New York 2012: SRT Viper: Comments
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I love it! It's got the feel of the original GTS, but even more taut and menacing. I love the long low hood and low nose. Rare to find that in today's pedestrian-friendly cars with 4 foot high flat noses. I like the restrained use of exposed carbon fiber on the exterior. The interior is such a huge leap forward compared to the old car. I wouldn't call it warm and inviting, but certainly cozy and intimate with a much more modern, cohesive design and lots of upgraded materials as well as nice detailing. I especially like the detailing of the handle and the HVAC vents. Best of all perhaps, is the V10, which true to form, remains naturally aspirated, and is now the most torque-rich N/A engine in the world. -

You must have a sad, miserable life if you can't find better use of of your time. -
I'm on the fence about. I keep getting and Accord/CrossTour/5 Series GT vibe from it, especially the front 3/4 angle, both in the headlights, upright front end, sloping roof, and chunky, tall rear end. It's not a direct copy or anything (unlike the steering wheel), I just get the vibe of those vehicles.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Traverse revealed ahead of NY Auto Show

I like the new nose much better, it looks more balanced and less tacked on. Likewise with the tail lights. They look more proportionate and less like an afterthought. The rear end overall is a huge improvement and no longer looks like a vast void of emptiness. The new interior looks nice as well. Overall much better. -
The week before this past one was exceptionally warm. We broke several records with highs in the 70's and even 80's. This past week was back to reality though with highs in the 40's and even upper 30's one day. Upper 40's and low 50's predicted this week, with a possible warmup the week after.

Indeed, most of them I see are pretty beat to hell. Apparently it was a one owner, garage queen. It certainly shows. My brother did a good job picking it out, especially considering it's his first purchase and he did it himself. There's a few little things (replace the stereo button, replace missing visor clip, clean the headlights) to do but all the important stuff is rock solid, even the tires are relatively new Michelin. Someone even went to the trouble of repainting the wheels. He's very happy with it and plans to take good care of it, he'll have more time for car care now that he has to spend less time repairing the car. -

Well the poor old Shadow is basically at the end of its life. The body rot is pretty horrendous and its having issues overheating, along with lots of other issues that have crept up lately. So with that he decided it was time for a new car. He had been looking for a second gen Grand Cherokee but in the end settled with something quite different: a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 for $4,500. I think he did quite well. It's got just over 100,000 miles. Body is in great shape. No rust at all. Interior is very clean and in good shape except for a few small things (missing radio button). The V6 is very smooth and might as well be brand new by the way it sounds. Very peppy too. The transmission shifts smooth and it drives down the road very nicely. As far as Camries goes this is the best looking generation IMO. He's already taken it cross state. Should be a good car for him.

Of course it's the V6 model. Firstly, the SRT wouldn't be chrome, it'd be body color. Secondly, there's huge market for the V6 model and nearly zero for the another SRT truck. Sure it was cool but that's not where the money is. Don't forget the take rate on the best selling F-150's V6 models handily outsells the V8. In fact the EcoBoost V6 alone outsells the V8 model.

Dodge News: Dodge Shows Off The Challenger Rallye Redline
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
It's worth noting that the engine in YJ's Challenger is essentially the same engine found in that 700,000 mile 300M. The 3.5 is a very good engine. -

Exactly, cylinder count has no bearing on longevity. Care and maintenance have everything to do with it. A high mileage cars I know: My friend's 700,000+ mile 300M - V6 Another friend's 300,000+ mile Legacy - 4 cylinder My 209,000 mile Prizm - 4 cylinder. Look, they have less than eight cylinders! Wow! Buy whatever you like, nothing wrong with that. Choice is always good. Which is why its great to see that Dodge is adding upgrades to the V6 models. But to put a 305 horsepower engine down using such ludicrous arguments is laughable. -

LOL you crack me up, not having to compensate for anything, but the history of life with V6 engines and their so called fuel efficiency is a joke in this country. So far America seems to still make a v8 that lasts compared to v6 or 4 bangers. If your going to get this type of car, then get the real deal I think. This way you know you can easily get 200 to 300K miles out of the engine. The V6 I would only count on for 150K to 200K at best. Plus when you do hit high mileage, a tired v8 can still move an auto nicely compared to a tired v6. That is the most asinine argument I've ever heard. -

Because not everyone needs to compensate for a tiny wang or feels the need to get the V8. Considering the V6 makes 305 horsepower, and it the Ralley packages adds suspension upgrades, it's hardly a poser car. I'd probably get the V8 because that's the ticket to getting the manual, but I wouldn't fault anyone for getting the V6. -
One of the reasons why I love photography is everyday situations and objects that you wouldn't give a second thought about in day to day life become frozen in time and remarkable. The ball frozen in the air, the expression of the players, a droplet of water on a leaf, rust on metal.

Buick News: Buick Offering A 24 Month Lease To Up Sales
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Adding nothing to GM's bottom line in the process. VW group can sell enough vehicles with seven different brands and make profit at better margin in its home W. European market, which is similar size to United States market, much to GM's envy. It was not number of brands but mismanagement of brands. Meanwhile at Toyota whose market share consists mostly of two brands... Did I mention their market share is larger than VW's? Also how many times are going to go down this road in unrelated threads? f@#k's sake. -
Swag.
