  1. They're offering the Laramie Limited model based on the same premise just without all the goofy cowboy stuff. I think that's a great idea, because I don't like the Ford King Ranch nor the Ram LongHorn and Big Horn packages, though they are popular with the truck crowds (the city boy in me doesn't do country). One of the main reasons I like the GMC Denali package - nothing to do with cowboys!! I think Ram realized they can go after more buyers who want top-of-the-line stuff without all the silly cowboy and rodeo "stuff" (not the word I wanted to use ). http://www.insidelin...show-debut.html
  2. Thanks for the info, bobo. It was definitely a cool event to take part in, but must have cost GM plenty of money to operate. I did participate in a drive event sponsored by GM at the Philadelphia Auto Show in early February that was 1/10ths the size & scope of MSiM, but still allowed you to drive any model of GM vehicles they had available (sadly, it was on the streets of Philly on the weekend, so weekend traffic kind of killed the buzz). Now I'm wondering if GM will be doing some sort of driving event at the upcoming New York (NYIAS) show?
  3. So Camino, you're saying to run, not walk, away from that one? No problem about timing. If it's meant to be, fate will have it there next week still (and I can collect my Mega Millions winnings in the meantime ) Thanks!
  4. So my thoughts now that I've posted the pictures... Interior is disgusting... maybe a thorough cleaning may help, but the driver's seat frame is obviously broken as the seat is crooked, panel missing on dash, stains galore, very dirty. Rear cargo area is in need of new everything - the plastic panels are damaged or stained. Headliner looked like it was not sagging, but seeing as how clean everything else was not a replacement would be needed (seat coverings, carpet too). Exterior surprisingly is in very decent shape for being 19 years old. Complete stripping of the paint is needed and body checked for any imperfections or evidence of prior repair. Windshield would need to be replaced, as the edges have bubbles forming and weatherstipping is dried out. Frame from what I could see seemed decent, but of course I didn't go underneath the vehicle to check/confirm. Doors may be in need of hinge cleaning and spray, otherwise the driver's door was sticking and I'd have to check out the hinges (didn't open the passenger door). Rust developing in the same place on both sides - in front of the rear wheels - would need to be cut and new patch panels welded in. Drivetrain - couldn't start up or drive as the seller conveniently had the battery out. He claims it starts up and runs, but told me a replacement engine would need to be put in because he doesn't trust the one in there. Said he had it running the other day, but rough. Advised to tow back home if I were to purchase it. Also conveniently parked on borrowed land - his lot is across the street and he said there's no room for it - but the overall condition told me that he wasn't willing to keep it a running truck on his regular lot (the other vehicles on this borrowed land included cars that were dropped off by the local towing company - all accident victims. Overall, I think this truck is a perfect candidate for someone looking to do a complete frame-off restoration - but not for me. It seemed to have all its factory options there and the body appeared to be the best thing about it. Seller won't budge from the $1,200 selling price, saying that if he took the time to drop a new engine in it he could sell it for 3x that amount - but doesn't want to invest time and money into it. Some of his story didn't settle with me - he said he bought it from an auction sight unseen and had it delivered to him - but who would buy something the needs an investment to make it sale worthy? I think he gets a lot of his vehicles from the local towing company and flips them for a profit - all of the vehicles on the lot across the street are in need of work to make road worthy. If I had the storage space to keep a non-running vehicle in, the extra cash to do this resto right (body off frame), and the skills to do some of the work myself I might be more confident in purchasing this Yukon. As it currently sits, this is not the truck for me. One word in summation - DISAPPOINTED (but I know. someone will comment, "What did you expect for $1,200 bucks?). Camino, if you want to check out that '92 near you that you started this topic off with, I'm all ears!!
  5. INTERIOR: Engine Driver's side Rear passenger area Cargo area
  6. First, I'll post the pictures I took of the '93 Yukon tonight: EXTERIOR: Grille/Bumper/Hood (grille chrome is starting to wrinkle) Paint on hood is peeling off Paint on roof is peeling and surface rust is starting to develop Rust starting to develop in front of the rear wheel on driver's side Shot inside of the driver's rear wheel well Ahhhh - stickers and missing emblem (holes expessed to the elements) Very rusty trailer hitch, but rest looks decent Rust developing around rear wheel well Rust developing in front of passenger rear wheel Notice the crooked front bumper ("no accidents", well at least not reported accidents!) Detail of bumper & panel filler
  7. I know the new Limited model was recently announced... could this be a Denali-competitor package from Ram? All that chrome, my eyes!! XD
  8. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Just hope it's not priced above $30K
  9. Cool, thanks for the info SAmadei!!
  10. I attended the Philadelphia Main Street in Motion ride and drive event last July (2011). However, I am not able to locate any information on this event continuing in 2012. Does anyone know if GM is still putting on this show in cities across America?
  11. At this point I'm curious about buying a vehicle out-of-state and registering it in my state. If it were to happen, it would be a Pennsylvania vehicle coming to New Jersey. I'm wondering how different a PA state title is from a NJ state title? Specifically, would there be additional information I would need to secure in order to convert a PA title to a NJ title?

