  1. Enzora, what is the root of this fear (since you got an 11)? I admittedly think a lot about it too...and how to avoid it. The one way I do not want to go is being someone's lunch...that is dead last! (No pun intended) I just rented "Open Water" the other night. No more ocean swimming for me. I haven't gone into the ocean since the summer of 2001 rash of shark attacks. I've often thought it would follow "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." In my case, that would be an airplane as I like to travel. Still, I don't want to go that way either.
  2. Reg, I used Hertz while in Las Vegas last weekend. I could have had a Taurus but asked for their GMs. It seems that EVERYtime I go to LV, I get a Grand Prix. And if Hertz has them, you bet they abound at Alamo/National and at Avis. I also saw a lot of Impalas and Malibus all around the city with the rental agency bar code stickers. Incidentally, there were a handful of LaCrosses at Hertz. They all indicate a dual tailpipe meaning CXS with 3.6 VVT V6 and leather....and leather in Las Vegas is a big NO THANK YOU. The LaX CXSs are always in the premium category.

  4. Getting back on track... there is still sort of an "implied contract" in European countries but that's fading. It's hard to get a job (even a not so great one) and then it's hard to lose it. Then, there are all kinds of safety valves when people go through a downsizing over there...they (who, I don't know) pay you for quite a while. I think they are trying to get away from that over there to be leaner and meaner. In case you didn't know, there is also age discrimination over there. I read some ads to see how they differ from American/Canadian ones and they specify age ranges! I told my cousins that, in North America, you CAN'T do that. They are really behind the times...and I am speaking about Italy. I'm sure France is not that different. Incidentally, I think this is an entirely different thread than them harping on religious minorities. We are talking about something else here...
  5. Chargerino! Yes. Your REAL hometown was cool. Watching the low life can be interesting. The furthest west I went was Summerlin...nice, new area. The furthest east I went was Lake Mead and Henderson...also a decent area with nice views of Vegas from the ridge. Just wish OTHERS would share their Spring Break week or weekends.
  6. Expensive
  7. I almost wet my pants (j/k) hitting that link to look at 2007. Then I read on....not much there. Oh, well. Good things come to those who wait.

  10. This guy who sat in the next office at work was from Smithtown. Through his endless stream of L.I. stories, I lived on Long Island vicariously. He kept telling me over and over that I would fit in there. (But it's too cold) His wife was a pain the ass. She would come in to the office and complain to me about California...constantly. I would just nod. They moved back. Then they returned. When they got back to L.I., she missed California. Poor guy...he acted like he was tough, but he was really P.W.'d. One time, his wife brought me back a phone directory from L.I. called "The Jewish 411." She knew I'd bust a gut over it.
  11. Let's hear some. Good or bad. Doesn't matter. Las Vegas...long weekend...not that warm, shucks...love the starkness of the desert landscape but wouldn't want to live there....there's a lot of low-life around (what do you expect in a gambling based town). Took the last flight back up and it ran late, so today at work was B...A....D.
  12. Sorry, Lauren, was expecting something I could help with. Nice TeeTh...that was from the picture you posted standing with your boyfriend. A good smile...your dentist/ortho would be proud. I just had braces "installed" 2 months ago. Good luck with your search for this topic/item.

    Tornados

Q: What do tornadoes and divorces in Appalachia have in common? A: Either way, you lose the mobile home. Pretty hair? Good Gawd, PB!
  14. Tonya Harding (charged with hitting her boyfriend with one)
  15. I was in Las Vegas from Friday PM through Sunday evening. I had a chance to look at a lot of Cadillacs on the road (love the name of that dealer in Vegas -- Cashman Cadillac), mostly CTSs and some STSs. In general, I think the slab sides are great ,as are the angular lenses and grilles up front. I think, though, that the rear decks and the taillights that have to make the stretch from the bumper up to reach the deck lid are too tall. The whole composition at the rear of the car is too chunky. To go along with this tallness, I think that, from a test sit, the center stack is also too tall and the general feeling behind the wheel of a CTS and STS is a bit claustrophobic. I'm 5-10 and I like a lower cowl in front of me. Other reviewers have also commented on the tallness (is this a word) of the instrument panel. Your thoughts?
  16. Four things: 1. Need some more nicknames for some of the towns...i.e. Massapequa = Matzah-pizza 2. You know that Great Egg and Little Egg in "The Great Gatsby" is Great Neck and Little Neck - I think. 3. New Yorkers love to complain. Period. Who is worse? Jews or Italians? I think the former, but both are obnoxious. A bi-coastal from New York: While in Los Angeles: there's no culture heah. you can't get good food at 2 am heah. the portions are too small heah. While in New York: the weather is awful heah. there's too many people heah. yada yada yada 4. Change at Jamaica - don't get it. Actually, Jamaica Estates is very nice. And thank you so much for the Jersey comment , being that it is the only place in the metro area in which I have resided (age 8 to 9).
  17. So, tell me, did this auto show have seoul or not?
  18. That's cool.
  19. Hill (in San Francisco)
  20. Chargerino, be good, ok? Then come back when you can! Las Vegas (1 day and counting...) A L S O Thanks for one of the best threads ever, "Word Association" ...as you can see, many of us are enjoying it and it has been running for a long time!

  22. C'mon, ehaase, don't you find posts by Croc and Trinacriabob to be highly enlightening as well? :AH-HA_wink:
  23. Reg, you can be so crass. The poor guy wants some SOLID advice to lift his morale, not your "it's all pink once you're inside" frame of mind. :AH-HA_wink:
  24. It is an INfinitesimal difference in height. It shouldn't matter. She should like you for everything else you have to offer and it's other things that will dictate the chemistry. Just go. You may like the way everything lays out on paper and find out there is no chemistry in person. Big deal.
