Got the August issue of Collectible Automobile in the mail today, was reading an article about the ‘78-80 Grand Prix, and came up this photo—caption says for 1979, the Rally IV wheel option replaced the Rally II wheel option. First I’ve ever heard of or seen these wheels…

I grew up with Dobermans and German Shepherds, they were great family dogs..very protective and loving.

Spotted these two Vipers at a gas station this morning, then saw two more on the street as I was leaving..both black, one an ACR with a monster rear wing. Later at the car wash saw a dark red F150 with the license plate ‘IMDEAD’.

Named after Carl Gay who founded the dealer in the 40s.

Get your truck yet? -
I have just under half a tank...haven't bought gas in a couple months...should go get some.

Anyone here affected by the gas shortage in the SE and East Coast areas? Lots of drama, sounds like...people hoarding gas, filling up plastic bags with gas, etc...

Maybe in the future once I get them out of storage.

Yes, 1/25th is the US standard scale (1/24 for Japanese and European brands). I have two of the AMT '64 GP annuals (along with the '64 Bonneville ht & convertible)....both of mine were bought as built, one fairly well, one pretty rough. They are in storage, but here is a pic of the '64 box art. I also have the '59 Buick annual kits (ht & conv), along w/ all the full size Buicks from '60-66 along w/ the '69 & 70 (there were no full size Buick kits for '67-68 or after '70).

That looks like the AMT 1/25th scale promo. I don't have one, but have a couple of the annual model kits of the '64 (which share the promo tooling but w/ an opening hood and engine, extra parts). '64 was the first year AMT made a Grand Prix kit or promo, they made them for '64 and '65. I have resin kits from the Modelhaus for '66 and '67 (ht and conv). All in 1/25th. MPC later made kits and promos in 1/25th of the Grand Prix for '69-72. (collecting model kits and promos are one of my hobbies)

Sounds like the name of a subdivision in a Phoenix suburb. -

45 and rain has changed to 39 and sleet. May is looking more like Feb or March. Ugh.

Saw a very sharp gold/bronze '71 Riviera this afternoon, also saw a dark blue previous generation Ram 1500 4x4 pickup---short bed w/ regular cab---didn't realize they made that configuration in recent years...looked stubby.

LOT TROLLING: 2021 Buick Envision Photos

Neat dash..I like how the screen is integrated and not standing up like a glued-on tablet in many vehicles. The asymmetry is a nice, distinct touch, instead of the usual generic center stack. Squint and you can see a slight resemblance to a similar driver-centric dash from Buicks 50 years ago.... -
Challenger or Mustang.

Industry News: Rental Car Companies Are Buying Up Used Cars
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Rental car companies, like airlines and hotels, were uniquely hit by last year's events, with the sharp curtailment in business and personal travel. -
Saw my first Bronco Sport in the wild, in black. Saw it driving through a parking lot, looked good.

Yes...if I did that, my dogs would rush over and lick it up...I'd take pics, post it on various FB terrier groups and Insta and get hundreds of likes. Cute dog pics always get the likes.

Not much of anything interesting at $32k new these days. A lot of boring FWD 4cyl generic appliances mostly. -

Conflating 'fastback' and 'hatchback' sounds like. Trivia--what was the first production US market hatchback (not a wagon) from a US automaker? I'd assume it was the Vega or Pinto for MY 1971. Probably was something European available in the US before them, though.

My brother had a '76 Mustang II Mach 1 briefly back then...silver and black. Don't recall what engine it was, it had replaced a '74 Vega GT. He didn't keep it long, next door neighbors backed their '72 Olds 98 into it, mashed in the side. He got it fixed and traded it on a '74 Firebird Formula 400.
