  1. Oh right, the HR-V. Same difference, all these alpha numerics are out of control. And why do the people that make Camry, Highlander, Sienna, Tacoma, suddenly break form and make a CH-R?
  2. The front end looks too busy and ugly. The inside looks of good quality, but I like the design of some other brands more. I feel like every Toyota from the past 10 years has had the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder. Floating NAV screen strikes again!
  3. Looks like a nice interior, Nissan has been doing nice interiors lately, sort of like a knockoff Infiniti but at price you think it is a good deal where as with Infiniti's I feel like you don't get what you pay for with the interior. I like the all wheel drive, that might steal some would be crossover buyers back to sedan world to enjoy better handling, acceleration, braking and gas mileage than they would get in a Murano.
  4. Where is the Acura version of the Honda CH-R? They need that out stat!
  5. This is true. The Explorer is a big mid-size, it is near a full size SUV, I don't think they gave the specs, but my guess is this Aviator is pushing 200 inches long, but so is the Q7. We have to see the final version to see if it can compete with a German, but yes a year ago Lincoln was barely above Honda and probably if you put an MKX in a comparo test vs a Pilot it would have lost. Huge win for Lincoln if they can even get in the same sentence with the Germans, but I also like that Lincoln doesn't even mention the Germans and just focuses on "American luxury." A lot of marketers try to compare their product to the Germans (Kia Stinger) and they are almost dead on arrival because they aren't going to be a good as a German car so why oversell and under deliver.
  6. Looks good, this would sell because the masses buy pickups and you probably have a lot of people out there that think the Silverado and F150 have gotten too big and too expensive. These full size trucks they push the prices up and up, well that leaves a void for VW to come fill.
  7. If the production version interior is 90% then they have a strong case against Infiniti QX70, MDX and anything Lexus has, I think they beat all them. Cadillac has their work cut out for them for an XT7. Range Rover can go off road in a serious way, the Aviator is no match for that but probably for the Velar which I don’t see that interior being that good. GLE and Q7 are a tall mountain to climb, the Q7 is already better inside than the Navigator and Ford will cut corners somewhere with this vehicle.
  8. Better engine than the XT4 or some others it competes with, looks the same as any Acura which Acura fans will like, but oh my god who threw up all the buttons on the dash? Why are there so many angles, knobs, buttons and switches all over the place?
  9. I think this is really well done. It looks like a Navigator (which makes sense) and it looks even better because it doesn’t have that slab sided pick up truck look that the Navigator is stuck with. Interior looks nice, I like the different colors, you have to sit in it to know what the quality is like but from the pictures it looks good. I read the turbo V6 would be “mightier than super cars.” Lincoln lost me at that point unless this thing has 600 hp in it which I doubt. They should put the 2.7 liter turbo V6 base and the Navigator’s 450 hp V6 as the optional engine to go along with whatever plug in they do. I rarely think Lincoln gets much right but it looks like they got this right unless they really dumb down the production version.
  10. How can the CTS be 196 inches long and have a small back seat? ATS is cramped inside, SRX was criticized for being small inside, despite being the size of a BMW X5 on the outside. It seems to be a common theme of not maximizing interior space.
  11. I think it will sell average, maybe better than an MKC since it is newer but not better than an NX or RDX that have that Honda/Toyota loyalty built in. Being a small crossover and the price point will get it sales but I don’t think anything has enough wow factor to really light up a sales chart.
  12. I could see them doing an XT3 below this. Automakers see no end to crossovers.
  13. I wonder if people will complain about same sausage and different lengths since it has the same face as the XT5 and CT6, hmm... I think it looks good from the front, it has a bold, sharp look to it that should stand out. With the rear end, I don't get these hockey stick shaped tail lights, the CT6 did that sideways jut out too with the taillights, what happened to classic Cadillac vertical tail lights? This car from the rear looks like a CR-V: On the inside, I like the idea behind the clean, modern, minimalist look, it is Tesla-like, the gauge cluster looks good. So I like it in one way, but it looks rather spartan also. The door trim looks like it belongs in a Chevy, there is a lot of plastic around the shift lever. I'd have to sit in and and look around to be sure, but the pictures make me wonder if the people that designed it ever sat in an Audi. Engine is fine, 2.0T is pretty much standard operating procedure for every small lux crossover. My prediction is they made it too small, and it will get compared to the X3, Q5, and GLC and the Cadillac will get criticized for having less interior room by all the car magazines and reviewers. Forgot to say, the price I think is a very good starting point. They got the pricing part right, because I assume it is $34,995 with a $795 destination fee.
