i think there is some poor product planning still going on at gm. where is the coupe, why is it not here? how come the problems (cheap interior, no trunk) haven't been fixed? where is the ad campaign? where is the rest of the all new pontiac lineup to support it? plain and simple, GM moves way to fuking slow and trips over itself. one step forward, two steps back. saturn got an all new lineup right away. why didn't pontiac? where is the pontiac torana? where is the new GTO? g8 should have been here 6 months ago? why no all new g6? at some point it makes you wonder if many folks including the untouchables shouldn't be fired. maybe shift decision making out of michigan too they have money for buyouts, but they dont have money to make new products. PATHETIC.

its so funny. one of my recent work trips.....the guy i was with rented a sportage (tucson clone). we had to work like hell to get 3 pieces of luggage and some drawings and work bags in that tiny trunk.....the whole time i was thinking to myself.....this would not even fill half the trunk on my 500. i've really been reflecting internally lately on what i need to do when my 500 lease is up next fall or before then. we have the aztek which suits our crossover needs well, but i still might really prefer a minivan in the future or 3 row crossover....(even though the aztek has more cargo space than 90% of the crossovers out there). If i picked a taurus x, i'd lose 1/3 to 1/2 the usable cargo area i have in the aztek now. so i have been leaning towards the flex, assuming it spacious enough. otherwise i may succumb to a minivan (most likely i would find a lightly used freestar at an auction for like 9 grand and pimp it up with some 6 spoke 18 inch wheels and a big time audio video system). at a minimum, i will replace the 500 with a taurus. but then, when i get those 'bored with crossover' attacks, i realize that i could be really damn happy with another large sedan, but sportier, like say...G8! i just wonder if crossovers are a ten year fad or if they will basically become the new sedan and truck all in one. one benefit with sedans...cargo area is closed off from the cabin. sometimes good, sometimes bad. i guess an all black base model flex is probably the leader right now. point being, even though crossovers are becoming tired and cliched, i guess i would have to lean towards getting one becuase you really get hooked on utility 6 days a week. you'd like a kick ass car for day 7 to beat on, but who can justify the extra car?

Crossovers, one of the most lucrative and busting new segments ever. Automakers are rushing to fill their lineups with all sorts of them. Size, price, etc. They are starting to establish their own design type. They are replacing fuel sucking BOF SUV's. The big wave is just starting, yet, I am now tired of them all. Is this a fad? Or will most vehicles sold in the future be crossovers? How do you feel? I'm already kinda sick of them.

all our emissions laws should be FEDERAL and states should not be allowed to usurp or toughen them, otherwise I would cut their highway money off. i.e. california, i'm talking about you. automakers have enough barriers to developing technology without having to deal with tougher special interest groups like CA and the northeast dolts. why don't we have diesel here? thank california. i don't exactly see CA pumping 'enough' money into alternative fuels, hydrogen, or electrical production and distribution to help solve those causes I get sick of hearing everyone else talks about as savior. CA, if you want clean cars, zero emissions, electric cars, then put up the frig-gin dollars into the infrastructure and technology and lead on that stuff. You want electric cars? Where are the statewide cost effective electric charging stations that can pump my car with electricity in 5 minutes? You have to pay for what you want sometimes. You can't expect corporations to bear the bill for your mandates all the time. I don't see factories in CA building the 4 million cars you buy every year or whatever. If you want this type of stuff, choke up the dollars and design and build it yourself. You can't foot the bill? Then lay off GM and the places that do choke up the dollars to design and build and MANUFACTURE the cars. What's keeping Arnold from wooing GM and Ford with huge money packages to put up factories to build electric cars right in Cali? That would be a productive business venture. You want to lead? Get it going. Imagine all the jobs it would create in your state alone.

Detroit based decision makers rarely show the ability to move in the correct direction in terms of making quick work of opportunity. As others say, it will likely get watered down, too. IF it came here in less than 18 months as shown in these pics, then yes, it will be a HEEYOOGE hit. My advice to Mullally and Bill would be to get this damn thing in showrooms ASAP. That said, aside from the Iosis, as a Ford fan, I am quite on the fence regarding this 'kinetic' design thing they have going on right now. Aero is dead, this is simply Bangle-ized aero. And Bangle has been overdone. That said, its highly distinctive, Ford invented aero in the past, and its well done in this concept and probably would find many fans here aside from EU, despite how on the fence I am about it. Basically, this IS design, and Ford needs to score some style points. No one in the US is selling this look right now. It is a brand differentiator. I would strongly advise Bill and Alan to have this concept at Detroit and LA auto shows. the pub from the design alone will score major points with the press.

if pontiac had a new car out every 12 months or less that was equally as good as the g8, this discussion would be moot. instead some of the pontiacs are still old or irrelevant to the new brand image. last i heard, next g6 was to remain fwd, we'd have the g8, a new 2 dr, and the torana sized rwd car. that plus the solstice and one more car and i think they'd be ok, but seriously folks, gm needs to shut the fluck up with the rhetoric and do some work and put more new cars out more quickly and they have to meet or exceed the standard set by the g8. seems like bob lutz hasn't been able to speed up the process any. maybe he just needs to tell the finance folks where to stick it up theirs a bit more. GM IS JUST TOO DARN SLOW AND DOESN'T MOVE FAST ENOUGH
