I hated the front fascia on that Prelude, but they were a blast to ride in.

I Can't Believe Chevy is Ditching the Maxx
z28luvr01 replied to buyacargetacheck's topic in Chevrolet
I think AH-HA said so on the old boards. I think it's gone when the Malibu gets redone, to be replaced in spirit by a crossover of some sort. -
Both are great cars. You can't go wrong with either. The Malibu that I rented for a day was a pretty solid if unexciting ride. The Impala is a real looker in person. If you're going for the 3LT Impala with the 3.9L, you might as well step up to the base SS and get way more power for the same mileage. B) I remember talk of a more comprehensive do-over on the schnoz on the 'Bu for 2007, but I'm not sure where that stands now.

DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors (NYSE:GM - news) said on Friday that it was recalling nearly 106,000 sport utility vehicles in the United States and Canada to fix a rear door latch that may not close properly due to corrosion. Alan Adler, a spokesman for the world's largest automaker, said the 105,893 vehicles affected by the potential safety defect included Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL SUVs from the 2002-2003 model years. He said one alleged injury had been caused by the faulty door latch. A small number of 2003 model Isuzu Ascender SUVs are also affected, Adler said. GM builds the Ascender for Isuzu Motors Ltd. (7202.T). A total of about 98,000 of the recalled vehicles were registered or sold in Northeast and Midwest U.S. states, where corrosion can occur due to winter road salt. An estimated 7,893 vehicles sold in eastern Canada are also affected, Adler said.

And kids, remember, don't forget to bring a towel. You wanna get high?

The Cobalt is within a couple of inches of the TSX in nearly every dimension. It's biggest shortcoming is in the area of shoulder/hip room. The TSX is midsized for a European car, but for the US it's a pretty big compact.

Aaaanyway.....Here's my list. I'm trying to get this out on my lunch break, so if I forget to mention anyone specifically don't be offended. Walt: How could anyone not want to visit the man that created this place? Plus, he's got a silver Z28 convertible, a Studie, a kickasss garage, and a bar in the basement. Josh: Lutz likes him, women love him. I wouldn't mind having those attributes ocnblu: extremely funny guy with a good heart. We could talk body shop stuff for hours. AAS: I'd go see him just to get the opportunity to go to San Diego again, but he's another great guy with a Camaro. It would be hard to choose between a ride in that Camaro or a ride in his girlfriend's father's boat. Chief: We're still on for the 2006 C&G Christmas Party at your new house, right? j/k :P I'd love to see his collection of cars and bikes. Plus, he's a pretty good guy too. FOG, mustang84, razoredge: Pick a concert, and let's go NOS2006: I need to see for myself how much his actual personality differs from his internet personality. I'm guessing "not much". Nick: a hopeless romantic like myself. We'll get ours someday and it'll be worth the wait blackviper8891: This should probably happen soon, so I can stop him from buying a Civic :D Camino: He hasn't been here since his PC died, but I haven't forgotten him. ChrisPauwels: I would love to see all the things he's designed. He's a star in the making. Plus, he's got a great personality and his g/f's a sweetheart. Satty: A fellow baseball fan....maybe next year around this time we'll have the Cubs ending their World Series drought. Plus, the quitesential wiseass...gotta love that. Flybrian: It's hard to say which is more beautiful, his car or his girlfriend. Plus, we share some interests in aviation and history. If I could only get him and Satty in the same room.... staceface: the First Lady of C&G. A role model for all women. Paolino, aaaantione: fellow LIers....we're no more than an hour from each other. After seeing Paulie's Century, I'd do whatever I can to get him on "Overhaulin'" or "Pimp My Ride" budman3: He's not on much anymore, but I'd still like to meet him. We both can commiserate on the faulure of our favorite baseball teams this year. JamesB: He forgets more than I'll ever know. A very interesting guy. Plus, he lives in the land of Holdens :D AH-HA, Evok, thegriffon: I'd want to get all three seriously drunk so that they'd spill the beans on GM's future products. j/k...They actually seem like pretty nice guys and I'll bet a conversation with them would be interesting whether or not we actually talk about GM. trinacriabob: another guy who isn't here much, but he's been pretty well traveled. Female graduate students flirt with him, and I want to be there when he turns them down. Sixty8: a fellow Camaro fan. His new CDV is pretty sweet, too. Croc: Probably the polar opposite of me in terms of likes and dislikes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We could probably learn a few things from each other. Dsuupr, Turbojett, the_yellow_dart: I'd love to meet fellow Cobalt owners. In Dsuupr's case, I'll bring $500 to buy a Coprice and we can take turns trying to kill it.