  13. On the drive in to work yesterday, coming off of Route 295 North onto Route 1 North, a gold colored '87 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon with Delaware tags in pristine-looking condition. Last night attended a county fire police meeting and saw my Lieutenant's new (leftover) 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 2WD Crew Cab in White Diamond Tricoat (he replaced his '09 Colorado 2WD Crew Cab). A lot of the members at my firehouse drive Fords, as is our Traffic Unit truck ('06 F-350 4WD Crew Cab), so I was worried they were going to convert him over. He's been a Chevy man for years and was only too happy to stay with the General this time.
  14. I'd hate to see the day where the Suburban gets killed off. Surely there will always be a market for this SUV, even if it dipped to Corvette numbers I'd hope Chevy would have the sense to keep it alive.
  15. Found this on a Google search here:
  16. Re: the new Traverse, I find it starnge that I actually like the new frontend styling much more than the current model, but will agree that Chevy remained rather conservative rather than going bold. While I concur with Oldsmoboi re: the new Impala, I'm more worried about the upcoming 2014 Silverado. Too many GMC haters that are Chevy fan boys will go ballistic if the GMC Sierra has the bold new face while the Chevy Silverado gets treated as the red-headed step child again. While I like the Tahoe/Suburban frontend, I can't say the same about the Silverado 1500's frontend (the 2500 & 3500 with the split grille is something I like, and makes those trucks acceptable to me). I think GM/Chevy should have put the Tahoe/Suburban frontend on the 1500's and left the 2500/3500's as they are to separate the models (just my opinion). The one major peeve I had with the Traverse since it's intro was the taillight design (looked too small on such a large space). The '13s are better, especially since the hatch has some shape and content to it now, but I reserve final judgement until I see it in person at the NYIAS in just over a weeks' time.
  17. Better use of the Enclave tailgate, moving the licence plate from the bumper. fixed. To me, interior and exterior, this is an Enclave with a nose job. Badge engineering is alive and well with the New GM??? Say it ain't so!! I guess I better be thankful that the Acadia wasn't forced to use the Enclave shell to then Walking out in the parking lot leaving yesterday I noticed an Enclave and then a Traverse not too much further down the lot. Both parked head in, I thought to myself, "Geez, the rear of those two vehicles look an awful lot alike" (I was well aware the Traverse used the Buick's shell). At least with the Acadia and the Outlook, they had different uses of the rear glass to separate them (which the '13 Acadia now uses). I always liked the Outlook's wrap-around rear glass but noted that the separated rear side glass of the Acadia had a nod to the Envoy XL's rear glass shape:
  18. Thanks for posting, Olds Guy!! You are our resident merchandiser I will definitely be searching out the '80s Cutlass and Fiero... have been having a hard time finding any of the new stuff from HWs lately, as my local stores (WalMart, Target, Toys R Us) haven't gotten much in the way of new inventory the past month or two.

  20. Got a brief reply today from the seller (dealer): I told them I plan to come out tomorrrow. We'll see how this goes!!
  21. It would be better for GM to re-align the sizing of their SUV/CUV models to avoid overlap and fill in gaps that they currently do not offer a model in: GM: Yukon XL/Suburban - Yukon/Tahoe - Acadia/Traverse - ?/Trailblazer - Terrain/Equinox - Encore/Chevy Moka Ford: Expedition XL - Expedition/Navigator - Explorer - - Explorer - Escape - N/A or C-Max? Chrysler: N/A - Durango - Grand Cherokee - GC - Liberty - Patriot/Compass (and of course I won't go into the foreign brands but you have the Sequioa, CR-V, Pathfinder, X-Terra, Rougue, 4Runner, RAV4, etc to put up to each of these classes) This ideal GM lineup offers a balance between SUV (BOF) and today's more demanded CUV architecture, where those needing towing & payload capability can still find it and those seeking more people haulers find what they're looking for. Of course the Trailblazer has not been id'ed for sale in North America, nor has a GMC version been alluded to either. But if offered it would bring a sense of balance to the dealer's lots and offer customers more choices in vehicles that suit their driving needs.

  23. I think that the tablet would need to be an available option, in case the customer did not own one.
  24. I agree 100%. Sent an email to the seller yesterday but no reply yet. I have plans tonight that I cannot change, so I'm hoping this Yukon is still around tomorrow evening. I realized today looking at the picture of it on my monitor that it is two-tone dark blue and silver. Dark blue is my favorite color, and I've always loved how the GMT-400 trucks & SUVs looked with the deluxe two-tone paint option with the silver color. Is this a sign of fate?
