Glaciers in Spain's Pyrenees have lost 90% of their ice in the last 100 years. Continuing global warming insures that they will completely disappear in a few decades. Most of Europe's glaciers are shrinking and overall have lost a quarter of their mass in less than 10 years.

I thought GM filled everything from Ecotecs to HF3.6s to LS-whatevers with Mobile one these days.

The facts of the past are not in question. We do know for a fact that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. We know how much of it we are putting into the air each year. We can observe the climate data from the last 100 years, we can observe animal behavior, we can observe plant growth patterns, and we can form a hypothesis. Basic scientific method.

Fine. Both of you are unqualified. I don't know what the true answer is, but I choose to err on the side of caution... ya know, just in case the facts that are not in dispute turn out to point to a bigger problem. I personally don't care if my car is powered by genetically modified hamsters as long as it's cheap to fuel, has great acceleration, is smooth, quiet and causes minimal environmental impact.

There seems to be confusion about the Politics rule in non-politics threads. Discussion of policy is fine. Discussion of execution of policy is fine. Random partisan hackery irrelevant to GM or the discussion at hand is not fine.

My friends in Germany have this neat setup where there are two buttons on the toilet instead of one handle. The smaller button is for a normal, low flow flush. The larger button is for more super doody flushing capacity.

Wow, what a thread. 1. 68, you can't say that global climate change is a myth. You don't know. 2. Even if global climate change is 125% false, we are still running out of oil. 3. It's not the electrical generation capacity that we have to worry about. It's the transmission network that is horribly out of date. We are sitting on an incredibly brittle system that everyone refuses to upgrade. 4. There is no such thing as clean coal. Sure you might be able to burn it cleaner than before, but the process of getting it out of the ground is incredibly environmentally destructive. There's also a lot less coal around than we're being told. 5. Traditional hydro electric is done. You won't see any more Hoover Dams or Tennessee Vally Power Authorities. Tidal and wave generation have potential. 6. Nuclear won't be viable for new construction in the U.S. until we get rid of the Jimmy Carter era regulations regarding the types of reactors we can build.

not allowed. If I keep the deposits in an interest bearing account, I have to return the interest to the tenant at the end of the lease term. It's too difficult to keep track of so I don't do it.

The walls are white but she still put so many holes and did so much damage that I have to paint the place again. The worst was the apartment next to this one. Albert and I use that former tenants first name as a descriptor of how dirty something is. "How dirty? Sadeeka dirty!" You know those beads people sometimes put in children's hair? I have a very rude, very un-PC, very likely to get me sued somehow, name for those beads because of that apartment.

Opel definitely seems to be bottom of the pack out of all the major German brands. While VW doesn't have the cred to go up against Mercedes, They are respected in a way that Oldsmobile (the brand) was respected here. They build good cars, but nothing exciting and certainly not Mercedes level. Where as Opels are the Plymouth of the homeland brands. I'd go out on a limb and say that Ford of Europe is more respected by the Germans than Opel is.

While I have to stick up for Opel in that I think the cars they are building now are excellent, I also have to say that the non car enthusiast Germans that I speak to do not think very highly of Opel. They seem to be looked at with about as much respect as Plymouth was here in it's final years.

Indeed. I've never driven a Malibu, but if it's like the V6 Aura I drove one could easily do worse. I'm sure the HHR would have been a nicer drive than the Yaris.... but it doesn't sounds like that bar is set too high.

Unless you specifically needed to lock the trunk and have the contents be hidden, I don't get the trunk issue with the PT Cruiser or HHR. Turning down an HHR in favor of a Yaris sedan because you need a trunk is like turning down a TrailBlazer for a Malibu for the same reason.
