It sucks quite a bit when the car you have in storage has awesome heat and the daily driver has pathetic heat. I think the thermostat is stuck open but its too damn cold to tackle that job.

I can't recall the last time I've seen so much snow on the ground! We got hit with another 6 inches of snow this morning, and a big Nor'easter is taking aim at us for Wednesday. But between now and then we're supposed to be getting the coldest weather we've seen in years here. Sunday highs will only make it to 16 and lows will be -16 or colder! It's a frozen, if pretty wasteland out there. Now I know what it's like for FapTurbo in July. Got prepared for this and bought some Iso-Heet for the cars on active duty and Marine Sta-bil (red stuff is junk) for the hibernating Intrepid. So how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

2012 Civic Concept
Intrepidation replied to siegen's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
The difference here is that the civic looks much better now, the Corolla looks worse, and Honda added some definition to the sides and gave the greenhouse a similar but more sporty rake. -
That car would look so good with a proper coupe roofline, I hope they make one. This thing would be very pretty but the hump back ruins in.

I will say that out of curiosity I checked the oil adapter and it doesn't fit the gas can. So there went my frankly brilliant plan.

I disagree, but different strokes for different folks. Tell you what, you can have the ColoBlazer and I'll have the Yukon All Terrain. -
Not really jabbing that a you camino, but this whole "HURR GEN Y IS BRAINWASHEDIFIED" and "THIS CAN IS SO DAMN COMPLIMICATED THAT I SPILL GAS ALL OVER MYSELF TRYING TO OPERATE A LEVER F**K YOU GOVERNMENTMAN" thing is a bit ridiculous. As for the the price of the can, I'd spend that kind of money if I used it for my business or whatever. It looks to last more than long enough to pay for itself. I don't have a problem with the plastic ones because 1.) I don't use it much except to fill the lawnmower or snow blower 2.) I don't mind the spout because for me it makes less of a mess (we have an older style one that I find is easier to get spillage). Myself and others have offered constructive solutions and lower priced gas cans, so really besides this turning into a government conspiracy plot I don't see why we need to ignite more flames.
-
Or, alternatively, that we're not dumbfounded by the ultra complex operating mechanism of the plastic gas cans. If it was such a huge problem for me and I used the thing every day then I would buy the metal can. Of course I wouldn't have anything to complain about then, what a tragedy.

The difference between the Malibu and the old Passat/CC interior is the materials, the quality, and the attention to detail. In addition to high quality and build quality, it has lots of wonderful details from the contrasting stitching and piping, even on the floor mats, to the designs of ordinary controls such as for the sunroof.

If gas tanks are so important to you and the work you do I don't see why you wouldn't invest in a high quality one that meets all your criteria.

2012 Civic Concept
Intrepidation replied to siegen's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
So long as the production cars look like the concepts (which the undoubtedly will), the Civic sedan and Focus sedan are my two favorites in the class. -
Anyway if you use gas cans so much why not just invest in the good one and be done with it? It's everything you want, and its not made in China. Otherwise to me you're just complaining for the sake of complaining, when there are alternatives.
-
Snooping as usual, I see.
-
Seriously? It's not rocket science.
-
Well it has everything you want: it's made of metal, it doesn't have a CARB spout, it's even Made in USA. I mean sure there might be a cheaper Chinese one, but would you really rather buy it? I mean if I were a connoisseur of fuel containment units then clearly this lead-free, hot-dipped 24-gauge, deep-drawn galvanized steel construction with a baked-on high gloss powder coat finish gas can is the only way to go.

I wanted to go for something more interesting than the boring door design every truck has used in history, so I decided to think outside the box. -
here's my thing: The interior looks nice enough, but does it look nicer and more modern than the car it replaces? I don't think so. The new one is so bland. It has no style. The old one, the one still used in the CC and Euro Jetta, has some actual style to it. It's innoffensive and all, but new cars are supposed to be better, and inside at least, I don't think it is. And yes, I know it's $8k cheaper, but the Cruze is even less expensive yet has a more interesting interior design. The exterior looks fine, not particularly original or exciting, but it is very well proportioned, so kudos for that. I'm interested in the upcoming diesel option.

Here's my third, final, and favorite entry: GMC Yukon Z71 All Terrain Z71 normally says Off Road by the badge, but I figure in the spirit of the concept, and since this looks like it could conquer the terrain of another planet, "All Terrain" suits. I chose "Yukon because later 2-door models switched to that name along with their 4-door brethren, and I think that "Yukon" sounds tougher and far less goofy than "Jimmy". The wheelbase and overall length are a bit shorter, but long enough that it doesn't appear stubby. The doors are pretty radical, which I like, and allow more access to the back without requiring a suicide door. Front fascia has been tweaked a bit: slightly smaller grill and larger lower intake and smoked out headlights. -
