Isn't that the only year that grille was offered? I always thought it gave the Silverado a little luxury look, especially when compared to the gray plastic standard grille. I take it the donor truck would donate the cab, in addition to the interior? Is the bed a long bed or short bed? I think a shortie crew cab would be awesome, especially since the factory didn't offer that at that time. I need to ask you to explain two things - Mothertruck and Spacetruck. What do they mean? Where did they originate from? I take it Spacetruck must refer to the futuristic design of the El Camino, since you've referred to your old SS as the Spacetruck. But I'm totally lost on the Mothertruck term. By the way, what kind of American Racing rims are those? I've always liked that design and it looks very similar to the design Chevy/GMC offered as an optional rim on those year trucks.

I did my civic duty and voted after work last night, at approximately 5:30 PM. And since the wife and I work together now and commute in one car, I made her go in and vote too

Pretty cool project update camino. Is the donor truck an '83?? I like that frontend a lot, and would love to see that grille on the mothertruck instead of the more basic one you purchased a while back. Too bad it wasn't a GMC, I'd be tempted
-
But if you had the SSR and sold it like the Firehawk, I would have been severely tempted to buy that off of you at the time

http://luxurydiecast.com Offering 1:43 diecast in the following GM vehicles: Escadlade Hybrid, Chevrolet Suburban, Cadillac CTS-V, Cadillac Converj (check the website for pictures) I found the Presidential Limo (2009 Cadillac DTS-modifed) at Wal-Mart in August for $14.99; seen it at hobby stores and some car show vendors before that for $29.99 and up. I've also seen the Presidential Suburban and CIA Suburban in person, again at $29.99 but didn't bite. They first entered the market with the Limo, then the Suburbans. The rest (CTS-V, Escalade, Converj) are all recent intro's.

Yeah, I saw that one too and there is a second picture from that day too with him in it. That one I don't buy though, because the evidence posted proves to me that he isn't a time traveller. That cell phone one though is pretty convincing (again, to me). I've been interested in time travel for a long time, primarily due to movies like The Time Machine (1960), Time After Time (1979), the Back To The Future trilogy (1985, 1989, 1990), and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) - to name a few. If I could go back in time to witness history being made, I'd be as happy as a 5 year-old in a candy store

Too numerous to count. The last one was with the '55 GMC dump truck I posted about this summer; several e-mails to the seller (no phone # was posted), all went unanswered. The downside to using Craigslist I guess.

The Chevrolet SSR is one vehicle I intend to own at some point in my life Anyone care to buy me #003 for my birthday (12/23)???

I try to post when I see something GM-related that I think the masses here would enjoy. Olds Guy was the life of this forum with a lot of diecast collectibles (Green Light, HW, MBX, Johnny Lightning, etc), but he hasn't posted in a while. I don't think to many members care about this forum, nor collecting in general ---> just my anyway.

My step-son's high school sponsored a Ford ride-and-drive Saturday afternoon to raise money for Project Graduation. For every person that tst-drove a new Ford, the local Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership donates $20 to the fundraiser. I had to go to help out, and got to drive a Ford F-150 STX 4WD Regular Cab Shortbed (my favorite combo), Here's a picture of the one I drove: Not bad at all, and I enjoyed the brief but fun experience.

Tire questions.... again
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
Updated with a poll now. -
Pricey, especially since I'd need a set for the Envoy and the G6 (assuming they offer the sizes for both). How long do these blades last? How about the Rain-X Latitudes and Repels? If they last at least year then it would be worth it. The Goodyear ones on the G6 now cost me about $8 each (Costco), and I've definitely been happy with them. But my neighbor/friend works for Advanced Auto (Allentown, PA warehouse) and swears by their products for his '05 Ford 500 Limited and '05 Ford Freestyle Limited AWD, so I'd be willing to try them out. TIA!

