  1. Agreed, diesel is done. Except maybe in big trucks. Elsewhere the people just don’t want it.
  2. It is a good video, and a good point that if you take the F1 car and put a body around it, then it is possible. And there is not a shortage of cash at Mercedes, they'll throw money at it until it works.
  3. They aged well because you never see them on the road, there are so few out there it is like it never existed. They better price these cheap because I can't imagine a 10+ year old 9-3 with some batteries stuffed in it is anywhere near as good as a Tesla Model 3. Unless they are selling these at less than $35k with a 200+ mile range this is dead on arrival.
  4. The newer stuff is selling, the old stuff like GLS, CLA and SL are not. But that is to be expected. New GLS is out soon, a GLB in winter and a GLA next summer. That SUV lineup will be very fresh, plus EQ C on sale later this year.
  5. Mustang, Minivan, Grand Cherokee and others, he did come up with a lot of great ideas and even the K-car which was kind of junk did help save Chrysler in the 80s. 94 years is a good run.
  6. Tesla is putting up some big numbers. Nearly 25,000 Model 3 a month is nearing Camry/Accord numbers.
  7. GM does do way too many gray interiors. They could learn a think or two from Kia and Hyundai interiors at this point.
  8. Must have been a 5-series sale this month. X4 up 1134% Build more crossover coupes!!!!!
  9. They have volume now but Jeep has been down almost every month the past year or so. And the market they compete in is getting more and more flooded. I think Jeep has great brand image and styling, but the nuts and bolts of their product is still FCA parts bin which means lackluster interiors and poor reliability. Jeep is right down there at the bottom of reliability ratings with Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Dodge. Hyundai and Kia are bringing a ton of SUVs that look pretty good online, and their quality and reliability is really good, they are going to steal sales off Jeep all day long. Ford has 1 or 2 Bronco's coming, GM has more SUVs coming, although most of these seem like boring Asian designs. VW could step up their SUV game, their stuff looks boring and isn't that nice inside for what you are paying.
  10. FCA is a house of cards being held up by Ram trucks. Even Jeep is down, and Fiat and Alfa are way down on tiny volume to begin with Chrysler is down on low volume, Dodge way down on moderate volume.
  11. Impala outselling the Camaro. And the Impala is getting killed. Doesn’t bode well for the Camaro. Also Cadillac sedan sales other than the fleet heavy XTS are in free fall, which doesn’t look good for the prospects of rear drive cars at GM.
  12. Leading the way, America will get there 20 years after them.
  13. They could bring back Eldorado, Fleetwood and Seville, and throw a V or Blackwing after that. Sounds better than CT4 Blackwing. Problem with the CT-4-5-6 naming scheme is that makes "Cadillac" the most important part of the name and "Cadillac" the image of the product, and the Cadillac name doesn't carry much weight anymore. Also why the big SUV is "Escalade" and not XT8 because "Escalade" has way more cache than "Cadillac." Although you also have to wonder if CT4 and CT5 don't sell well, will Cadillac just give up on sedans for the most part, and everything be an SUV in which case you don't really need a V or Blackwing sub-brand.
  14. I agree you need a more accessible sport trim and 640 hp is not really usable on regular roads. But if you spent 15 years on the “V” name brand I don’t know if I would throw that away in a reboot. Although Cadillac threw away SRX and CTS for reboots so I guess it doesn’t matter. If Blackwing is the top trim and you are going with a word name there, why not use word names for the models too and throw away the awful alfa-numeric names in favor of word names.
  15. It’s better than a Prius. Next generation S-class is looking high tech, and there is that AMG S73 hybrid rumor out there.
  16. It’s the Mercedes-Benz of plug-ins.
  17. Electrification takes a lot of R & D dollars, something FCA doesn't seem to have as most of their product is really old. And the fact that t hey are still talking about the hellcat makes me think they aren't looking much to the future.
  18. Rush is really good. RIP Niki Lauda.
  19. Duel is probably one of the most suspenseful because of how little dialog there is, that is a good one. Gone in 60 Seconds is probably my favorite, good story, some comedy and action and a ton of cars. The Cannonball Run (and Speed Zone) series is good for corny, ridiculous car stuff, but the zany cross country race idea is fun.
  20. You might be in a hurry if trying to get away from a terrorist attack.
  21. CAFE can be an issue too as cars and trucks have different standards. Something like a Sonic can have a tiny engine and get good MPG, the Malibu has a 1.5 liter and they can sell Malibu hybrids that get a big number. But performance cars aren't CAFE agreeable unless they have electrification which drives up the price. And GM brass probably figures it is easier to just sell Equinoxes. The Impala outsold the Camaro last year and they are ready to drop the Impala like a sack of dirt, so I wouldn't be surprised at all for the Camaro to suffer the same fate.
  22. 10,000 lbs and a 4 cylinder engine? Yeah, pass on that. Mercedes has a V12 in their armored car, or a V8 if you aren't in a hurry.
  23. Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner.
  24. Lexus, BMW and Audi are going all in on this oversized grill thing. Won’t be long before the copy cats start doing it. It looks modern, I looks like an Audi. Audi people will like it.
  25. Poison to enthusiasts maybe, but not to shareholders who only care about GM's bottom line and the dividend payout.
