  1. C'mon...no more derailing, please. I'd hate to have to lock this, but none of this is helping Bill. Everyone stay on topic from this point forward. Thanks.
  2. Oblu - put me in the camp that thinks you should just tell them and get it over with. Now, this is coming from someone whose personal situation is nothing like yours, but I do know that keeping something inside and letting it eat at you will start to affect your physical and mental well being over time. It's pretty obvious from your posts that keeping everything inside is bothering you, so for the sake of your long term health, I say just come clean about everything, and let the chips fall where they may. Things will be said, feelinngs will be hurt, but in the end each side knows where the other side stands. Given the relationship that you have with your mom and dad now, I think that over time once the shock wears off you'll be able to continue things the way they were, and maybe even get closer to them. Coming from a hetero, these words probably mean nothing, but I hope they help.
  3. She should probably figure out how much she plans to tow before deciding. The 4.2 and 5.3 are roughly equal on HP, but the 5.3 trumps the I6 on torque. Unless she's planning on towing a travel trailer or large motorboat, I'd say just get the I6. I drove a Trailblazer EXT with the I6 (before the power upgrade), and it was surprisingly lively for a big lumbering SUV. I'd imagine it's even better with the short wheelbase 9-7x.
  4. To explain why they said the Sky was the better brand image builder over the Solstice, consider the three cars that immediately followed each Kappa in their respective brands. Sky: Aura, Vue, Astra Solstice: Torrent, G5, G6 GXP For the average on-looker, the Sky clearly signifies the start of something new and different at Saturn. Meanwhile, the Solstice almost looks like an anomaly in the Pontiac lineup, as it's released amid ho-hum products and thinly disguised Chevrolets. I conveniently left the G8 off the Pontiac list because that car will probably end up being the image builder for Pontiac. As for the Kappa-to-Chevy thing, I just don't see it necessary given the low-volume nature of Kappa. The brands that needed them the most got them. Besides, Chevy has the Corvette and will have the Camaro. No need for a third roadster. I'd much rather see GM offer a barebones Corvette in the low 30s.
  5. If you thought the backlash from going back to exposed headlights was bad.... Note to GM: The current front-engine/rear transaxle setup works great in the Corvette and is even preferred by some drivers. Leave the Corvette alone. If you want a mid-engined Cien companion so badly, make it a Pontiac. THere are a lot of Fiero fans out there left wanting more.
  6. The Cobalt SS/SC has a huge following and more than its share of street cred, and I don't think I've ready a single overly negative review about it. The only knocks the media have made against it involve the interior plastics and the firm suspension. The SRT-4 got plenty of kudos when it came out, but from what I remember the media dropped it like a rock when the Cobalt came out. I've never read a single comparison between the SRT-4 and the import pocket rockets. I don't think the media will be as merciless with the HHR SS as you think. The drive will seal the deal. As far as looks go, as Derek said that's in the eye of the beholder. I hate the Caliber and even SRT-4 in trim you couldn't pay me to want to be seen in one.
  7. You may be right about the Caliber killing the HHR SS. On the spec sheet and in a straight line. The Neon SRT-4 did the same thing to the Cobalt SS/SC, as did the Viper to the base Corvette. The HHR SS will win out on handling (that Nurburgring-tuned suspension ought to be good for something) and overall refinement, just like GM always does.
  8. Here you go: http://www.lwsdesign.com/contents/images/p...06/z06-full.jpg
  9. The F-22 is a beautiful aircraft. Those maneuvers are amazing. A lesser plane would be a pile of flaming rubble on that airfield.
  10. Talk on the cell phone (puts on flame suit) Drink coffee (I wouldn't have such a hatred of this if I hadn't gotten rear ended by someone who admitted taking their eyes off the road to reach for their coffee) Drink alcohol (duh) Pick their nose, especially those who look stick their finger all the way up there Play their music so loud that it vibrates my mirrors
  11. The exterior is probably the first Chrysler product since the last Intrepid that doesn't make me want to throw up. I can't believe I'm saying this about a Chrysler product but....it's really not bad. The interior...wow. Dull, drab, poor fit and finish. Absolutely terrible.
  12. Or, we could stick this giant pile of crap into a brown bag big enough for it to fit in, put it on Toyota's doorstep, and light it on fire.
  13. Hot. I actually like the new grille. It'll probably trickle down in chrome form to lesser HHRs eventually. I would be all over an HHR Panel SS.
  14. San Diego's where it's at. I was very tempted to tear up my return ticket when I visited there a couple of years ago.
  15. Not that I enjoy quoting myself, but I never felt more strongly about this statement than yesterday when hearing "Rockstar" by Nickelback on the way home. What an awful, awful song.
  16. I've heard a couple of theories as to why Mike's no longer in the band: - Eddie's wanted Mike out since the early 80s, because he was dissatisfied with Mike's bass playing and his contributions to the songwriting - Eddie and Alex both are really pissed at Mike for not calling of showing up when their father died. - Eddie just wanted his son in the band to pass the legacy on to him The whole thing with Sammy and Mike touring together is probably just a convenient excuse to get him out once and for all. I still think he should be in the band, but at this point he's better off. He's doing gigs that he enjoys with a close friend. We'll never know what happened, just like we'll never know what happened in 96 when Sammy and Dave both quit/were fired, and in 2004 after Sammy left again.
  17. This is probably quite a stetch, but is it possible that, based on this information, that Rav4 and Yaris sales do not count when it comes to discussing Toyota Motor Company's sales, since they are not made by that company?
  18. Wonderful, so now another station succumbs to commercials Squizz, Big Tracks, The Boneyard, The Message, Bluesville, and Highway 16 FTW. I do wish they'd put The Torch back as a normal station instead of an online only station.
  19. :gay: Why does Pontiac need this car? Why does GM need Toyota's help to make it when it has an equal or better platform in Delta, along with Ecotec 4cyls that are equal or better to Toyota's? It's an eyesore, inside, outside, and under the hood.
  20. I meant the show, not the C&G member.
  21. GM's not yet in a position to help itself grow. First it has to shrink to a point to where it can be profitable. If they're not at that point now, they're close to it. GM will grow itself by earning conquest sales from the imports via top-notch product from all of its arms. Buick and Pontiac's sales numbers have been artifically high for years due to GM dumping them on Avis and Alamo lots. I don't have exact sales numbers in front of me, but as an example, if you took away all the GP's fleet sales, actual sales numbers would be a lot closer to the number of G8s that GM expects to sell. If Buick, Pontiac, and GMC sales combined simulate a moderate to good-performing full line brand, there's no need to kill any of them.
  22. Now I understand why server response was really slow a few minutes ago
  23. You're making a big, and dangerous, assumption: that GM can force people into an Impala because there isn't a G8 or Park Avenue available for them to buy. The same assumption was made when GM killed Olds. We all know how that turned out, right? The fact is, that no matter what you do, some people will just never buy a Chevy. In the GM hierarchy Chevy has always been the volume, mainstream division. Anyone looking for "more" from an image standpoint (yet can't afford a Caddy) won't give an Impala a second glance. And I'm saying all this as a Chevy die-hard. This is where Buick and Pontiac come in.
