  1. Hah - I knew exactly where you were going with the title when I saw it. Congratulations! Can't wait to see the pics.
  2. Croc, I'd love to know where that house is with the warped/melted vinyl. I've never seen anything like that before. I wouldn't dare try vinyl in the southwest, but it's pretty commonplace here in NY and the northeast/mid Atlantic. It does hold up fairly well, except in the cold where it can get brittle and crack if something hits it just right, and if that does happen the repair is very simple.
  3. Wow, that really sucks. Was it a real POS, or just high mileage? I'll keep my eyes open still.
  4. Siding materials come in a variety of textures/styles. You can get simulated shakes, stones, or bricks in addition to the traditional clapboard styles. You don't have to paint any of these, but I beliece they're more than traditional vinyl siding. Would you be doing the install yourself, or would you contract out?
  5. It's a 1 ton It does look great from the pics. The gloss black would show up every imperfection even in a poor quality photo. From what I can see it looks clean and straight. I wouldn't expect anything less from anyone in the Hamptons. They take care of their stuff, or pay to have someone take care of it for them.
  6. I also distinctly remember my Technical Writing professor going on a ten minute dissertation on how expressions like "irregardless" and "free gift" were terrible misuses of the English language.
  7. Just sit tight and keep the faith. PCS has hinted that Zeta is not all that dead, and regardless of your personal feelings for him, he has a history of being right. I think we'll see the Holden Zetas here in some form, but probably not immediately. Complicating the naming issue is that Oshawa owns the rights to the Impala name - any car called Impala must be made there. here are two factoids for you - the W-body Impala is supposed to die in 2012, and the Holden Zetas are scheduled for a redo in 2013, either on the current North American version of Zeta (Camaro), or a lighter successor to Zeta. Not sure yet, rumors are conflicting. Anyway, I could see Oshawa being earmarked for production of the Holden Zetas (including a Commodore-based Impala), once this happens. Until then, we're likely to get low-volume imports from Australia like the Caprice PPV, or maybe a limited run of Utes or Park Avenues. As for the gas price issue, look up the MPG figures for the V6 Malibu and the V6 G8 - they are virtually identical despite the Zeta being heavier. There are technologies in the GM parts bin to help the Zetas become more efficient right now, and those now in charge are well aware of that. When gas prices shot up in Australia, Reuss himself stated that Holden was working on diesel and hybrid Commodores to increase their gas mileage. Calm down, let GM get its ducks in a row, and se what happens. A lot of us might end up very happy.
  8. No dually? Aww....
  9. It's from East Hampton, so it might think it's too good to be owned by you
  10. I can't find the article, but Reuss has gone on record as saying that Zeta will go on a diet in its next iteration, most likely in time for the Commodore redo in '13. Not sure if this applies to the XTS, but know that the weight issues will be addressed. I do agree with you that this car needs to be RWD, if only for prestige reasons. If GM can't resist the urge to make a large FWD car, Buick is a more natural home.
  11. From my company's online classifieds: I might actually know this person through a friend...
  12. That is a beautidul truck. That color reminds me of a slightly brighter green, called Fairway Green, that GM used on the Corvette from 97 to around 99. It wasn't very popular, but it was a very nice color.
  13. clicky Most defintitely worth the effort.
  14. Another Ford: http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/1496515309.html Manorville is just a few miles northeast of where the Camino parts car was.
  15. Well, this HOA seems pretty OK and not too anal. The owners tell me they're on top of things as far as maintaining what they're supposed to maintain. Since it's a freestanding unit I have more things that are my responsiblity but more leeway in what I can and can't do. I'd have seriously considered nixing the deal if I couldn't wash my car. It's a fair compromise between an apartment and a house I own myself. A lot of the burdens of homeownership are someone else's problem, which frees a lot of my time, and yet I'm building equity. As for the Corvette - it's on the market. I haven't done much of anything because it's been one thing after another for the past couple of years. I can't fit it where I'm going, and I need the money for furntiture, etc. I have an interested buyer, so hopefully this pans out. Maybe once things stabilize I'll be able to take on another toy.
  16. Thankfully, it's not an issue anymore. I've since soured on that condo - got a bad vibe after going back a second time and noticing the floors in the living room were pretty badly buckled. I'm now in negotiations to purchase a freestanding townhouse in the same development. I have two outdoor faucets, and the HOA actually seems pretty reasonable and has no rules against car washing.
  17. Chase sucks big time. They totally F-ed up the WaMu branches they took over. Can't hate on them too much, though. Their incompetence worked out to my benefit this week.
  18. I didn't see this coming, though with the Saab and Opel things not going the way he wanted, I suppose I should have. If there is a silver lining, from a product perspective, it's this: "I am not a fan of rebadging." Remember that quote, who said it, and what it pertained to? Well, that roadblock is gone now
  19. Q: What do you call 20,000 lawyers buried at the bottom of the ocean? A: A good start Sorry, Camino. Honestly, I don't understand why there was a need to involve a lawyer in a car sale at all.
  20. Well, the whole thing came off as childish and unrepresentative of the type of discussions that we're capable of here. I for one let it go because it didn't technically break any rules, though in retrospect I probably should have closed it. It's bad enough to see plans for a revitalized RWD-only Pontiac go up in smoke in a matter of a couple of months. it's another thing to have groups of people $h! on the brand when it needed support the most. Instead of voicing outrage over GM's poor planning regarding Pontiac, you sat back and poked fun at every crappy Pontiac ever made. As far as compating Pontac to Olds and Saturn, both Saturn and Olds had the luxury of dying with some fine vehicles benefitting from billions of dollars of investment, while Pontiac had to make do with the scraps noone else wanted. That was hard enough to take. The excitement thread (and every subsequent Pontiac thread) just rubs salt in the wound.
  21. No, it's the fact that it's damn near impossible to have a legitimate discussion about Pontiac ever since then. Every thread that mentions Pontiac turns into a bitch-fest who think Pontiac is irrelevant and those who know otherwise.
  22. The inside looks pretty stock and not beat to hell, a good thing IMO. Based on the roof shot, the paint appears to be in pretty good shape - no fading or breaking down clear. It has one of the upper-end Delco head units (the top one had an EQ, this one doesn't), so Im guessing this is a pretty well equipped Trans Am, though not fully loaded. It's very possible it could have TPI.
  23. Allow me to fast forward through the same ol' crap that pollutes every Pontiac thread on C&G: Pontiac sucks. Only Avis cares that they're gone. G3 = EXCITEMENT!!!!! Stop that. I like Pontiac. You're such an ass. 4cyl G6 = EXCITEMENT!!!!! But Pontiac made more than just FWD Chevy rebadges You're living in the past. You realy don't know what you're talking about Your mom. ... Now that that's all out of the way, I hope the remainder of the thread consists of constructive discussion about the topic. I'm having a hard time figuring out what this group is intending to do. It sounds like they're trying to create a nationalized Pontiac, separate from GM that will be owned by the US government. If that's the case, good luck to them, because they're going to need it. Too many hurdles to get that to happen, not the least of which being that GM has repeatedly said that Pontiac is not for sale. Nonetheless, I like hearing of these grassroots efforts to try to save the Pontiac name. Very telling if you ask me.
