The point is, its too late and a waste of money to restart production on a class of car GM gave up a decade ago. Whether it was right or wrong, it happened and its done. Let's be realistic. What would be a better investment for Cadillac - a huge, floaty body-on-frame moderately-equipped sedan that would only primarily sell at volume discounts to fleets that use them as glorified taxis or a DTS-sized ULS RWD, V8 luxury sedan that can be truly seen as a global luxury competitor? I vote for the latter and I bet you 10-to-1 Cadillac does, too. I don't know if you've been in livery Town Cars lately, but these aren't top-of-the-line models; they're base Signatures with heavy-duty service paks. The only reason Lincoln sees any profit from these cars are because they're so damn old all the tooling was bought and paid for decades ago. Its a lousy investment for Cadillac to start a line of fleet cars. Think about it.

I can forgive 'hard' whatever plastics for what aims to be an incredible price point. Lots o' nice features.

So...you're telling me that car theft, beatings, gang activity, premeditated murder, and sexual exploitation of women all existed before video games? You're such a liar.

What's wrong with that? Its 4mpg better than my 10 year-old, two-ton, V8...oh...

Never realized how bad Detroit urban sprawl was...

I wish we had more high-rises around here. Inland though. No more on the beach. PLEASE. -
Here's what our Bears use Impalas for... CSOs are non-sworn officers who respond to non-emergency highway calls, disabled vehicles on the highway, and as runners between Troops. Very reasonable vehicle selection for the duty. And just for folks like Z... I do love seeing these...well...in most circumstances. These were acquired in 2002 brand-new, so we won't be seeing these retired anytime soon. The Caprice fleet is really shrinking, though, as is expected. Oh, and to end any doubts about the Impala's popularity... All '05s. Hit the road in October. I can proudly say I was probably one of the first pulled over by one.

They certainly could've. Look to the Corvair and Falcon for smaller domestic cars that - if followed up by excellent successors in the 1970s - could've easily relegated Japanese cars to the subcompact and compact market.

Ralph Nader would love that Jag. I really like the Italian Stallion below it. Wish I had the money sitting around. I'd love to tell people, "Oh, that? That's a Maserati."

Chernobyl didn't even have a full containment vessel because of costs associated with building such a thing to fit around the large reactor, so when the steam explosion blew apart the pressure vessel, it ejected everything skyward and allowed oxygen to start and feed a massive graphite fire. That's what made a tragic situation truly catastrophic.

I did the same and ended up with $26,555, but that's because I included a bunch of stupid crap like wheel arch moldings, a rear diffuser, and wheel locks. A reasonably-loaded Mazda3 5-door is more like $22,100 with door moldings and Moonroof/6-disc changer/Bose Package, something most people would probably invest in. This car would also include an automatic and leather seats, but no NAV. Not bad considering the price.

I saw three Kia Amantis parked in a row today. The fact that three people have bought Amantis is quite disturbing.

If it were up to me, NASCAR would consist of every imaginable vehicle, from sports cars to pickups, Hyundai Elantras to Olds Silhouettes, all stock with modifications limited to keeping the existing powertrain as much as possible. Turbos, superchargers, but no 800hp carb'd V8 crap. Imagine Jeff Gordon's #24 Buick LeSabre neck-and-neck with Mark Martin and the Viagra Town Car with Dale Jr. in the #3 Intimidator Spectra hot on their rear...

60% of the time, it works every the time.

I'm pretty sure the 2.7l has always been an option in the fleet edition of the SE as in the 2006 Fleet Buyer's Guide, it lists two seperate SEs, one retail with discounts and the fleet special with discounts.

Negatory. Visit the Dodge website. And, yes, I can buy it without being General Electric or Alamo.
-
Um... The point was the massive disparity in equipment level vs. price. A LaCrosse CX offers ABS, traction control, and a longer warranty for a $1,000 more than the Impala LS. In others words, you get more when you pay more. In the case of 300 vs Charger SE, you pay more but get less - far, far less. I don't see an appropriate comparison to the two.

What about the Grandfire? FireAm? BonneFire? OnFire? Oh, wait, that's the Fiero...

If you ask me, I'd rather see a more economical engine. I could care less how the inside of the top of the glovebox feels.

You guys need to register your cars in Florida where we have 91 - that's right, NINETY-ONE - different 'specialty' plate options. My father has a USMC one since he served I have have the standard. Gawk at them here.

Ocn's post in the Charger Sales thread got me to thinking and researching. Here are my findings: Charger SE - $22.995 Advantages over 300: ABS w/brake assist AutoStick 5-speed Traction Control Stability Control 3.5l V6 300 Base - $24.200 Advantages over Charger SE: Power driver's seat  Are you kidding me? Why would you buy a base 300 over a Charger? Chrysler needs to learn how to price cars. Rather, no, they don't, because this makes the Dodge a cheaper, better-looking, better value.
-
Its a sportwagon. Wagons never, like, really left.
-
This is what almost bothers me - how come a base Charger is so much better a car than a base 300? More hp/torque, more trunk space(?!?!), standard ABS w/brake assist, standard traction control, standard stability control, and better looks for $2,000 less. You can't get any of that on the 300! You've gotta be brain damaged (or Alamo) to get a 300 base. Why isn't this pointed out by the Chrysler-humpers?
-
It was joke, guys. I'm not getting what all this hostility is about. Seriously. We need to chill out and accept that more than one person can make a joke about something. No names were mentioned and I don't see any links posted. So...yeah...

You might be a redneck if your gunrack has a gunrack on it!

Crown Vic will be the best 'utility' crusier, Charger perhaps the best pursuit car, and an 3.9-powered Impala the obvious best 'city' squad car. Really, the choices today are almost better than ever. Rather than choosing between a boxy, heavy, fuel-sucking V8 tank and a whale-like, heavy, fuel-sucking V8 tank, police agencies can now select a mixture of cars that fit their needs. I'm pretty confident the new V6 Impala will be sought after for its fuel efficiency by larger departments - do you really need a high-performance V8 to sit at a construction site? Locally, the Florida Highway Patrol uses 2000+ Impys as auxillary cars while the Pinellas Sheriff's Office mixes them with a few last-gen Intrepids and the rest of the Vics.
