  1. They would spin it thusly: "This new RWD system by Toyota brings an even higher level of sophistication, comfort, and reliability to the already top of it's class Camry. It's a shame GM is so far behind the curve switching it's platforms to RWD."
  2. So was Terri Schivo
  3. That flushing sound Link to post AIG posted a nearly $62 billion fourth quarter loss. So far, AIG has received $150 billion in taxpayer money and as of a plan announced today will receive and additional $30 billion of your dollars. .... To put the size of this in perspective. The government could have purchased 98% of General Motor's liabilities for the same amount it has given to AIG. At least GM has a chance of surviving.
  4. Detroit's outlook falls along with home prices Link to Chicago Tribune DETROIT — It may be tough to get financing for a new car these days, but in Detroit you can buy a house with a credit card. The median price of a home sold in Detroit in December was $7,500, according to Realcomp, a listing service. Not $75,000. Remove a zero—it's seven thousand five hundred dollars, substantially less than the lowest-price car on the new-car market. ...... On a positive note, Detroit's homicide rate dropped 14 percent last year. That prompted mayoral candidate Stanley Christmas to tell the Detroit News recently, "I don't mean to be sarcastic, but there just isn't anyone left to kill."
  5. I don't see it. Better interior quality. Worse on road noise, power, HVAC capacity. On looks it's a wash. The Cobalt is bland in non-SS trim. The Fit is dorky in any trim. If there is one thing the Germans and Asians haven't yet "Americanized" it's the capabilities of their HVAC systems.....
  6. I'm so glad those Honda 4-cylinders are so smooth at high RPM....considering I have to rev it up to 4,500 RPM just to get up a very modest incline at 65mph.
  7. It's a question of more control over less.
  8. This is one of the few posts ever where I'll agree with SMK seeing as we live in the same city. There are plenty of rear drivers here in Pittsburgh. I got along just fine in my '04 CTS with 4 snow tires. As far as snow tires just on the rear..... I guess you people don't need to steer?
  9. I understood that it was. Just no products using Zeta+AWD yet.
  10. Right, not like there's a global economic melt down or anything..... it's totally because they sell RWD.
  11. You're waaaay over thinking it in a sorta way.
  12. You think if the Camry were switched to RWD but kept the same look, sales would suddenly tank?
  13. Killing brands = market share gone. It's that simple. If Ford kills Mercury, Mercury buyers aren't going to buy Fords or Lincolns. They bought a Mercury because they didn't like what the Ford looked like or offered and they didn't buy the Lincoln because they probably couldn't afford it. If Toyota killed Scion, do you think Corolla/Matrix sales would shoot up? Unlikely If BMW killed Mini. The 1 series wouldn't even feel the tickle of increased sales. Face it, even as we like to mock some of the current Pontiac products. They still sell. There is some reason that someone picks a G6 over a Malibu or a Torrent over an Equinox or a Vibe over an Aveo or Matrix. The Torrent can move easily to GMC, but where are you going to put the G6? The Vibe? The G8? Saturn's base fans are a rather weird set. Kill Saturn completely and most will likely end up at Scion or Honda.
  14. you forgot the 32.4 surround sound
  15. Reg, SMK would never buy a Sixteen because it's not DOHC.
  16. Again. You are incorrect and we've gone over this before with you. The A8 is available in 2.8 liter FWD, 3.2 liter FWD, and 3.2 DI FWD. in Germany. If you continue to post unfactual stuff that I know, for certain, you know isn't true, you're going back on ban. This time will be permanent. The A8 is the most attractive of the Germans. I personally like the XJ the most out of this group.
  17. Did you pack the sawzaw for the b-pillar?
  18. But the CTS-V doesn't have a 2/3rds of the price interior... which is what they are implying the Hyundai has.
  19. I believe this is the preferred european method.
  20. Price it out on Carsdirect.com you'll see what he's talking about. In December you could get them about 3k cheaper than what CarsDirect is quoting now.
  21. Would that phrase EVER be used if the Hyundai was from an American brand? No, you'd hear "It just can't live up to the foreign competition", "Close, but not quite for (insert domestic auto marque here)", "It was ok, but just doesn't have that teutonic* feel." *teutonic is one of the most absurd words I find used regularly in automotive reviews. Teutonic means Germanic. Why am I reading that the CTS/G8/MKS "just don't have that teutonic feel"........ IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE AMERICAN CARS ASSWIPE!
  22. you forgot to list the RWD A8 that you were telling us about a month ago.....
