Vince as been known to be a fraud for at least the ten or so years that I've been using the Internet to find out information about new cars. I'd seriously take anything he says with a grain of salt. Don't waste any more of your brain power.

No, it's not possible. It's a certainty. Opel Insignia = Saturn Aura Chinese LaCrosse/Invicta = US LaCrosse/Invicta That's just how the story goes.

+2. I just don't get all the hoopla over Japanese engines. The gap is negligible at this point. I've driven or ridden in cars with Honda, Toyota, and Nissan 4cyls, and none of them are so much better than my car that I'd consider jumping ship. In fact, the Toyota and Nissan sounded and felt like crap, and the Honda felt "close" to mine. Just how quiet the Cobalt is does depend on the tires. My car with the Michelins is quieter from a road-noise standpoint than the base model with the Continentals.

UPDATE: I called the other day and the person on the phone told me I got all GM parts. I needed the wheel after all. The damage came to $3,3xx, of which I have to lay out my $500 deductible while GEICO goes after her insurance company. I stopped by the body shop today after hours while on my bike, and flagged a guy working OT on another car. He said they're waiting on the wheel and it's all back together otherwise. He would have showed me it but it was locked in the bay and he didn't have the key. They expect it to be ready by mid-week.

Sorry to hear, Camino. There's too much of this sh*t going around.

GM/Opel flagship will recognize traffic signs
z28luvr01 replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
Great. Something else to enable stupid people to operate a car (notice I didn't say "drive") while being oblivious to their surroundings until they inevitably crash into someone who actually was paying attention. -
All right, so it appears someone at GM is fastening a white flag to a long wooden pole. So Hummer's gone, probably to Tata, and another brand is going to the slaughter. My thoughts, for what they're worth: Buick: Killing Buick in the US would effectively kill it in China as well - any prestige Buick has as an "import" would go down the toilet if it doesn't exist in its home market. Plus, the Buick China and Buick NA lineups will be very similar. Pontiac: Obviously I don't want to see it go, but if "get your G8 while you can" turns out to be true and Pontiac's long-term future consists solely of rebadged Chevies, just pull the plug and get it over with. IMO, 'tis better to be shot than to be starved to death. Saturn: GM's most expensive mistake that could turn out to be its undoing. Still, killing Saturn as it stands now would be a bad move, as the dealership network would revolt. If someone from B-P-G dies and GM offers incentives for Saturn dealers to join the channel, I could see that as an avenue for Saturn's eventual death. Saab: I could see Saab pull out of the US market, but I think they will remain in the GM fold so that GM can keep their expertise in developing small high power turbocharged engines. GMC: On one hand, it's a truck-only brand so it's got a huge bullseye on its head. On the other hand, every GMC sold is almost pure profit thanks to minimal investment over its Chevy counterparts.

What's the deal with the Opel badge on the steering wheel?

I'm proud of you for deciding to go get your GED. Do what you have to do to get that done. You have amazing talent, but unfortunately in this world you on't go anywhere unless you have a piece of paper that says you've spent a lot of your time and money on getting an education. Your GED is an important first step. As far as getting in shape, I can lend a few pointers. You sound like you want to improve the appearance of your chest. Exercising will help to a point, but you'll hinder your progress if you don't change your diet as well. I could write paragraphs on this, but basically you have to eat the right types and quantities of food to support the amount of exercise you do during the day. That includes carbs, proteins, simple sugars, and even essential fats. Here's a tip to start out with: cut out the obvious bad stuff (fast food, candy, cake, soft drinks, etc) and if necessary replace some of it with healthier food like fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Then practice portion control. Keep this in mind: your brain sends the "I'm full" sensation about a half hour or so after you're actually full. So eat ONE serving, and wait a while before deciding if you need another. On days you exercise, you'll need more food, and on days you don't you'll need less. Your body will only store as fat what it does not burn. As you put this into practice, you will gravitate towards your ideal weight and you'll see more definition where you want it. As far as specific exercises for the area you mentioned, you could try rowing or kayaking to work the areas you mentioned. In general, I would say pick an exercise that gives you enjoyment so that it won't feel like exercise.

