    2012 Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen debuts the new masculine infused 2012 Beetle - A sportier than ever iteration of the worldwide icon.
  2. I hadn't considered actual build locations, rather the origin of the maker. If I did, my German vehicles would feel slightly more Mexican.
  3. Surprising end to this never-ending saga. Congrats... again. Let's hope this one works out.
  4. So, this stumped me for a while until I read the very lengthy owners manual. Apparently, on the Legacy, the headlight switch is linked with the ignition. You shut the car off, the headlights shut off regardless of where the switch is at. So, in order to turn the parking lights on with the car off... there's a separate switch for the sole function of using the parking lights without the ignition. Nifty, but somewhat over complicated.
  5. I took a trip down memory lane as I sifted through posts of years past. I dug all the way back to 2005 when I still sought after the affection of a female and had just started driving my Grand Am. This piqued my curiosity as to the breakdown of all the vehicles that have been in my life thus far. After some time in OpenOffice, I bring you this lovely spreadsheet. <table frame="VOID" rules="NONE" border="0" cellspacing="0" cols="14"> <colgroup><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"><col width="86"></colgroup> <tbody> <tr> <td width="86" align="LEFT" height="17"> </td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Year</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Make</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Model</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Engine</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Transmission</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Drive</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Style</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Origin</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Ownership</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Usage</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Mileage</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Demise</td> <td width="86" align="LEFT">Current</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">First</td> <td align="LEFT">1995</td> <td align="LEFT">Pontiac</td> <td align="LEFT">Grand Am</td> <td align="LEFT">2.3l I4 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">5sd Manual</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Coupe</td> <td align="LEFT">USA</td> <td align="LEFT">2yrs 7mos</td> <td align="LEFT">4mos</td> <td align="LEFT">3000</td> <td align="LEFT">Engine</td> <td align="LEFT">No</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="18">Second</td> <td align="LEFT">1995</td> <td align="LEFT">Mazda</td> <td align="LEFT">Millenia</td> <td align="LEFT">2.5l V6 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">4spd Auto</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Sedan</td> <td align="LEFT">Japan</td> <td align="LEFT">4yrs 3mos</td> <td align="LEFT">1yr 3mos</td> <td align="LEFT">10000</td> <td align="LEFT">Life</td> <td align="LEFT">No</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">Third</td> <td align="LEFT">1984</td> <td align="LEFT">Oldsmobile</td> <td align="LEFT">Cutlass</td> <td align="LEFT">5.0l V8 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">3spd Auto</td> <td align="LEFT">RWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Coupe</td> <td align="LEFT">USA</td> <td align="LEFT">2yrs </td> <td align="LEFT">9mos</td> <td align="LEFT">8000</td> <td align="LEFT">Life</td> <td align="LEFT">No</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="18">Fourth</td> <td align="LEFT">1998</td> <td align="LEFT">Volkswagen</td> <td align="LEFT">Jetta</td> <td align="LEFT">2.0l I4 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">4spd Auto</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Sedan</td> <td align="LEFT">Germany</td> <td align="LEFT">2yrs 11mos</td> <td align="LEFT">8mos</td> <td align="LEFT">14000</td> <td align="LEFT">Wreck</td> <td align="LEFT">Yes</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">Fifth</td> <td align="LEFT">2005</td> <td align="LEFT">Chevrolet</td> <td align="LEFT">Cobalt</td> <td align="LEFT">2.2l I4 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">4spd Auto</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Coupe</td> <td align="LEFT">USA</td> <td align="LEFT">1yr 5mos</td> <td align="LEFT">1yr 