and again my guess is she's never bought a new car at all, likely doesn't even make car payments, possibly may not even have a full time job and other bills. and is simply going on whatever is fashionable to say.

rural folk tend to farm and have trucks. they need the truck to do their work. he is asking them to give up their truck and ride a bus. rural folk tend to have firearms. rural folk tend to be self supporting and independent and do not like things like buses. i am certain if michael moore went to a rural farm house and told the people to give up their truck and ride a bus, he would likely get shot.

saab does ok here too. imo, saab should have dropped the msrp's off the 9-3 across the board to be roughly a little below an acura but above vw. instead of trying to compete with bmw. a real honest 9-2, not a subaru, if designed and priced properly, could have blown the doors off some vw offerings in this country if marketed and sold correctly.

What's bad for General Motors is good for the world

i could literally post 100 photos, and still not be done.

functionally the size of the new accord is welcome, i think what spoils it and makes it seem boatish is the interior design. a sprawling dash makes it seem wider than it is. for a large car, the accord does handle ok. funny, my 06 ford 500 rode stiffer than the new accord. the new accord handles better than most midsizers, but overall i can vouch that i like the 010 fusion much more than the accord and that is saying a lot since in the past i have disliked the fusion. my test drive revealed that ford make huge advancements in the 010 fusion. subaru really screwed the pooch on the 010 legacy redo. it's amazing how seemingly tough it is for many of these car companies to make a decent looking family sedan........ i think a lover of the previous gen accord may likely like the new mazda6 better than the current accord. accord and camry are losing buyers to the sonata left and right. sonatas cheaper price, better warranty, equal reliability and new nice interior are stealing buyers. as are fusion and malibu. honda should be worried. civic and accord are two of their staples and they are quickly being eroded. not even the success of the fit can make up for it if this keeps up. acura is even more confused. the tsx and tl are the same size? WTF? the TSX is the car that is sprawling too much now. talk about bloated.

the car that really could have saved saab. some time alone with that car i would have enjoyed as well.

BOO YAH! for sure on that one.
-
oddly i have seen many new maximas around here. but the altima? ouch. seems to me nissan's marketing dept is not doing their jobs lately.....
-
let me tell you, i have driven an 010 fusion and indeed it is the real deal, imo better than the accord. (motor trend said as much in this months issue and then balked and gave the edge to accord based upon "lower cost of ownership" JERKS) the 09 was deeply discounted and the 010 is desirable, ford will move tons of fusions. mks is a disappointment. flex? wow i am shocked at the volume of that although 10k in discounts will do that. escape and mustang holding tight imagine when the new taurus is on board and then the fiesta. new explorer in a year or two and transit connect will sell well i think.

scion=lol the fit must be killing scion. soul and cube and hyundai eating away at it too. hyundai must be eroding camry too. turd- down 45% deserves more, imo. in fairness to camry, the vulva er..... venza is cannibalizing it some.

thing about the pilot. it gets uglier when you get inside it. the traverse should be spanking it in the future
-
not from my standpoint. 106,000 miles on my aztek and 0 out of pocket repairs. brakes (once) tires (once) and oil changes is all.....and at least 10 grand cheaper than a pilot. hard to say that's worst when i can just amass miles and barely pay for it or never fix anything,
-
new pilot is a dud, btw. i think the cx-9, traverse and other products are keeping honda folks away. they don't even want to drive an ugly boring box.
-
maybe its because the civic is ugly, overpriced, not all that quick, is getting cannibalized by corollas, kias, elantras, and its own more interesting Honda Fit. but its got teh vtec........

i guess i don't care about how others arrive at their misguided logic. i typically only need a short test drive to confirm the car sucks. kind of like the toyota vibe i test drove a few days ago. utter cheese. its sad gm has to affix its name to a lifeless soulless vehicle like that.
-
there is enough evidence out there that confirms there is not a lot of difference between pretty much all makes these days. quality as an impression is formed in the details also. as an example, as i inspected a hyundai elantra touring the other day, i was appalled at how thin the sheet metal around the trunk was and how cheaply it was trimmed out. tundra for example is a horrible vehicle in both the way they lauched it and how cheap it feels inside and out. crumpling tailgates? if you want to get in survey pissing matches there are more than enough studies out there that confirm US brand reliability is right up there. and like i said, if you haven't even had a license or even a set of keys long enough to live with a vehicle for its full life after buying new (if you've had a new vehicle at all), its rather funny to attempt to make quality statements about a vehicle brand as a whole. and as a whole, there are more import floaters out there than not, just like domestics. most of your asian cars by volume that get sold in the country are the worst floaters. the euro stuff that actually sells (not just the ones that get wrote up in the mags) are floaters too. for example a passat 2.0t. steers ok but ride and handling in no way are what you would call for an enthusiast. i think if you drove an aura and a passat side by side you would find the aura rides and steers quicker. most audi, lexus, volvo, mercedes sold by volume are floaters. even a non sport 3 series is not anything to get excited about.

or its simply because they think rice vehicles look retarded and are built flimsy.

sat in a g8 the other day at a dealer. sorry, but no way can buick fill pontiac's shoes. pontiac gone is a terrible nightmare for which there is no fix or way to compensate and buick should not have the burden of trying to make up for it.

portland / seattle if the weather doesnt depress you the women will

i was at the saturn dealer today and talked with one of the reps and he mentioned the magna deal and that saturn is indeed hoping it means they will become the new retailer of all the opel design saturn gets revenge. and if this is the case, i am not stuck with buying a chevy or a buick. if this turns out, i think saturn fans will be pleasantly happy! what sucks is if this is what happens why pontiac had to die and GM is left with union / gov. union owners and nothing but korean cruzes and buicks to look forward to.

the ecoweenies created the perfect trifecta. gas prices will go up because they know to price it high enough until it breaks our pocketbooks. use less gas? price fuel higher. now we'll be using electricity. we'll need more so the monopolistic utilities will keep asking for higher rates. the cars will need to get smaller and crackerboxy to please the weiners. we'll end up with small crackerboxes that are no fun, are smaller than we want and we'll be paying more. prius doesn't need to worry about volt. insight will steal a lot of prius business in the meantime. neither car has any attributes people will buy aside from high mpg. Lexus HS? Huge joke. Anyone who buys that.....my gosh. GM has to produce the volt because of how they killed the EV. This is payback. Even if it loses tons of money, there is no way they cannot sell this car.

GM Confirms plans to build compact car in US
regfootball replied to DBeaSSt's topic in General Motors
they'll have to be for export. unless the price is cheap. so this probably won't make money. -
its quite a bit of BS. 20+/- yo and making judgements about what car sucks when chances are they have never made a car payment or a house payment and have never owned a new car by which to make claims about whether a car is reliable or not. and then it is still a fashion thing. cars are bought as fashion accessories. so yeah, if you're young and want to impress your friends you have to buy the import vehicle, its a designer product. and then they end up buying the big weiner mobiles anyways, camry, accord, outback. because someone told them to.

2010 GMC Terrain revealed
regfootball replied to BigPontiac's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
the liberty is ok, but that's not even a really good box. H3 is a stylish box, albeit not as practical. pilot drove by my house tonight. i just about gagged. the pilot is one of the most confused looking vehicles on the market. the traverse/acadia is so much classier. you've got to be insane to be drawn to the 'it's pat' aura of the pilot.
