FCA is a house of cards being held up by Ram trucks. Even Jeep is down, and Fiat and Alfa are way down on tiny volume to begin with Chrysler is down on low volume, Dodge way down on moderate volume.

Impala outselling the Camaro. And the Impala is getting killed. Doesn’t bode well for the Camaro. Also Cadillac sedan sales other than the fleet heavy XTS are in free fall, which doesn’t look good for the prospects of rear drive cars at GM.

Cadillac News: More Powerful Cadillac V-Series Get A Name
smk4565 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
They could bring back Eldorado, Fleetwood and Seville, and throw a V or Blackwing after that. Sounds better than CT4 Blackwing. Problem with the CT-4-5-6 naming scheme is that makes "Cadillac" the most important part of the name and "Cadillac" the image of the product, and the Cadillac name doesn't carry much weight anymore. Also why the big SUV is "Escalade" and not XT8 because "Escalade" has way more cache than "Cadillac." Although you also have to wonder if CT4 and CT5 don't sell well, will Cadillac just give up on sedans for the most part, and everything be an SUV in which case you don't really need a V or Blackwing sub-brand. -
Cadillac News: More Powerful Cadillac V-Series Get A Name

I agree you need a more accessible sport trim and 640 hp is not really usable on regular roads. But if you spent 15 years on the “V” name brand I don’t know if I would throw that away in a reboot. Although Cadillac threw away SRX and CTS for reboots so I guess it doesn’t matter. If Blackwing is the top trim and you are going with a word name there, why not use word names for the models too and throw away the awful alfa-numeric names in favor of word names. -
Mercedez Benz News Mercedes to Launch A250e Plug-In Hybrid Hatchback

It’s better than a Prius. Next generation S-class is looking high tech, and there is that AMG S73 hybrid rumor out there. -

It’s the Mercedes-Benz of plug-ins. -
Electrification takes a lot of R & D dollars, something FCA doesn't seem to have as most of their product is really old. And the fact that t hey are still talking about the hellcat makes me think they aren't looking much to the future.

Rush is really good. RIP Niki Lauda.

Duel is probably one of the most suspenseful because of how little dialog there is, that is a good one. Gone in 60 Seconds is probably my favorite, good story, some comedy and action and a ton of cars. The Cannonball Run (and Speed Zone) series is good for corny, ridiculous car stuff, but the zany cross country race idea is fun.

Volvo News: Armored Volvo XC90 Weighs Nearly 10,000 Pounds

You might be in a hurry if trying to get away from a terrorist attack. -
CAFE can be an issue too as cars and trucks have different standards. Something like a Sonic can have a tiny engine and get good MPG, the Malibu has a 1.5 liter and they can sell Malibu hybrids that get a big number. But performance cars aren't CAFE agreeable unless they have electrification which drives up the price. And GM brass probably figures it is easier to just sell Equinoxes. The Impala outsold the Camaro last year and they are ready to drop the Impala like a sack of dirt, so I wouldn't be surprised at all for the Camaro to suffer the same fate.

10,000 lbs and a 4 cylinder engine? Yeah, pass on that. Mercedes has a V12 in their armored car, or a V8 if you aren't in a hurry. -
Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner.

Lexus, BMW and Audi are going all in on this oversized grill thing. Won’t be long before the copy cats start doing it. It looks modern, I looks like an Audi. Audi people will like it.
-
Poison to enthusiasts maybe, but not to shareholders who only care about GM's bottom line and the dividend payout.
-
Well it makes more financial sense for Chevy to introduce a crossover in between the Equinox and Blazer than to do a new Camaro, because then they can do a GMC clone of it too. Sadly the people just want more crossovers. I think this crossover craze sucks, but the tribe has spoken.
-
And yet Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley and AMG have them, and Ferrari is coming. No one buys the Alfa Romeo or Maserati crossovers, but no one buys from those brands anyway. Ford wouldn't do Edge ST and Explorer ST if they didn't think they could sell them.
-
They should build something like this. They need a halo sports car product to compete with Porsche, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and all those guys. Plus they need to push their EV cars.

The Camaro got too expensive, plus gen 6 doesn’t look as good as gen 5 and you can’t see out of them. People also want crossovers not coupes, so they better get performance crossovers ready.

Jaguar News: Jaguar Land Rover Insists It Is Not For Sale
smk4565 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Jaguar
JD power IQS is very subjective. They are just asking customers if they have a complaint or problem with their vehicle in the first 90 days, not being able to figure out how to pair your phone to blue tooth could be a problem. That survey has nothing to do with overall reliability or cost of ownership. I don’t think JLR will survive on their own. Not enough volume, too expensive to develop electric powertrain and autonomous vehicles. JLR could be gone with one recession without a partner. -
I think they will sell a lot of these. I suspect the Hyundai Palisade will sell well also. They both look good, they both are packed with content and both cost less than most of the rivals. The Atlas and Ascent I think are mostly just to appeal to existing VW and Subaru owners that need a 3rd row, they don't really make any breakthroughs. The Hyundai/Kia cousins I think came to conquest sales.
-
They never let an engine go that long or be underpowered for the time. But it isn't 4.6 liters to get 255 hp. Cadillac should just kill the XT6 now, no way they can compete with the GX460. And the Lincoln Aviator is DOA, that 400+ hp hybrid deal they got going on is no match for the Lexus V8.

The consumer public will not be satisfied until there are 1,000 crossovers available for under $30,000. And 1,000 more for above $30,000.
