Clear valve covers or cam covers, oil pans etc coupled w/ cameras would be useful for using a screen on the dash to keep watch on the engine.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

different gear ratios for low speed off-roading? Depends on the reality context, diesels can be quite loud and unpleasant if one is a pedestrian and has to hear them passing on streets. In the past I've found myself walking in cities and heard diesels. And certainly driving w/ the windows down and getting passed by some yahoo in a diesel monster truck or a semi accelerating the noise is quite unpleasant. Noise pollution... -

The turbo in a J80 like that would be a 4.2 inline 6 diesel.

For Zep, I love ‘When the Levee Breaks’ and ‘In the Evening’. Love the opening of Levee....

February finds on the open road (cars you've seen this month)

Ford's 'modular' family was named as such because in theory components could be interchanged between V6 and V8 engines of different displacements. Long running family of engines, in SOHC and DOHC versions. The first reunion was fun...small turn out, maybe 20 people out of a class of 64. Flew in from Colorado Springs. The 2nd reunion had a bigger turnout, had an '08 Mustang convertible rental then. Flew in from Arizona. Was really hot and humid in Miami in July, but the breezes offset the humidity in Marathon. Not sure why, but we didn't have a 30th reunion in 2018. -

That looks like a '95-97. The '90-94 was very similar, but had a fixed quarter window in the rear door and squarer headlights, the '95-97 had slightly rounded grille and headlights and a new dashboard. I've always liked these, I had a silver '97 rental I drove to my 10th high school reunion in Marathon, Fl back in '98. My Dad's last new car was a silver blue '96. All the '90s TCs had the 4.6 except for the 1990, which was the first year of this design but had the carryover 5.0, with the new modular 4.6 coming in for '91. -

Those headlights look a lot like an Isuzu D-Max..wonder if it's based on an Isuzu van. -
@oldshurst442 as a random aside, I kept looking at the photo in your post footer and thinking it looked familar--appears to be of Athens, but the color and lighting kind of remind me of an album cover of a favorite album of mine, 'Forth' by the Verve. Not really that similar, but it was reminding me I need to listen to that album again...been a while.

Wouldn't it be easier to have the dealer there ship it to a dealer in your area? Or this a private party purchase?

Hmmm....older Jaguar or Lexus?

Reality is complex. -
I like Michelin tires, didn't realize they had Michelin-branded wiper blades. I've used Bosch blades for years, they work great.

Yes, but those examples are all 50+ years ago. Irrelevant to the reality of today and say, 10 years from now... -
So a current Mustang is 188", so the Maverick is maybe 192-196 (looking the rears are about even, and maybe 4-6 inches of front beyond the Mustang) ? Just eye-balling it..so maybe a 1 1/2 ft shorter than the Ranger (211").

Look at all the automakers building compact CUVs with transverse 2.0 4cyls. Would it matter if the engines/transmissions/other dirty bits all came from the same supplier? Probably not. It’s usually not the powertrain that distinguishes a sale of one appliance over another, it’s the brand perception, the content/options, styling, dealer network etc. -

I think the most important thing is who ever supplies a BEV power unit and platform is that it is safe, efficient and reliable. -
This kid looks a lot like a classmate of mine circa 1980 or so...

There are many things. -
The launch video from Stellantis I saw did not make any mention of a longer wheelbase, and they both appeared the same. Likewise for the Car & Driver articles on both. Which article are you referencing? Launch video: Car & Driver articles: https://www.caranddriver.com/jeep/wagoneer https://www.caranddriver.com/jeep/grand-wagoneer This article mentions that Motor Trend believes LWB versions of both could be coming later https://www.motor1.com/news/494206/extra-long-jeep-wagoneer-coming/
-
Yes, at initial launch, though, the W and GW are only available in the shorter wheelbase. I assume the LWB model will be call 'L' or 'XL'. Though 'Megabeast' would work also. The W/GW wheelbase is 123, longer than the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade SWB models, so a LWB would probably be 130 or so?
-
My understanding is there is only 1 wheelbase. Grand is luxury trim. Closest GM analogy is Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are like Yukon and Yukon Denali.