  14. This looks quite good, very sharp. I like the hybrid electric motor set up, although I imagine if they make this 80% of them will be a turbo 4 of standard V6 drivetrain. But the 355 hp and electric only ability I like. They are bordering on the SUV-Coupe look, watch that craze catch on more than "4-door coupe" cars, ugh.
  15. I mean the Level 3 autonomous driving system on the A8 isn't helping to sell A8s. The AMG GT outsold the A8 last month, a 2 seat sports car that is $130,000 shouldn't outsell a sedan that costs $80,000. I assume there is a model change over or supply issue with the A8, it shouldn't sell that poorly, but the A8 isn't interesting enough for me to look up what it's issues are.
  16. The E-class and S-class can do hands free but it makes you touch the wheel every 30 seconds which I think is more of the lawyers protecting themselves. But then it isn’t really “hands free” as Cadillac is so that in that respect advantage Cadillac. But Super Cruise can’t change lanes unassisted and Mercedes can change lanes without touching the wheel. Both are level 2 systems. The Audi A8 is the only production car with a level 3 system, so it actually has the best one on the market but no on buys the A8, so how much do these things move the needle.
  17. Looks like a Chevy to me, reminds me of a small Impala. Looks good but looks sort of bland too. Should sell decent with 55 mpg. But I feel like a lot of people don’t care about gas mileage because gas is cheap and they want a crossover. Maybe make a crossover version to get more sales.
  18. The 2019 does yes, I forgot about the release from Detroit and the Wrangler will get it too. No E-turbo though, it is hooked up to the Pentastar V6.
  19. I think they could sell a decent number of pickups and if you don’t need heavy duty hauling and towing, which most people don’t, then a unibody design could give nicer ride and handling. And basically how hard is it to put a bed in the back of an Atlas instead of seats, we aren’t talking huge R&D risk here. They should do it.
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Last year Buick sold 421,000 Excelle's which is a rebadged Opel Astra, Previously the Excell was a rebadged Daewoo Nubira. The Excelle is 1/3 of Buick's China market sales and starts at $17k. The Envision ($34,000) is their #2 seller followed by the $23,000 Verano. Oh yeah, Mercedes is worried about that that price point. Keep in mind a Mercedes CLA200 starts at $43,000 in Chinese pricing. The E-class starts at $70,000 there and is their #2 seller after the C-class. So I don't think Mercedes cares how many Vauxhall/Opel Astras are sold in Europe or China.
  21. China is already a bigger market than the USA. Audi, BMW and Mercedes all sell over 550,000 cars a year in China, they have a commanding lead over Cadillac who sold 175,000 cars in China in 2017. Cadillac has about 350,000 global sales, they could support 4 sedans if there is a lot of commonality in them from a production standpoint.
  22. So does Cadillac need 3 sedans or 4? We know they have CT5 in mid-size and something small in the works. Then we have CT6 and Escala do they need 2 full size sedans when full size sedans are a tough sell? We also don't yet know how they will position them, CT5 could be mid-size car for C-class and 3-series money. Johan said the small car will compete on price with an A3 or 1-series. Where should they price these possible 4 sedans, also considering the track record of Cadillac sedan sales in price points over $60k.
  23. They should install suicide doors and then cancel the Continental the next year. Seems like a typical Ford product planning sort of thing to do. Maybe this can be the new Lincoln signature, and put suicide doors on every vehicle they make, then it will make their cars different than Fords.
  24. Cadillac needs a good mid-size product though, if they take everything about CT6 and chop down a foot in length and make it CT5, they'd be close. Using the engines, transmission, interior, super cruise, etc.
  25. If you put the rear window down that black piece goes down and it is all open. The black piece is only there to seal the windows when up. S-class is the same way.
