A few questions regarding oil VS synthetic oil
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tech Section
Yeah, I was planning on flushing the engine out. We did that to the Prizm since it had early stages of sludge buildup. For now I'm going to add Citgo 5W30 oil, just so it has enough. It really is on teh low side...I'm not sure why since I can't find any leaks...but I've read of the 2.7L going through oil faster than usual. -
That's a pretty nice shade of blue. My only real problem with that body style, besides the interior, is that the rear end looks like a goofy face at night (the two outer lights make the eyes and the license plate area makes the gaping mouth). I can't find a good pic to show my point, but turn your lights on, and look at it directly from behind and you'll see what i mean

A few questions regarding oil VS synthetic oil

Sounds like I will. So since you know a lot about oil, how do I tell what is in there now? -

I'm a I stumbled across this while surfing Google. I just had to share this. A Chinese car enthusiast!. She must be enthused about knockoffs, poor designs, and quality so poor it makes a mid-90's Chrysler product looks bulletproof. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=80571225 :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

A few questions regarding oil VS synthetic oil
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tech Section
SO how should I go about finding out? Can I call the dealer with the VIN number and ask them what oil they used? Maybe asked what it was serviced for too in the past...? Oh..does synthetic smell any different? I could use that as an indicator if they smell different... -
A few questions regarding oil VS synthetic oil
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tech Section
Nah, it doesn't...not even an oil pressure gauge...but then not much does these days. The Shadow actually has an aftermarket one, which I have always liked having. But anyway, I just don't want to go adding oil to the engine if it has synthetic. Hmm...I bought the car at 174k and it says it's due for an oil change at 177k...so I guess it must be natural oil... -
Jan. 2007 Sales: Mitsubishi Motors N.A.

That's sad considering the Corolla sold like triple what the entire line of Mitsubishi sold. -
A few questions regarding oil VS synthetic oil
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tech Section
Well, once the engine has been cleaned and determined if the oil was the result of a leak or just a spill, then I'll probably go for mobil 1. Will mechanics change it to synthetic or is it a do-it-yourself sorta thing? It's probably for the best, since the 2.7L is so notorious for sludge buildup. So does it look any different than regular oil when you check it? -

The Titan looks pretty good in body color...why no photos of its interior? The interior of the Armada and the Pathfinder look very nice, and the Pathfinder looks great on the outside...but the Armada still blows chunks on the outside. -

So is it a better choice overall then? -
Toyota recalling 500,000 + Tundras and Sequoias
Intrepidation replied to andy82471's topic in Toyota
I've never seen a Tundra towing anything come to think of it. -
So I today I decided to check the fluids in all the cars and I noticed the Intrepid needs oil (no surprise from what I've been reading). Anyway, I went out and bought some oil for it, but now I'm wondering what's in there: synthetic or natural oil? How can I tell the difference? It's possible the last owner switched it to synthetic oil to avoid sludge buildup the 2.7L is so notorious for. I'm pretty sure bad things would happen if I pured regular oil in and it had synthetic inside already. Help would be appreciated! (especially so I can get it done tonight). Also, when it comes time to change the oil, and after the engine has been steam cleaned (because oil was found on the engine, but no leak was found, and I have never seen a leak), I was thinking of switching to synthetic...to avoid that horrible sludge problem the 2.7L is so notorious for. Is it a good idea?

"Best month ever"...I'm so tired of hearing that phrase. But oh well, that's how it is.

Wow, only the Town and Country posted gains for the Chrysler brand...Look a the Wrangler though, up 124%

Isn't the roof supposed to be higher than the Nitro's? Also the wheel arches are square not round. Still...they look similar in photos...there's no denying that...
-
That's the A-pillar. You can see the plastic trim (what my thumb is touching) coming off and exposing the metal underneath. The Nitro...it's interior isn't going to win any contest on looks or materials...but I think it's at least functional and fits the macho looks of the exterior. Can we agree on that much?
-
At the New England International Auto Show, they had a blue one on display. It looked better as far as the revised center stack and steering wheel, but the dash had misalinged panels, and the A-pillar was loose. Here, I have some pics I took (but never got around to posting originally). At least the Nitro I sat in was solidly put together...this is inexcusable. Also note that I was only pressingly lightly on that A-pillar.
-
I really have no problem if you don't like the Nitro or the interior. It's not your thing, and that's fine. However to call it a POS just because the interior isn't your cup of tea is different. I noticed you didn't post anything about the cheapo Equinox interior To be fair maybe you did in another thread, I dunno. Anyway, this is about the Liberty not the Nitro.

Some Newish Photos of the Intrepid
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Yeah, I've heard lots of bad things about the 2.7...but so far so good. -
I didn't see the need to point out the obvious. No $h! it's hard plastic. That doesn't make it piss poor cheap. It's no worse inside than the Equinox...I sat in one of those...the panels are pretty badly misaligned. I fforget how much of it was hard plastic but I believe most of it is. The Impala has hard plastic almost everywhere, and yet one here complains about it being cheap.
-
Northstar, you just got hardcore. Also, I've sat inside a Nitro. They are average...and that's just fine. They're certainly not as low grade as most of you seem to think.

As are the headlights and the hood bulge. Anyway, it looks like the reworked the fascia. It's similar but subtly differently from the Commodore's it looks like...which is nice. They gave it a new fascia as opposed to just tacking a grill on the existing one (a la G5)
