Reminds me of my time in the Audi R8. It was... quite a bit different than the Cobalt, at the time.

I give up on auto's, so it's a non-issue for me. I don't plan on buying another automatic until my left foot falls off.

The sounds these 2.0t's make is very intoxicating. It's not the same as the old VR6, but it certainly has its own appeal. I loved flooring it in that MK6

Clicky I guess the media function doesn't work with Vimeo.

Audi's require tender loving care, like most German cars. I wouldn't say they're unreliable, though, especially if you stick to newer ones.
-
Neither have I, so I was unsure. I haven't really heard anything about their reliability for that matter.
-
^ Any input? My mom found one and she seems to like it.

How are PT Cruisers for reliability?

High fructose corn syrup, by any other name

I've been avoiding HFCS whether its good or bad and don't plan on changing. -
Hell, if they're that cheap...

Out of curiousity... what all could it be? My parents asked me how much a transmission for one of these would cost and pretty much told me they are still considering it. It's not something I would really condone for them, but with what you say and the absurdity of a 28k car losing its transmission... I'm curious, myself, if this could be a cheap fix for a great deal. Still looking, otherwise. I found a 2001 Sebring LX coupe with 47k in their price range that might be worth a look. I really just need to see what exactly she likes and doesn't like. Help me pinpoint something, rather than scour endlessly and picking out random possibilities.

Mr. DF... When you have a chance, take a look at the now revised listing for that Concord. Clicky.

Pittsburgh is much closer. Driving to Pitt is an hourly thing. Driving to Philly is a daily thing.

My mom is anti-RWD and anti-V8. She doesn't want another Blazer in sedan disguise. Oh, and just to throw it out there, she wants the Sunfire to be her last manual transmission car. She's getting old. Also she is the one that isn't buying anything with high mileage. One look at my Golf and you'd know I'm completely fine with it. Personally, that Concord we looked at was just proof that low mileage doesn't amount to much. She did like that car, though. A 300M would work great if we found one in our area (Philadelphia is 6 hours too far).

Didn't do that at all. Anyways, I almost hate to ask because I've heard some very, very, very bad things about it, but... 2004 Suzuki Verona? It's in my parents price range and they wanted me to check it out for them.

I attempted that keydance and nothing came up for me.

Well, this one is out of the question. Reg and Olds called it: Transmission. It was slipping, shifting with a good jerk, and on the second test drive I decided to take, refused to upshift. I was cruising along at 40 mph and the tach was at 3k and wouldn't budge. Looking under and listening while the car was idling, there was on odd sound coming from the tranny. Perhaps it was just that Chrysler 'whine' but I never heard it like that. My parents mentioned something about it shifting a little hard, but they made it sound like it was nothing big. Those issues seemed pretty big to me. Aside from that, it was a nice car. A little underbody rust, but nothing too significant. Interior was clean, besides an absolutely filthy steering wheel. Engine ran pretty good, as well. It's just that damn transmission... To add to that, the sellers were completely stupid. They didn't know anything about that car. I asked if they had noticed anything with the transmission, they're responce: "Well, uh, no... I didn't really drive it, just down the block. It probably just needs new oil." After that, I asked about the price and going any lower because of the obvious transmission problems "Well no, we just put a couple hundred in it for a new battery, so I don't we're going to budge on the price any. We have other people interested in it." I guess we'll keep looking.

Avenged Sevenfold's new album "Nightmare".

Must be a location thing... KBB put the retail value at $6,845 for me. I'm going to try the key dance and see what code(s) pop up and have Dallas search google on his Droid. Also get to check it out myself since my parent's don't always notice certain things. But we are about to head out to get it.

My parents checked it out and liked it. Drove well and looked like it was barely used. Only issue was a check engine light. Apparently, it was owned by some 90 year old lady. I'm not sure what the back story is for why she gave it up (sent to a home, perhaps), but she gave it to her niece who is selling it and a 1993 Lincoln Mark 8 for a smaller, newer car. They decided to get it, so tomorrow we're going to pick it up and bring it home. No more ratty-ass Sunfire.

YEAH!!! Oops, got carried away with the all-caps. Click this link and tell me what you think. This is probably the best deal I've found in looking for a car for my mom. I'm not entirely familiar with these cars, though. All I know is that it doesn't have the dreaded 2.7 in it. Let me know.

My PC ran fine with XP, but with Vista, its just horror-tastic. If you have a version of XP to install, buy mine.

The front end is still a mess. Only pics I've actually used showing the front were photoshop'd.

I wasn't planning on it. I had it listed for $500... but everyone was lowballing me, complaining about the work it would need. Some guy had the nerve to offer me $100 to which I replied that I could easily get more by scrapping it. I lost alot of money, but I wasn't going to do anything with it and my Dad has been on my case about my lawn ornaments killing the grass.

About one month ago, this was my driveway: Since then, the Cobalt was deemed a total loss, my brother's friend no longer practically lives with us (the Grand Prix in the pic), I bought that Olds, and now today, I sold the Millenia for paltry $200. Someone got a pretty good deal if they do all the work it needs. A few random other car related things... My brother hit a deer with his Alero. My Mom is officially looking for a Sunfire replacement. She'd like to find something with low mileage that's newer and fuel efficient. We did find an 02 Cavalier with 50k for $3k, but the seller never contacted us back, so I figure it's sold. Also found a 99 Cutlass with 47k for $2k, though it looks like it has more than a few issues. I, personally, came across this one and think it would be a great car for her, considering my infinite amount of parts, more than it could ever possibly need. Plus, it's the limited edition Trek, which has some upgrades over other 2.0 Jettas. Aaaaand finally, the Golf is officially inspected. It only took 9 months... Started life as dented up beater with a tan interior and now its a slightly less dented up beater with a black interior. Somehow, after all that work I did, it really doesn't seem like much was accomplished. I might start a build thread to detail all the changes. I'm not entirely sure it was all worth the effort in the first place, though. Sounds extensive on paper... or a forum. Not so much in person where alot of the work is trivialized. Sure, I did this, and I did that, but I didn't really "fix" it. My biggest issue is the front end alignment. I may have to take it down to Ocnblu. *nods* Just to list everything: -Replaced hatch -Replaced front and rear bumpers -Replaced left front fender -Replaced bumper support -Replaced headlights and taillights -Replaced grill -Switched out steel wheels for factory alloy wheels -Added factory fog lights including: fog lights, wiring harness, relay, and fog light capable headlight switch -Added factory roof mounted amplified antenna. -Added aftermarket stereo with component speakers and Sirius. -Added factory keyless alarm with dash-mounted lock button -Switched out tan "beaver" interior for black interior including: seats, carpet, floor mats, shift knob, lower and upper A, B, and C pillar plastics, hatch shelf, hatch plastics, and door panels. -Switched out 2-piece door/console mounted seat belts for single pillar mounted seatbelts -Replaced radiator -Replaced front struts -Replaced front brakes -Replaced thermostat, coolant reservoir, and switched to factory VW coolant. Next up on my list is to replace the fuel pump and switch out the brand new tires from the steel wheels onto my alloy wheels. I also bought an aftermarket exhaust for it, but I may or may not use it.