Thanks fellas. I just got in after dropping her off at the shop. The GEICO adjuster told me I need a fender, a door, and possibly a wheel and the plastic wheelhouse, and a "repair" on the quarter panel and both bumpers. The door will definitely be a GM door, and the fender will either be GM or CAPA certified. They told me it should be ready for Saturday, though I told them to take their time because I want it done right and will inspect it before I take it back. I've got a '07 Ford Focus in the meantime - not a bad little car aside from the airbag light being on. Paulie: This happened on Middle Country Road in Selden, at the Home Depot Shopping Center. PurdueGuy: Yes, it's a Cobalt coupe.

No caffeine for me, at all, ever. In fact, until this past Saturday when I had a Gatorade, I can't remember the last time I drank something other than water. Just the slightest bit of caffeine will keep me up for half the night, no matter what time of day I ingest it. I'd imagine an energy drink will keep me up for a coule of days straight. Plus, I'd rather burn my energy at a fairly steady rate while I ride, and I can't do that if I'm on caffeine.

Me: Going straight at 40+mph having just made a left to right lane change Her: Pulling out of a Home Depot parking lot The results: We're both fine (physically). Rather than go through her insurance company and have them nickel and dime me when I'm not at fault, I'm just going through mine and will let them bill hers. I have an appt. with a GEICO express shop tomorrow at 7AM, and they'll have a rental there.

GM is already leveraging its global resources pretty well, I think. It could (and will) be better, but even right now it's at the point where trying to spin off one section of GM would probhably kill that section and seriously wound the rest. It's ironic that you say that. Up until a couple of years ago GME was a HUGE sinkhole for GM, and I'm sure there were more than a few that wouldn't have minded unloading GME back then. But now it's a bright spot for GM global. Props do go to CPF for turning the ship around so quickly for GME by creating a strategy that works for the European market. Rather than be cut out of GM global, GMNA needs a similar approach that must be adhered to, naysayers be damned and then fired. Don't misunderstand me and think I want the entire GME lineup over here. What I do want is a strategy for GMNA's brand structure that works for the individual brands, for GMNA, and for NA consumers.

Camaro News: Chevrolet Camaro to be sold in Europe, U.K.
z28luvr01 replied to Blake Noble's topic in Chevrolet
I guess Zeta's not so unfit for Europe after all. Sorry, I had to say it The F Body Camaro was advertised under the Chevrolet brand in Europe. I don't see what the problem is. -
I have mixed feelings. Pluses: One of the best proportioned FWD cars, ever. Love the ground-hugging stance, even on what is most certainly a non-SS (judging by what look to be 16" wheels) The front is definitely more dynamic than the current car. The interior - Minuses: The side sculpting and greenhouse is so generic it could be from any Asian or European car I would have liked to see the round taillights adorn the rear of the sedan, but I guess sacrifices have to be made when you're trying to sell the same car everywhere. Overall I'm getting the impression that this is going to be a great compact car for GM that could very well find its way into the top two or three compacts on the market. Unfortunately, it seems like the "personality" that I see in the current Cobalt has been engineered out in an attempt to make it universally acceptable across the globe. I would really like to see the coupe version, as I'd expect it to continue the tradition of being the more attractive of the two. Hopefully they've got a 5dr (HHR replacement) and maybe even a 3dr planned as well.

You're starting to worry me. People that just view their car as transport pods usually end up brining home a Camry. Before you do anything rash, stare at ths page for a few minutes.

Assimilation, schmassimilation. If all of GM operated like Holden we wouldn't be in this mess. Holden Again Revisits the Torana

FWIW, Reuss already confirmed a hybrid Commodore for '10. The hardware is ready to go.

My personal fave Chevelle (after the '70, of course) is the 66-67 model: Camino, is this the blue you're talking about? If so, then

The B Body was scheduled for an update around 1997-ish, part of which included being certified to use the LS1. GM couldn't build enough Caprices once the Impala came out , and AFAIK the Roadmaster, Fleetwood, and Custom Cruiser didn't do too badly either. GM's decison to kill the B body had less to do with poor sales than it did reallocating resources towards getting a piece of the booming SUV market. The death of the F body is proof that all trims of a given model line need to be done right, not just the V8 versions. The 3.4L and 3.8L F bodies were slow, lumbering, and wheezy. Those who didn't want to bother with the insurance premiums assocated with a V8 car left the Camaro for other makes. The car also wasn't meant for all body types - for example, at 5'4" I can't find a single comfortable position in a 4th gen F body. If I could, I'd probably own a navy blue metallic Z28 right about now.
