  1. The LS7 revs to a redline of like 7500 RPMS. Better than MANY DOHC V8s. it is lighter and easier to package. Also a DOHC engine sharing a block with the LSx V8 would be as big as a big block, see ZR1's LT5 for comparison.LS9 won't be OHC.
  2. I personally think that a Theta Hummer could do well, just IMO.
  3. As I said on CZ28 when the first pic was found it reminds me of the Saturn Curve a LOT.
  4. SERIOUSLY take the FWD vs RWD argument somewhere else guys I want to see if we can get some information on the Ultra v8s.
  5. Alright guys can we get this back on track?
  6. Cadillac should never follow the imports to the point of mimicking engine displacements. Homogenization has slowly been killing the aspirational automobile. Call it the 'NASCARification' if that works better for you. Also- increasing displacement to increase power has been a running practice of many of the imports- Cadillac has been increasing power & decreasing displacement for many years now. NorthStar just dropped .2 liters in it's recent redesign, what's the point in increasing it to 5.0 liters? That is NOT even remotely considered being competitive. The 4.4 Northstar was debored to make the cylinder walls thicker. It wasn't because it was more efficient it was because engineers didn't want the clinders to crack under the intense pressure of the supercharger.
  7. I belive the parts sharing between the HF V6 and the Ultra is supposed to make it cost less to build, the N* shares no main parts with other current GM engines. The increased volume from it not being a Caddy only motor would also help offset the cost of changing from the N* to the new design.Edit: I do not think the program was cancelled. I think people extrapolated Lutz saying something like no V8 at launch for Enclave or no plans for a V8 at this time to the Ultra V8 is dead, which would be incorrect.
  8. Charlie, I know you are going to like the badge on this car! Z28
  9. I would like anyone and everyone's help to figure this some things out about the Ultra V8, insider help is especially appreciated. Alright so what do we know about the Ultra V8? It will be OHC with some parts sharing with the HF V6. It will be FWD compatible. Speculation: Will it be the replacement for the Northstar? Will it be DOHC or will it be SOHC? Will it be DI or standard injection? Will it be smaller than the Northstar? Will it be RWD? Will it have forced induction applications? Will it be available with a stick? Will it fit into an epsilon? Will it be a global engine or just in the US, like the Northstar pretty much is? Will it have different displacements? Will it have different power levels depending on applications, Buick vs Caddy? Will Pontiac and Saturn use this engine or will it be a strictly Buick/Caddy engine, like the ill fated 4.0 Olds N* based V8? Any of these questions that can be answered would be greatly appreciated.
  10. For those that didn't read the thread for whatever reason: Josh said he had reports of the Outlook being shelved. That is IT. He didn't say it was dead, although I as well as many other did make that assumption. The assumption that it was dead by posters on C&G, not Josh or other staff, is what caused the problems. As far as Josh having to appoligize that is just idiotic. He got a tip and ran with it, just like EVERY other enthusiest website would have. It was true and IS true even now. GM asked that the story be removed and Josh removed it, just like he did with the Ion picture. Just like he didn't show the next CTS picture, just like he didn't show a lot of the stuff that he and others have access to. The only time where C&G has kept something out is when they found pics of GMT900 peices WAY before anyone else had anything. For those calling for something, BACK OFF! You may not get what you like if keep harping on this!
  11. Just curious who were you addressing? Also 'bad' is subjective what could seem really bad to you might not matter to me.
  12. Well I thought the word going around was like a 66 Impala but I don't know the differences between the two but here's to the RWD Impala making a comeback!
  13. I have a better idea than saying my friends doesn't do this. Take out your Tahoe on a test drive then do the same with another 06 Tahoe on the lot with the service manager and sales manager along for the ride. Drive the same speed down the same road. If there is ANY difference between yours and theirs then they MUST fix it because it obviously isn't normal. They CAN'T refuse to fix it if it isn't normal. Also be sure you go along for the ride and if you can bring along a small recording device and put it in the same place on each car and then play the two parts back to back. That will make it 100% sure that they can't say that your truck is normal.
  14. If it has C-flex I would say it is safe. Perhaps after the refreshed 360s go it will get another product, Lambda or sub theta but if GM upgraded it to C-flex my money says its safe.
  15. And sadly moments later Mrs. Rogers burst into flames. Remember boys and girls don't fan a fart around a Bar-B-Q!
  16. I agree. I think it was just a reflection of the front Grill, notice the shape, texture, and fill of it.
  17. I belive it has to do with the main market for the cars. The Caddies' main market is the US where people prefer larger cars to smaller ones. The BMW and Mercedes cars are mainly marketed in the EU. I don't know what market the G35 has the largest volume in but it is perhaps more US intended than Japan, where I imagine the typical car is quite a bit smaller than the US.My point is that perhaps the CTS is a better size than the 3 series or 5 series because it works better for more people. Putting cars in classes while making it easier to compare on paper doesn't mean jack to someone because the 3 series may be a hair to small while the 5 series may be a hair to big and the CTS is just right. Same could be said for the 5,7 and STS.
  18. Its ok for a car to be different. Not every car needs to be the same size as the nearest comparable BMW.
  19. Refreshed front end with Velite style grill and probably new head lights. 5.3 DOD V8 from Grand Prix GXP and Impala SS. Quiet tuned interior and hopefully Magnaride. Maybe a small change in interior, like the 06 GP got.
  20. Did you buy yours new? My mom's 97 bird had solid plastic plugs in the vents.
  21. GM has shown 2 different GMT355s with LSx V8s. The Colorado SS could pass for what would be production. Pic of the Cruz engine bay Also lets not forget that the Holden version of the DMaXX is using the HF V6! At least 1 person from GM that I can site has worked on the 3700.
