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 1GHz 3MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz The rest of the specs are either the same or don't factor into my decision. Do I go with the faster FSB but slower Ram and 32bit Vista or do I go with slower FSB but faster RAM and 64bit Vista? Or spend $100 more and get the faster FSB, faster RAM, 4 gigs of ram, and 64-bit Vista?
  17. This car plus Malibu face = perfect
  18. To everyone who sneers when I suggest a Malibu over a Camry/Accord/Altima I always say, "At least go test drive it so you know you make an informed decision.". I'm confident the Malibu has a chance to win people over if they'd just get through the Chevy dealer door. If they still choose an import, well that's their choice, but at least they gave the Malibu a swing and didn't dismiss it outright without even trying.
  19. Patience my pretties.... not everything can happen at once.
  20. Again, I'm not arguing the merits or demerits of any of these policies, merely stating what would have to happen to make the playing field level. Spark? The trade war is over 30 years old. We've been playing the part of France circa 1941. We put up some resistance here and there, but mostly we've just surrendered.
  21. The playing field is not even. How "great" would the Accord be if Honda had to pay the healthcare and pension liabilities GM does? Conversely, since the Malibu is now arguably on equal footing with the Accord and Camry, how much better over the imports could the Malibu have been if GM didn't have the healthcare issue?
  22. If you want teutonic design, move to Berlin! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:
  23. What if the transmission replacement costs at the dealer were too high for the previous owner, you could be on your 4th or 5th transmission by now and not even know it.
