  1. Kerkorian will most likely push for GMAC to be sold off then dump his stock right after the sale and pocket the money from the sale. He is a great business man but right now GM needs people with dedication to the company not to the dollar.
  2. Who pissed in your Cherrios this morning Josh?
  3. Uhh, buddy ttops or ANY non closed top car is going to cost more money than the base. It added like $800 to the price of the 4th gen and its basic, ttop, design was the same as the 3rd gen which sold in droves and paid for the design. TTops will cost at LEAST $1000. Which means that it will be more than the Solstice. Also you are fighting a loosing arguement saying that Solstice buyers ARE Camaro buyers because a LOT of Camaro guys want the V8 with more power and rear seats. The performance Camaro buyer will opt for the V8 and will most likely load the car up and he will NOT buy a vert. A typical Solstice buyer will be older and can afford to have a second car to drive when the weather is bad.
  4. There is a big difference between a 20k 2 seat convertible and a 20k 4 seat hard top. The cars would rarely be shopped by the same people.
  5. Sigma-lite has been in refinement for about 2 years then work stopped for about 18 months while VE from Holden was considered then a little OVER a year ago work started up again but this time using Holden's cheaper version of Sigma's IRS and Holden will most likely use McPherson struts up front per Mark Ruess' numerous quotes on the subject. V6 base should start around $20k with a midlevel V8 around $25k. Top level coming in about 2 years into production around $32-33k and possibly a vert for higher. About the market being there: GM may be the number 2 player at 70-85k units a year but it beats 0 per year. Also there will be at least 1 RWD sedan on the same platform being made at a high capacity flexible efficient plant, Oshwa.
  6. Ok then do that but don't be a jack@ss to a new guy for posting what he heard from what he believes is a reliable source, who might actually be working on the car. Also remember that things change VERY quickly when it comes to auto shows, the Dodge Charger could have been shown when the 300 was but was pulled to not take attention from the Chrylser 300. I don't believe that the Fbodfather or GM officially declaring that a Camaro concept would be at NAIAS, did I miss that? No I didn't people made assumptions. I didn't have my hopes up I know that this would be the earliest year to see something, at the time, Sigma-lite based. If people want to belive AH-HA or evok more power to them I read carefully everything that I can that they say, but that doesn't mean they are the end all. Other people get information that they don't and sometimes the plans change. A Camaro might not be at NAIAS but hey it might be. Lets not jump the gun on somebody saying it might be there. Afterall the most reliable source of all things Camaro has left MANY hints that something VERY important to Camaro enthusiests will be at Detroit in January. So unless he is just yanking our chains and he is driving one of his fleet of B4Cs or Mr. Moss' ZL1 I think I will listen to him.
  7. He didn't say it would be a production car now did he?
  8. I didn't read all the posts but I put Buick for no other reason than volume. Buick moves WAY more cars that Saturn and I am pretty sure it moves more than Pontiac by a good margin too. Also Buick has THE highest customer loyalty in the industry. That counts for something.
  9. Guys, calm down everything Mr. Says fits with what we currently know. Lets not run off a potential inside connection. BTW to those questioning why would they be claying the car now: Lets say that GM shows the dealers a preview of the car in Vegas this month. Who said they are going to see the actual car? They could be seeing clay models or a clown car and an interior buck. Clays are still used to get all the lines down of cars even with computers and lots of other stuff. You guys should watch the Roush episode of Rides or the one that was on the other night with Foose's Mustang. They clayed the front end for Foose's car and the Roush had a clay model that was cut out by a computer to work with since they worked on their Mustang parts before the car was shown to the public. Lets not all be Doubting Thomas's, Ok.
  10. Sweet  . I like the vents around the fog lights.
  11. What day did you pick it up? I was at the museum doing the 1 o clock tour on Friday the 7th. I went to the museum before hand and did a quick run through. They had about 5 vettes in the museum and when I got back from the tour they only had the yellow Z06 and a maroon coupe left. The owners were there and people were going through all the options and how to operate EVERYTHING on the car inside the museum. It was VERY sweet. I could have seen your car being built! That is so cool. Did you get to drive it off the assembly line and onto the Dyno? I thought that was about the coolest thing I have ever heard of. One day I will do a museum delivery of my corvette, I am patient but it will happen.
  12. If GM was to sell a brand SAAB would be the best to get rid of. I belive there are a few board members that would like to see SAAB go. Think of it this way: all of the US SAABs could be Saturns or Buicks. Make a compact Buick out of the 9-3 make the 2.8 HF standard with the 2.8T optional. Then overseas GM has the BTS for Europe and Opel and Vuaxhall for the other stuff. SAAB is not needed. While I like SAAB's style and conservative exteriors I don't think GM would or should pass up a good chance to sell it and make a profit.
  13. I would imagine that crash safety is about the same as the C5 &C6 which is very good.
  14. Having seen an XLR-V or two at the Corvette plant I gotta say it looks VERY good with the new grill. Also the XLR is super sweet by itself. I would consider an XLR-V over the C6 Z06 if I had the money.
  15. I don't think that SAAB needs the 9-2x. The SAAB 9-3 Sport Combi makes a great wagon and the size is not very different at all. Plus IMO the SportCombi looks nicer AND I would rather have the 2.8T 6 to the 2.5 T boxer 4 anyday of the week. Edit: Link didn't work. I went to Edmunds.com and compared the HHR to the 9-2X to the 9-3 sportcombi.

    Autoweek

Apparently it is old info. Unless this is a mid range model with a Solstice GXP with the 2.4 Turbo coming later.
  17. Search for DI 3.6 There was a few articles that were posted mentioning it.
  18. I don't think the 3.6 is behind the 3.4 DOHC do you? So then they aren't playing catch up. You just want to belive that they are playing catch up so you reason that they are by comparing the top motor from years ago to the base motor now. Way to go.
  19. Do you know how much cheaper the 3.5 VVT is compared to the 3.4 DOHC? Have you seen the size of the 3.4 DOHC compared to a 60° pushrod? I didn't think so. The new 60°s are nothing to sneeze at. Also when comparin the new Civics motor to the Ecotec I think if you compared it to a 1.8L version of the Ecotec you would see that the Ecotec makes more torque at a lower RPM AND it would get the same gas mileage. Also I would think, in a car that weighs the same, it would be as fast or faster. Just because a car revs higher doesn't make it faster.
  20. Caddy 16 AND Cien should both have been made.
  21. Is there ANYTHING that is not constantly changing within GM?
  22. On a race car that doesn't see any street time? Sure I would love to have a huge redline and roaring exhaust note. On the street? No give me a long broad torque curve that is faster and gets better fuel economy EVERY day of the week, one of the reason's that I will eventually replace my 3.4 DOHC Monte with a 3.4 or 3.8 OHV V6 W body.
  23. Maybe GM will debut it in NY or somewhere in Europe.