Pontiac already has two rebadged Chevrolets in its lineup...the Torrent and the SV6. Thinking long-term, selling the Pursuit/G4 in the US would hurt Pontiac's image a lot more than help it. The GTO is scheduled to stop production in a year or so. We've been told the Solstice is a one-model-cycle-only car. No good news is forthcoming about any RWD Pontiacs...everything is centering around Camaro, "Bel Air", and Velite. That would eventually leave the G6 as the only distinct Pontiac. Bad news. A disinctly styled Delta would be more than fine. A hot TSX-killing 5dr hatch or traditional wagon would fill a hole in the B-P-G lineup and differentiate it more from the other Delta cars.

The Beretta actually gained quite a following in its own right. Chevy marketed the hell out of it and gave it a boatload of performance/appearance packages. That was one GM car from the early 90s that I was sad to see go.

Jacko... but not the one from the Jackson 5

I'll have mine carved out tomorrow night. I usually design good faces, but it'll be hard to top that one. -
Shoot, my dad makes those in his sleep. All you need is the right diamteter tubing and a flange tool.

*wink* *wink* Therein lies the purpose of the Torana concept: to preview the next gen Commodore design without us even knowing it.

Both of them just like to hear themselves talk, especially McCarver. And both of them can't even pretend to want to call the game objectively; it's like having two random fans call the game.

You're talking about a shoe rack, so there isn't going to be a heck of a lot of additional strength needed out of it beyond what you already have. Having three crossmembers holding two vertical rails up should inherently be pretty strong for the job. To make it near bulletproof without using any more wood, I'd do this: Move the nine-inch sections of wood that hold the shelves together out so that they stick out past the shelves about 1/2 the thickness of the vertical pieces. Then, notch the vertical pieces the same thickness, so that the protruding lip on the shelf fits into it snugly. Finally, use six screws on each side to hold each shelf in: one for each slat on the shelf, and three below on the 9" section. If you want, stick some carpenter's glue on the shelves for additional strength. This should seriously make a decent substitute for a jack-stand B)

The 97-03 Grand Prix showed that Pontiac could use cladding tastefully. I really thought they were going in the right direction, until they came out with the '99 Grand Am. I agree mostly with ocnblu and Croc on the G6. The car looks pretty taught and athletic on its own, and doesn't really need any help. It's a new dashboard away from being a fantastic car.

Those are the 18" wheels for the SS currently available through GM Accessories.

They went through all the trouble of designing a separate rear fascia for the Pursuit/G4. Ya think they could have done the same for the front, so the grille doesn't look so tacked on? Seriously, keep it out of the US...noone will fall for it. Either design a separate Delta (traditional 5dr/wagon) or keep the Solstice as the entry level Pontiac.

The closest I've ever come was being 20 feet from Steven Tyler at an Aerosmith concert. Famous people don't normally come by my neck of the woods. AAS, when you have a free moment you may want to take a short trip to Coronado...I remember the tour guide saying that quite a few celebrities have homes there.

Dealer is probably the way to go. GM tends to make parts for a car for 10 years. Since your car stopped producton in 1996, it's very possible that they'll be able to get the weatherstripping. It'll be more expensive than a 3rd party outfit, but worth it if you're planning on keeping the car for a few years.

Wild guess: it's a gussied up 2007 Tahoe.

I despise the use of yellow vinyl on the headlights and windshield, but the car is a knockout.

Agreed on both points, especially the one about the VQ. It's way to video-gamish, not to mention fake, for my tastes. The more muted note from an earlier Maxima was so much sweeter. For exhaust sounds, you can't go wrong with any LSx engine. In stock config, the engine so effortlessly produces a sound that's music to my ears. It's a sharp contrast to the 4.6 and 5.0 Mustangs, which all sound "forced" to me. The new HEMI isn't too bad either. I also have a special place in my heart for the classic "blum-blum-blum-blum" sound of a vintage small block Chevy.
