  1. If they made the Regal a mid-size crossover coupe, it would sell better than the 4-door sedan they are trying to push.
  2. A V6 won't move the sales needle at all with the Regal. Most people buying a Regal probably are used to and prefer the 200 hp of their Lesabre or Mercury Milan. Anyone that wants a sports sedan isn't buying a Regal. Why Buick insists on trying to make Regal a Euro-sports sedan is beyond me, it doesn't fit the rest of the brand, and it doesn't work.
  3. I agree, Buick could add a 4th crossover in between Envision and Encore, there is about 16 or 17 inches in length between the 2 of them. I do think they need to sell a sedan, so LaCrosse is it, but Cascada doesn't sell much, Regal doesn't sell much. A Regal wagon won't sell at all, I don't see what they can do with the Regal to get better sales out of it, other than renaming it Camry. I am shocked they are putting a V6 in the Regal, how in the name of CAFE is that happening?
  4. More power is good when the chassis can handle it and put the power on the ground so it can be used. What is better, 707 hp in a Challenger or 420 hp in a Porsche 911? I think the Corvette should top out around 575 hp, and have a base model with like 350 hp so it sticks to a reasonable price point. Any GM product with over 600 hp should be a Cadillac. GM needs to build a sports car above Corvette, rather than trying to make the Corvette a super car competitor and throwing 700 hp into a chassis that won't be able to do anything with it. The AMG GT S is pretty fast, there is a GT R now too that will do better on a track, but that car is easy to drive on a track from what all the reviews and tests show, and the AMG GT did win best drivers car in 2015. Mercedes is making a 1,000+ hp hyper car, but they aren't making a 1,000 HP GT because that would be stupid and not in the cost range of a GT.
  5. The Z06 can't get the power down as it is, adding more power to it doesn't make it better. Corvette needs AWD and a 10-speed automatic and a better rear suspension.
  6. 3 Crossovers isn't enough when crossovers sell more than sedans. Toyota is bringing a smaller than Rav4 crossover, Lexus is getting one below the NX. BMW is going to have 7 crossovers on sale by 2018. Look at Jeep sales with industry worst reliability for years and their sales keep going up and up because people want that crossover/SUV. By 2025 crossovers could be 50% market share, sedans like 20%, coupes 2%, why does Chevy have Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, Impala, Volt, Camaro, Corvette. 8 cars and 3 crossovers is a recipe for disaster with where the car market is going. I love cars, I'll never buy a crossover, but the market has spoken.
  7. The 5-series is crashing and burning. New model next year, but I think the big size, and dated look is catching up to it. BMW sedans all over are down this year which wouldn't be a problem but the X4, X5 and X6 down this year too, so they aren't just pushing people to higher profit crossovers. They are getting an X2 and an X7, that could help, but I think Mercedes has BMW beat.
  8. Enclave down 16%, Traverse down 10%, Equinox down 29, Terrain down 48%. Those aren't doing okay, they were left on market too long. Yes there is a new Equinox coming next year, but they could have used one like last year. I think Chevy for sure needs a crossover in between Equinox and Traverse. They need more than 3 crossovers.
  9. It shows how dated the Lambdas and Equinox are. People are going crossover crazy and those are all taking a beating. They need updated and more crossovers in a hurry.
  10. The ATS range needs work as a whole, mainly on the interior. I'd like to see them replace the 3.6 NA V6 with the 3.0 turbo. They also need all wheel drive on all V-series Cadillacs.
  11. Finally we get a successor to the Regal Joseph Abbbod. Makes sense to do this from a sales/marketing perspective. By putting a special grill and wheels on a Lacrosse and some stitching on the dash they get to charge $3,000 more for it.
  12. I watched the video presentation of this vehicle, Dieter Zetsche said this crossover when it hits production will be priced a moderately equipped GLC. That would make me think about $50k which is outstanding. I thought they would be in GLE price territory with this.
