Hyundai dubs Buick, Cadillac, Saturn "so-called 'American'"
Intrepidation replied to Flybrian's topic in Hyundai
At the end of the day the profits go to South Korea...it will never be American. -
Interior platstics I can see the gripe about, same with color (although I like the tan ones). Build quality I dunno...but control layout?> I don't buy it. Controls are logically places and easy to reach. If there's one thing Chrysler interiors are good at besides versatility it's ergonomics.

Please don't tell me there's a 5th one coming? Who is gonna get it? Pontiac? Saab? Caddy?
-
Question: DO you have your own place yet? If not how the hell can you afford a car at that price?
-
See now that I actually liked...if it were in this red it would look pretty good.

Weren't they originally not going to get one at all?

FRANKFURT: 2008 Mazda6
Intrepidation replied to Flybrian's topic in International Motor Show - Germany
Relatively speaking no it isn't...it fits in fine with the class but the 6 is small for the segment. Once more, the Fusion would not exist without the Mazda6 platform, we'd be stuck with the old Taurus for another 5 years. -
They shouldn't have 4 of these...one of them should be taken out of the lineup to avoid overlap. Sadly I think the Outlook is the one to go since it's a slow seller anyway. It makes sense for Chevy to get one since it's the volume brand...but 3 of the 4 crossovers look rather similar.

I like it, especially the new rear quarter window...but the front end still looks a lot like teh Outlook...are those the same headlights? Hopefully the real thing will be more differenciated.

FRANKFURT: 2008 Mazda6
Intrepidation replied to Flybrian's topic in International Motor Show - Germany
The Fusion relies on the 6 for its underpinnings, the current /malibu and G6 are fleet whores, and the 6 didn't set the sales charts on fire because it wasn't "big enough" for our fat asses -
Oops, it is a `97. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...&cardist=22 There's also some nice GC's for around 5 grand http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...&cardist=23 Of course they probably aren't in your area but you know

t3h 0\/3R|-|4|\|G3$!!11! Seriously though, awesome car...I can't believe how clean it is! Take good care of her!
-
The wheels are the one thing i don't care for. AWD < FWD because at with that kind of power you will get torque steer with FWD. An advanced AWD system enhances handling. If you want FWD just don't get the XWD models I don't see how exhaust pipes that are shaped to the contours of the car, a small spoiler and the subtle rocker panels qualify it as rice or a "glorified piece of $h!"

Of course their are no Asians, they can do no wrong. :AH-HA_wink: The fact the DeLorean is on there is almost are retarded as the model T and Explorer...it's so bad and yet they plan to start making them again because of demand? Riiiight....
-
I don't recalled those concerns, and I don't see any shortcomings of the car. Every aspect was designed with careful attention to detail (they even bragged about it...notice how there's no bragging about that with the Malibu). I personally think 100% effort was put into the CTS and the payoffs have been great reviews and hopefully increased sales. Why can't GM put the kind of effort into teh CTS they put into every car? Granted, I don't expect the Malibu to be lined entirely of leather but you know what I mean. Why can't Ford and Chrysler put that much effort into their cars as was done with the CTS as well?

She's probably been doing some riding of a different form

Give it a whole new interior, reskin the exterior, give all models the SS's suspension tuning and there you go. Also replace the Colorado with a pickup based on it and the platform will be good for quite some time.

Let's put it this way, I found like 6 Grand Cherokees for under 6k and the Cherokees are even less. I see a `95 Sport with 138k for 3,870. I haven't checked but you can go to auto.consumerguide.com for reliability info...it's very useful.
-
I would easily buy this over a 335i...it looks far better, controls are far easier to use, it's full of character and the interior, while not made of the best materials, is a hell of a lot better looking.

I cold change it to G6 GXP if you prefer. You obviously missed the point of that comment (shockingly) but it's too small to be worth arguing about. If you can see the obvious faults then you have sight issues, and if you can't see them even after I pointed them out then I don't know what to tell you. I don't know how many times this needs to be said, but it probably falls on deaf ears anyway. It's about perception. Even if the Malibu is a better car overall, if there are flaws that aren't that significant yet they are plainly obvious, a person, especially an import buyer, will be inclined to notice them right away, and be turned off by it. GM wants to make many conquest buys not just appeal to the same set of domestic buyers. FYI: the amount of cutline in the dash can be an issue because that means more places that rattles and squeaks have the potential to form down the line. Right...so what would be the term for "not giving it 100% and calling it good enough" but then choose to ignore that very, very valid point?

The past ain't what it used to be: The Edsel finally is cool
Intrepidation replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
If only they would do something ballsy these days. I saw a black Edsel convertible at a used car lot a few months ago. -
When the model T made the list I stopped reading...What a load of $h!. Just looking at the list Satty posted shows you how much BS and how little thought was put into it. Why not put the Prius up their as it attracted foolish buyers because of false claims of super fuel economy when there are diesel powered cars that get better, it's batteries are horrible for the environment, it's slow, ugly, and yet people buy it for the image. Buy a 4-banger economy can and save the cash and almost if not as much fuel.
-
Sounds like a smart plan Satty. How was the Fusion for you during your ownership with it? Also, if you go the GTA route you need to repaint it and get VIN tags for it...go to one of those junkyards that have new wrecked cars, find a totaled car like what you're "renting" and swap the VIN tags
