  1. Oldsmoboi's Birthday Challenge Contest open till December 1st 2009 at 11:59pm Since I was a kid, I've always felt that Pontiac should have gotten an E-body, but a sportier version. You can see hints of sportiness in the Buick Riviera T-Type and the Oldsmobile Toronado XSC. What I want to see is what a 1979 - 1985 Pontiac E-Body would have looked like had GM produced one. So sketch, draw, or chop me up a car. Any 1979-1985 Eldorado, Toronado, Seville, or Riviera is an eligible base. I'll be judging the entries myself. Every entrant will receive a C&G related prize for entering the contest. The grand prize is a 1:18 scale model 1966 Toronado The rules: 1. The contest is open to registered Cheers and Gears members with a valid email address and an account in good standing (not suspended for bad behavior). 2. Multiple entries are allowed, but only one prize per entrant. 3. The picture must be posted in this thread using the upload feature. 4. URL links to other websites will not be accepted. The prize details: Brand new 1:18 scale diecast model of 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado diecast model car by Road Signature. Has steerable wheels. Brand new box. Rubber tires. Made of diecast with some plastic parts. Detailed interior, exterior, engine compartment. Dimensions approximately L-10.5, W-4.25, H-3.25 inches.

  5. Speed. Windows 7 runs 64bit edition VERY well if you've got the ram.
  6. amazing what happens when you put out a product that doesn't totally suck
  7. Generally easy to do. Spend the little extra money for the high end ones.

  10. I wish I could make it out there for this.
  11. Well, we're not quite as glamorous as you think.... but yeah very few of those cars appeal to me. You can completely wipe the Asians off the list. Of the Germans, only large ones really appeal to me, so I'd have to buy CPO anyway 7-Series, A8, S-class in that order. The strongest non-GM suggestion for me in SMK's list would be the Mercury Milan.
  12. If it were up to me, I would certainly go with an Enclave, but I'm certain it's too big for Albert. For the same money, we'd go SRX first.
  13. Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying the old one was all peaches and cream, I'm just saying that the powertrain was plenty good and in many ways superior to the Honda offering. One of these days I'll have to post a picture of my driveway so you guys can understand why AWD is such an important feature for me.
  14. Some recent good ones: Boston Legal West Wing Law and Order The CSIs Six Feet Under Weeds House
  15. I like the looks of both the 'Nox and Terrain, but it's not my call. I'm not going to tell him what car to get... just the ones he can pick from. (He's known me long enough to know that he'll never again own a non-GM car.... he's fine with that) I told him he can have any vehicle we can afford that GM makes. So, barring his sudden lust for an SRX, I'm guessing the 'Nox or Terrain will be the winner.... unless I can sway him into a CTS wagon AWD.... but I doubt that'll happen.
  16. Haven't driven either to make a decision, but probably lean towards the I4. The way we use the CRV we don't really need more than that. I much rather spend the money on amenities.
  17. I agree with you about not needing an SUV, but AWD is a major advantage for us because we live perched up on top of a steep hill. I'd like to see him get an AWD sedan or coupe, but he likes what he likes. It's his vehicle, so if he wants a cute-ute, that's what we'll get him. He likes the look of the Equinox, but just saw his first Terrain tonight. He thought it looks very expensive, like Cadillac money, and was surprised when I told him it was only marginally more than the 'Nox..... so we may have a bit of shopping to do now.
  18. My driveway is extremely steep. AWD is rather important. With the CTS, I had to run the snowblower if I wanted to go anywhere.... but at least with the CTS, it was worth it.
  19. or three? No, I doubt I'd ever appreciated vtec. My "ideal" engine is the direct opposite of Vtec... an LT-1. I want something that hits peak torque at about 750 rpm.
  20. I spy with my little eye, someone who doesn't see the oncoming train.
  21. Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of the Honda CRV screaming at 6,000 rpm to produce a paltry 160hp. The '05 Equinox makes 50 ft.lbs more torque than even a 2009 CR-V and does it 400rpm lower. There's no need to wait for v'tec to kicketh in yo.
  22. It'll probably be a new Equinox sometime late next year. He "needs" an "suv" to get the 7 miles to his job and back.
  23. Most of the Cadillacs have the wreath & crest in their headlamps and tail lamps I'm pretty sure the Lacrosse and Enclave have Tri-Shields as well.