  13. The 310 miles is probably the Euro rating which tends to be higher. The Opel version of the Bolt is rated near 300 mile range, perhaps this Mercedes will be like a 250 mile range under US testing, but I am sure they would offer a 90 kWh battery too for more range.
  14. Good power, performance and range but it all comes down to what it costs. i like the wireless charging feature also. If they can get this SUV near GLE money they are in good shape. The exciting part about this is Dr. Z said there will be electric sedans, wagons, coupes and 2 and 4 seat convertibles. Makes me wonder if they will use the EV car platform and build C, E, and S class sedans/coupes with basically the same interiors and bodies but with a different drive train. Dr. Prof. Thomas Weber also confirmed that Mercedes has a Hyper car in development.
  15. 373 miles of range is outstanding, but what does that cost? All EVs come down to cost, if it costs $50k, no one is buying it. If it costs like $29k, this could be what the Beetle was for them 60 years ago.
  16. I have said this about the Mustang and Camaro also. If the Camaro is $60,000, it isn't really a Camaro anymore. The Camaro used to be priced like a Malibu or Monte Carlo, it is was middle price Chevy, not they want Cadillac prices for it. If you want a $60,000 sports car that is why the Corvette exists. It would be nice if they offered a cheaper sports car if they are going to push Camaro and Corvette up market, but at the same time, sports car sales are dropping across the board, so it probably isn't worth it.
  17. They keep increasing power to levels that are beyond what a pick up truck needs and are getting more into medium duty commercial truck area. So what does that do to weight and cost of the pick ups? There is a point when it is senseless, if the Silverado HD diesel is like $70,000, doesn't really matter if it has 1,000 lb-ft if no one can afford it.
  18. It's crazy that these pick ups have over 900 lb-ft of torque now. I remember about 15 years ago when a Silverado or Ford diesel truck had like 450 lb-ft and that was considered a lot.
  19. Makes sense to do this, if a dealer is selling 3-4 cars per month, that isn't a viable dealership. Better to buy those out and make the remaining dealerships nicer. As far as travel goes, once you buy the car you don't really need to take it to the dealer for service. Aside from the independent shops, and Midas and Mienke and Monro type places there are a lot of service options. Plus you could take your Cadillac to any GM dealer to fix since the 2.0T, 3.6 V6 and 6.2 V8 are GM corporate engines, nothing in there that a Chevy mechanic couldn't fix.
  20. I don't think they need more range they need lower price. Is the Bolt better than the 2018 Equinox? The Equinox looks better, is larger, has more room, better interior. There is a small percentage of people that will buy EV only, most are going to buy the best car for the money. Bolt still costs too much to compete with gas cars, but the day is coming when the EVs will take over.
  21. Range isn't the problem it is price. When the car makers find a way to get price down the EVs will take off.
  22. It is better value than those other cars for sure, but no one buys those other cars. Question is if the Bolt better than a Camry that costs $10,000 less and have more room, and features and better interior? Or is the Bolt better than an Equinox or Escape that have more room and are $10,000 less. You have to convince people to buy a Bolt, I don't think just because it is electric is a reason that a massive amount of people will buy it. If the Bolt and Malibu were priced identical, I think the Malibu would still out sell it. EV gets mainstream when it is better than the gas car at equal money.
  23. I think 300 mile range is plenty to quell any range anxieties and people can charge at home. They don't need charging stations in mass when you have EV's with enough range for 6-8 hours of driving. The EV marketers need to push the convenience of EV driving. They should be selling it as look how much time you can save by not going to a gas station every week. You can pull into your garage and plug it in, like you plug in your cell phone to charge over night. Simple. If you look at all the EVs on that list above and look at the price, there in lies the problem. Focus, Leaf, Golf are all $20,000 cars that are $30,000+ in electric form. Too much money for a compact car. A vehicle like the Bolt needs to be $27,500 before incentives before electric goes mainstream.
