  1. Still think it's hot...Jet Blue Metallic w/Oxygen Silver sideblade for me. The V10 sounds great, too.
  2. Oops, sorry...misread. That brings the KBB value up to ~$23,400 and the used one up to ~$22,700
  3. It may not be optioned correctly, but I put a 2005 Deville sedan into KBB for 47K mi, and it says one in excellent condition should fetch about $19,525. A quick search on cars.com shows 2 2005 Devilles with ~47K mi at ~$22,000.
  4. Happy Birthday quad-A...Hope it was to your liking!
  5. A red VW Golf GT 5-door with Michigan manufacturer's plates on the Beltway this morning. Not sure what it was doing there. Also: a white Aura XE, an Impala LS (last body style) w/Ontario plates, and a 900 Silverado base crew cab.
  6. Actually, they did impress me with the LX cars and the RT vans, the latter of which appear to be class-leading. But all of the products released inbetween those 2 haven't been really up to par (the Sebring comes to mind here). I think the problem with the Compass is that it's like Jeep's Aztek. It's owners love it, but the general public won't touch it (myself included).
  7. It got me. Again. Only this time, it involved my mom’s Venture. We were taking one of the Company’s cargo vans up to the local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac/GMC/Isuzu/Mitsubishi dealer to get a recall on the power steering pump taken care of. So, after dropping off the Express van, my mom, dad, little cousin who’s now living with us (a whole different story on its own), and I pile into our Venture to head home. I turn the key and it sort of sputters. The engine doesn’t turn over. I figured maybe I didn’t turn the key hard enough, so I try again. Same thing...the engine sputters, but nothing. The radio comes on, but the time gets reset to 12:00 each time. It’s then I realize that my mom’s been complaining about it seeming strange when she started it up a few days ago. I told her this morning after it was brought to my attention that the 3.4L V6 is known for the intake manifold gasket failing around 60-65K mi, and the van’s at or above the 60K mi mark. She says it’s not just the engine, but the power sliding doors won’t work sometimes, and the thing just seems wheezier. I tell her I don't know what the problem could be, and we could worry about it when dad gets home (I was running late to catch the bus). So back to sitting in it at the dealer. I try to open the power doors from the switch console, but they don’t open. My dad was going crazy, he thought I was doing something wrong. So, we manually open the doors and walk back into the service department and tell the lady at the desk that we need to make another appointment. After talking to the lady at the desk for a minute, she arranges for a service guy to go see if giving it a jump start would help. About 15 minutes later, the lady manages to procure a service guy and he proceeds to go wire the Venture up. My mom and I watch, and the van starts up. My mom says that it might have just been the battery, but I told her that if the battery was dead, the headlights, and radio wouldn’t have turned on, and the gauges wouldn’t have read anything. For good measure, we left the Venture there to see if something other than the battery was sour. By now, it’s about 5:45 (we got there at about 4:15). So we wait for about another half-hour for the dealer to arrange for a courtesy ride to the Enterprise down US-1. So as we pull into the Enterprise lot (it’s located in the middle of a shopping center, so it’s a bit difficult to tell which cars are the rentals and which aren’t), I’m scanning for another minivan to rent, or maybe a Malibu or G6. No such luck. I saw a Corolla, a Sentra Special Edition, a new Accent, a Dakota crew cab, and a Stratus with Sebring rims. I’m worried we’ll get stuck with the Corolla, since dad wanted the cheapest rental there. So when we get inside and are going over the choices at hand, a laser blue Mazda6 pulls up. The guy behind the counter says “oh, there's that one as well.” I tell my parents to go with the Mazda, since it’s bigger than the Corolla and not much more expensive. Plus, we had a good experience with the previous 6 while the Sonoma was in the shop. So, after about 10 minutes of paperwork, we pull out of the parking lot in the 6. The poor guy behind us was hoping for the 6. As we were walking out the door, I heard the guy behind the counter say to the guy behind us “sorry sir, those folks just took the Mazda. How about that silver Corolla right there?” I felt bad for him...nothing good left to choose from. I’m worried about the Venture...it’s never done anything like this before to us. I just hope it’s not a sign of things to come. But, at the same time, I’m happy to have another Mazda6 to examine. This one’s got the 3.0L V6 and the 6 speed auto (both very nice, BTW). So, I guess I’ll have another review write up soon. Thanks for listening to me go on.
  8. x2, hope it was a good one!
  9. Politics aren't my favorite pass-time, but 2008 should be interesting. I just hope they get better ads on tv.
  10. The following is my definition of a loser: -47 years old -drug addict -lived in the same house all his life, never had to pay for a utility bill, make a mortgage payment, or worry about property tax -can't make or keep promises -buys things on already maxed-out credit cards to "impress" others -never had to do anything difficult all his life -always has had daddy there to bail him out -has a child, but the child's been dumped on his brother's family -he's married, but his ass-ugly wife is not living with him -although 47 years old, has the temperament, mental development, social skills, and intelligence of an embryo -can't keep a steady job; was repeatedly fired from the family business -been to rehab as many times as I've been to the dentist -doesn't have a pot to piss in, despite the fact that he doesn't have any house-related expenses -largest purchase of his life was an Express conversion van -making your whole family suffer because you can't get your act together It's a shame that it's basically the biography of my dad's younger brother. You most likely aren't a loser if you don't fit my criteria. Besides...being single isn't usually a choice, and old cars are cool.
  11. Wow BV...sorry to hear that happened to her, but I'm glad to hear everyone involved's ok.
  12. I love cars...but I could never justify spending that kind of money on one. Come to think of it, I couldn't spend that kind of money on any single thing. Spent wisely, $5 million could sustain you for a lifetime.
  13. I can't say that I'm sad, but the Commander was beginning to grow on me a little.
  14. Ouch...sorry to hear that, Fly.
  15. Glad to hear you got a car, sorry to hear what happened to it!
  16. Yeah, Niagara Falls is great. A little advice, though--don't take a train up there. My parents thought it would be fun to take Amtrak up to NYC for the night, then another Amtrak up to Buffalo. It took 4 hours to get from Grand Central to Albany. And on top of that, we had a 2 hour layover there while like 2 people got on our train. Factor in another 3 hours to go from Albany to Buffalo...ugh. We traded our return train tickets in for a rental Mercury Sable. The Mounties are very thorough at examining you and your stuff, too. But the first full day up there, I decided that Ontario was way cooler than DC could ever hope to be. Edit: The Falls are a sight to behold when they're illuminated.
  17. Hmm...seeing a tailfin era car exhumed sounds cool. No means to get there, though, unless Sixty8 feels like swinging by Laurel after he's done in Brookville...the Sonoma's still approved by Rusty Jones, right?
  18. That's a lot of Tundras and Sequoias. Sounds like Dodge's ball joint problems from a while ago.