3mos</td> <td align="LEFT">32000</td> <td align="LEFT">Wreck</td> <td align="LEFT">No</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">Sixth</td> <td align="LEFT">1994</td> <td align="LEFT">Volkswagen</td> <td align="LEFT">Golf</td> <td align="LEFT">2.0l I4 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">5sd Manual</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Hatchback</td> <td align="LEFT">Germany</td> <td align="LEFT">1yr 5mos</td> <td align="LEFT">9mos</td> <td align="LEFT">12000</td> <td align="LEFT">-</td> <td align="LEFT">Yes</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">Seventh</td> <td align="LEFT">1991</td> <td align="LEFT">Honda</td> <td align="LEFT">CRX</td> <td align="LEFT">1.5l I4 N/A</td> <td align="LEFT">5sd Manual</td> <td align="LEFT">FWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Hatchback</td> <td align="LEFT">Japan</td> <td align="LEFT">6mos</td> <td align="LEFT">6mos</td> <td align="LEFT">12000</td> <td align="LEFT">-</td> <td align="LEFT">Yes</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="LEFT" height="17">Eight</td> <td align="LEFT">2005</td> <td align="LEFT">Subaru</td> <td align="LEFT">Legacy</td> <td align="LEFT">2.5l H4 Turbo</td> <td align="LEFT">5spd Auto</td> <td align="LEFT">AWD</td> <td align="LEFT">Sedan</td> <td align="LEFT">Japan</td> <td align="LEFT">1wk</td> <td align="LEFT">1wk</td> <td align="LEFT">400</td> <td align="LEFT">-</td> <td align="LEFT">Yes</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> What would yours look like?
  6. That picture leaves me feeling rather cold... but it's also a horribly over-processed piece of photography. For that alone, I'll give it a pass.
  7. Driving will do alot, true. So far, I'm only averaging about 22 mpg in the Legacy, but that seems to be the norm for these. If I can't beat the official rating, I'll be unhappy with myself.
  8. Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 summer tires. They were cheap and had pretty good reviews.
  9. Much kudos for the purchase of said vehicle. Excellent choice and we require an in depth thread similar to mine.
  10. Well... new tires are ordered. #$@%!
  11. That is what I was getting at. My idea of a CAI is at the benefit of increased airflow. Anyways, I had my first problem already. During work tonight, I suddenly had a vibration develop. I stop and step outside to have a look and, to my dismay, what do I see? A lovely little bubble on the sidewall of the right front tire. Unbelievable. New tires were planned, but not this early. I'm not going to have the extra cash for a set of tires until my next paycheck.
  12. That's what I thought, too... until I saw the separate intake.
  13. So... I was originally searching for a Grand Prix GTP Comp-G, as some of you may know. I had my preferred dealership looking for one, but it had been a few weeks. I decided to check in to see how the search was going. Upon pulling in, this red car catches the corner of my eye. It's sitting in the far lot and looks to be new. "Is that a... Legacy? Oh... I think it is. Wait... *catches sight of a hood scoop* Thats a GT!" Closer inspection reveals it is, indeed, a 2.5GT and it is fresh off the truck with the auction stickers still displayed. "This just might do." After some talks confirmed that they still haven't found my car of choice, I automatically ask about the Legacy. Once I get behind the wheel, I'm sold. They didn't even have a price for me yet, so they hold it for until I can come back in. Two days later, we finalize it. After everything was said and done, I paid about $13k including tax and tags. KBB retail was $16.6k, so I'm pretty satisfied. Some details: 85k miles 250hp turbo Boxer-4 5spd manumatic Heated leather Sunroof 6CD changer with integrated sub. Dual zone automatic climate Electroluminescent gauges HID headlights Tinted windows 17" wheels with snow tires 2 previous owners Clean carfax save for $1500 fender bender with 2nd owner Unlike the Grand Prix, where I would have wanted to do some extensive modifications, I'm mostly satisfied with this Legacy as is. I do plan on upgrading the brakes and tires soon. As well, I could see a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust in its future, but its plenty fast as it is. Now, for pics.
  14. Some details... 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited... 5spd manumatic... Boxer-4 turbo... Loaded with everything but navigation. Had a brief photoshoot yesterday, so I'll have some pictures up soon enough.
