  1. Um, as a reminder... Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to modify the LaCrosse, Lucerne, or Enclave as a Super trim.
  2. New Lucerne CXS LaCrosse Super Grand Prix GT s/c or GXP Used Park Avenue Ultra 2nd-gen Aurora 4.0 Toronado P71 Crown Vic
  3. G6 replaces Grand Prix on price, G8 replace Grand Prix and Bonneville in size and performance and high-end price (SSEi, GTP, GXPs). As someone pointed out in another thread, the transaction prices for V6 G6s are as high/higher than Grand Prixs.
  4. Grandville was the single dumbest name ever to grace a Pontiac aside from Aztek. Seriously. Yuck. Parisienne is also...yeah. G8 is better than those! In any case, the alphnumeric name-game is trite and meaningless. That established, I've moved on to care about the actual car, which will kick copious amounts of ass. As far as pricing goes, Northie is right. Lutz said it would base for "mid-$25k," whatever that means. If it follows the Bonneville price structure, it'll be beautiful. SE = G8 base ~ $28k SLE = G8 GT ~ $33k SSEi/GXP = GP GXP ~ $37k
  5. G8 coming early '08; replaces Grand Prix Link to Original Article @ Autonews Pontiac will reveal its new rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan. The car, likely dubbed the G8, goes on sale early in 2008 and eventually replaces the Grand Prix. The car is developed on General Motors' new global rear-drive architecture that also will be shared with the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro. That car is expected in 2009. The Pontiac model will be assembled by GM's Australian subsidiary, Holden. A 360-hp V-8 will be offered. "The intent is for this to be a go-fast program, so we're talking months rather than years for production," says one source close to Pontiac and familiar with the program. The Grand Prix will be offered for the 2008 model year. It is unknown whether a 2009 model is planned. GM has not set pricing for the G8 yet, but sources say it probably will be priced just above the Grand Prix's starting price. The Grand Prix starts at $22,315, including shipping.
  6. Sorry for not replying to your PM. Yes, sir, I have received your check and your calendar should be to you shortly!
  7. No harm done
  8. Well, it makes sense: Base (volume) V6 Midlevel (volume) V8 High-output V8
  9. It was symptimatic of all the problems the GTO encountered - lack of trunk space, lack of certain options, powerful but not mind-blowing powertrain at launch, dated styling - back in 2004. It was a car literally badged as a Pontiac with little effort put into making it a appealing American car. Let's be realistic here, the overstyled "third-world" SSEi in my driveway looked far more modern than the GTO despite being four years 'older.' And while the smooth aero looks may have been fine and appealing in the rest of the world (which always seems a step behind American styling anyway), it didn't fit in as a 2004 model here, especially because it looked largely like a car that was just gotten rid of the year before... And despite it all, I can still love the GTO for the great car it is while still recognizing why it failed in the market. In contrast, the G8 replaces the Grand Prix and Bonneville (guaranteed customer base) as a sedan (lucurative market) that was designed with North American export in mind (compromise-free) with contemporary styling (not outdated) for what promises to be a competitive price (volume coupes are V6s and priced below $30k).
  10. Diesel: Hybrid: That's the image in the general public's mind.
  11. Again, for those who think its not Pontiac enough, keep in mind this car is a quick fix until North American Zeta production is ramped up. As a secondary, this gives Pontiac designers time to properly and realistically gauge feedback regarding the car. Finally, would you rather have this now and something else in a few years or wait until 2009 to see anything at all? P.S. For those who were afraid we'd have a repeat of GTOness with the lack of a moonroof. Don't worry.
  12. The rest of us call those skid marks...
  13. Because 235hp is the most you can get out of a 'performance' Dodge.
  14. ...? Looks sort of like they covered up a GTO.
  15. Yeah, I think it was mentioned somewhere that some mfgrs asked that the cameras be turned off or diverted during important setups and test runs, so I assume the G8 and Highlander may be setting up now? Way to go, GM. We already got what we wanted!
  16. Saw your auction. I suspect most people who would pick up a vintage car on eBay like the thought of a one-way plane trip to wherever the car is located and a romantic cross-country home in your new/old Merry Oldsmobile. Your leaking fuel pump eighty-sixes that notion as having to fix what you just bought is not romantic or idealistic at all. Again, not your fault, just the likely standpoint of the average eBay classic buyer - he's either wants to restore something rare or drive it home like it came off the lot for a bargain. Let's face it - its not a 442. Its not a Hurst. Its not a Toronado. Its not Chuck Berry's car. And its not a 1982 Ninety-Eight coupe on 23" rims and 23sq meters of rust that sold for nearly twice your reserve last week. Its stupid, but that's the market apparently. You could always try selling it locally, but I think a car like yours is best kept with you. You enjoy it, you care for it, and honestly, few others would. I don't know how 'bad' your Seville is, but try selling it locally. If its that bad, part it out. You've got the room to do it. Plus, much of the mechanicals are interchangable with Eldorado and some DeVilles. Don't know how much the Datsun is worth, but it can't be much either. Like with my car and me, its worth more to you than to someone else who's probably going to beat it to hell anyway. Good luck in any case! And if you do fix the pump, I'll buy it for half what I'm offering Camino for his GTO - $48.00. I'll let you sleep on it.
  17. Its one of those projector screen displays at the Chicago Auto Show running random montages of Pontiacs (or Buicks or whatever stand it is) in the background. Part of the display and captured running by one of the Chicago webcams.

  19. I didn't even know they put Diesels in these... 1983 Cutlass Ciera 4.3 Diesel Must've gotten rather good mileage when...you know...when it ran... And if I ever had lots and lots of money, I would want to restore stupid ugly cars like these. Can you imagine having a garage of 1980s Diesel Oldsmobiles? Yeah, not too appealing, but unique nonetheless.
  20. Nope. That's SEMA 2005's Cobalt Widebody Concept...
  21. 12:01am Wednesday