Tire questions.... again
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
Well duh, I thought you would have known that When I was looking for tires for the '96 FWB this time last year, all that I could find where light duty truck tires from TireRack (I wanted the thin white-wall tire and ended up with Kelly Navigator Gold tires). You should check those Fortera TripleTreds for your Caprice wagon - it seems a lot of Fortera TripleTred tire owners are pleased, albeit the claimed "noise" they make. I've always liked Goodyear tires and the TripleTred series get excellent ratings from TireRack posters, but have had Michelins on a couple of vehicles (OEM) and overall have been satisfied with them sans tread life ('05 Envoy 4WD: 35k and they started wearing out quick; '03 Buick Rendezvous FWD: at 28k they were wearing out and by 32k I had to replace them - I always had the tires rotated every other oil change, so I couldn't explain the quick wearing other than the materials being the cause). The Fortera TripleTred tires are expensive, but believe it or not they are slightly cheaper than the Michelin LTX M/S tires (I wish the LTX M/S2 tires came in my size, as this discussion wouldn't be needed). Right now I want to see if anyone else cares to post their thoughts on my question, and more importantly I want to see how many people pick either Highway/All-Season or Highway/All-Terrain (again, I'd like to have a truck-ier tire on the Envoy, but my driving doesn't necessarily mean that a Highway/All-Terrain tire is necessary). -
I'm going to need to replace the factory/OEM Michelin Cross Terrain tires (P245/65-17) on my 2006 GMC Envoy soon. Almost two weeks ago I started working at my wife's company, and this means my previous commute went from 7 miles one-way to a current commute of now 34 miles one-way. The good thing is that we drive in together, so the G6 gets driven 3 days a week and the Envoy 2 days to balance out the mileage. Since I will no longer have "snow days" off (I'll miss teaching for that alone!), I'll need a good set of tires for any snow I'll have to drive in to work, plus tires that handle well in rain/wet weather will also be beneficial. Here's what I'm considering: 1. Goodyear Fortera TripleTred > Highway All-Season(pricey, but has great TireRack.com ratings & reviews) 2. Michelin LTX M/S > Highway All-Season (unfortunately not the LTX M/S2 tires, as they're not offered in my size) 3. Michelin LTX A/T2 > On/Off-Road All-Season (great on & off road plus wet weather and dry condition traction, but I don't know how much off-road time these tires will see) I'd love to go with the Michelin LTX M/S2, like what caddycruiser has on his Avalanche, but they are not made in my size (P245/65-17) so they're off the list. Having had Michelin Cross Terrains on my leased '05 Envoy and not liking them past 35k miles, I am not considering those (plus that's what is currently on my '06 Envoy and they were horrible at 35k too when I bought it). The All-Season tires are pretty close in price per TireRack.com, but the LTX A/T2's are -$100 cheaper though - but I don't want this to be about price so much at this point. Being that the Envoy is a truck (BOF), I'd like to have a truckier tire (LTX A/T2) on it, but don't want overkill if a Highway All-Season tire would be better. Any other brands that I should be considering? (Firestone, Bridgestone, etc>?) *UPDATE - added a poll.

Do you mind if I ask what these blades cost you? I need to put new blades on both the Envoy and the G6 before the winter weather arrives. The G6 got Goodyear blades from Costco last November and have been great, but need replacing at this point. I put on Pylon blades on the Envoy in March (yes, bought at Wal-Mart) and have been disappointed since. SInce cash is not as free-flowing as I'd like, I have to budget from the next couple of pay checks the stuff I need. TIA

No problem ocnblu! There was a ton of cool stuff on display there, and not only from GM (though that's my focus while there,as evident from the pics being posted). Below is some more... Well, that pretty much wraps it up. Oh, here's the little guy (Justin, 5 years-old), how he got around the show: And at the required stop at Hershey's Chocolate World visitors center at the end of the long day:

The weather was beauitful, probably the best weather out of the past 10-12 years. I was a little surprised at the amount of people in attendance (seemed light compared to other years); vendor areas and car corral areas were not as crowded, and the car show area was busy but it wasn't bad getting pictures (sometimes in the past you'd have to wait 5-10 minutes to get a shot). I was happy with the outcome of trucks this year, seems every year the amount of trucks multiples and this year GMs '55-57 and '67-'72 trucks grew. I was disappointed with the amount of miney I had to "shop" in the vendor area, being unemployed at this time was noty fun (I came only home with Hemming's 2011 Pickup Truck Calendar and the little guy came home with a 1/25th Dodge Challenger police car - though there was a lot more I wish I could have bought). Instead of spending a majority of the time in the vendor area, my friend and I (along with the little guy) spent more time in the car show area this year. I will post some pictures below for you to enjoy...
