  1. that's kinda where I was going with my question.....
  2. I understood that Wilmington was way under capacity with just the Kappas being there. Wilmington used to pump out some of the high volume cars.
  3. And then they wander around the desert for 40 years trying to find paradise only to be sniped at and attacked by the locals....... yeah, there's an idea.
  4. If GM didn't have Saab, Saturn, Geo and had kept its fingers out of Fiat, we'd still have an Oldsmobile.
  5. Any car from any company in the world, off the shelf with no modifications other than U.S. spec engines, here would be my Pontiac lineup of Affordable Performance. Mini-Cooper S (Sunbird) Opel Astra OPC, Sedan/Hatch/5-door/Twintop (Sunfire) Alfa Romeo 159 Sedan/Wagon (Alpha platform anyone?) (Grand Am) Pontiac G8 sedan, coupe, wagon, ute (renamed Grand Prix) There isn't a current full size out there that I can think of for a Bonneville, but a LWB Zeta with appropriate upgrades would do nicely. Saturn Sky (Solstice)
  6. Think the car that the CTS coupe will hurt the most in sales will be the G37. The BMWs are either too small or too expensive comparative to the CTS. Remember, the Eldorado was pushing around 20k units right up until the final two years. I still think the CTS coupe is targeting a currently untapped market. edit: As for the Deville, this is purely personal observation, but in addition to being completely out of style these days, even old people are being much more practical with money.
  7. Frankly I'm surprised at some of you being so venomously against this car. The G8 ST, Cruze, Orlando, and Equinox aren't my cup of tea, but I still want to see them being built.
  8. Because the Cadillac isn't selling the CTS to just previous CTS owners. If CTS sedan sales drop by 10,000 when this coupe comes out, then maybe you'll have a point, but if sedan sales remain steady and coupe sales are additional then Caddy is stealing sales from somewhere..... and it's not going to just be grandpa trading in Eldorados en mass.
  9. Considering I was less than 1 year old for 90% of 1979, do you really blame me for feeling the way I do about Pontiac?
  10. Many of those insurance companies have since gone bust.
  11. I agree that Pontiac has potential. The G8 and Solstice were a great start to that. I just disagree "Pontiac means performance" when I know most of the Pontiacs sold in the last 30 years were the one you were objecting to people posting in here.
  12. You seriously think that Cadillac is only 1/2 a step above Chevy? My point is, Pontiacs, for the most part, are no more special than Chevys. The G6 is majorly outclassed by the Aura and Malibu. The G5 is the same as a Cobalt and doesn't even come in a GXP version like Chevy's SS version. The Sky has a nicer interior than the Solstice. Torrent was a blatant Chevy badge job. The Vibe is pretty good, but the Astra has a similar package with a nicer interior. Only the G8 has something special going for it..... but you know what? All of that is ok. It's just that Pontiac isn't the performance brand everyone wants it to be.... and it never was. Every time someone calls Pontiac the "performance brand" the first things that come to mind is that landu roofed, fender skirted, white walled Parisianne or a ribbed for your pleasure Transport or the ghastly looking Aztek or the sound of a Grand Am Quad-4 that hasn't had it's oil changed since the first Clinton inaugural.
  13. You probably already took that hit. I've always had a problem with the "ZOMG! PONTIAC IS A PERFOURMENCE BRAND!!!@!2" uh.... no.... They're an everyman brand, 1/2 a step up from Chevy and you could buy a couple of them with really big motors that the Chevy's didn't get. With the exception of some varieties of F-body and the Fiero, there was nothing at Pontiac that you couldn't buy at your local Chevy/Olds/Buick dealer with the same or better performance.
  14. I'm sorry you feel that way. We had an exception to the political rule during the election season, but once the election was over the Politics rule was reinstated. Since their appeared to be a demand for an area for politics to be discussed, we created a section for it if people chose to join in that discussion. General government policy as it pertains to GM is not the same as partisan politics.
  15. Wide Track! Doesn't get much more exciting than this..... landau roof, fender skirts, wire spoked white wall wheels, suspension by Serta.
  16. Why can't Saturn/Saab/Hummer be spun off to one company? You'd have your everyman brand, your luxury brand, and your channel for trucks.
  17. fixed
  18. I don't know about US Bank Corp, but the lying by the CEO of Wells Fargo would make Ron Blagovitch blush.
  19. I agree that the Malibu needs to match them in size. I'm saying they can't get any bigger without being called full size. Malibu does just fine with with it's 4-cylinder. Road warriors like us would want more, but your average Camry 4-cylinder driver will be fine with it.
  20. The only downside is that even with the base engine the reviewers are going to expect GNX like performance and it'll get compared to some irrelevant BMW that costs $20,000 more and has the interior space of a Civic.
  21. I think a subcription to TTAC should come with a free included.
  22. 1. Pricing hasn't been released for either. 2. You fail to account for the substantial tax credits on the Volt. 3. Sometimes people don't buy things just to save money. If I were cross shopping against the Volt (since I don't know the options that will be available), the Cruze wouldn't even be on my list. You're right that the CTS and Enclave would be the competition.... but that comes from someone who can actually afford any of the above.
  23. Because I want a coupe and I like the looks of both. So there. P.S. Step the maturity up a notch. First verbal warning.
