  1. Datsun was owned by Nissan long before the Z car came along @A Horse With No Name
  2. I should also not that I will allow Mercedes prior to the Daimler-ChryCo merge, based on the fact that Mercedes was the only brand that produced cars within Daimler prior to Smart.
  3. Also, I hope people realize Ferrari has been a part of Fiat since 1969.
  4. Panoz made production cars.
  5. First off, I'm loving all the other threads, and the participation!! With that said, this is the third and final DG thread I came up with based on the 4th of July. It's a day in celebration of independence. This installment is based on that, stand alone maker's independence from huge corporate umbrellas. The premise is simple you will only be allowed to choose from vehicles that came from manfacturers that were completely autonomous at the time. That means no Chevys post-GM. No Ferrari's or Chryslers after FCA. No Dodges after ChryCo merger. No post-Audi Lambos. No post-VW Porsches, etc, etc. Rules- 1) Maximum of 10 vehicles, as with other 4th Special DG's. 2) Any market is allowed. 3) Production cars only. 4) I will allow ONE concept. 5) I will allow ONE racecar/non-street legal selection. 6) MOST IMPORTANTLY- YOUR SELECTION MUST HAVE BEEN MADE FROM A MFR THAT AT THE TIME WAS COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT!!!! THIS MEANS NO MERGERS, NO BUY OUTS, TAKEOVERS, ETC. THAT SAID, BRANDS THAT ARE OTHERWISE ALONE, BUT HAVE JOINTLY DEVELOPED PRODUCTS- SUBARU, FOR EXAMPLE- ARE ALLOWED Here is a quick cheat-sheet for people who may have trouble figuring this one out- Mercedes Benz pre 1998 BMW pre 1994 McLaren Honda pre 1986 McLaren Subaru (no BRZ) Nissan pre 1989 (no Datsuns) Toyota pre 1989 TVR Jaguar pre 1990 Porsche pre 2011 Lamborghini pre 1998 Ferrari pre 1969 Volkswagen pre 1965 Aston Martin pre 1991 Bentley pre 1931 Rolls Royce pre 1931 Lotus pre 1986 Alfa Romeo pre 1932 Mazda pre 1996 and post 2014
  6. Bentley EXP Speed Concept Jaguar XJR-14 Aston Martin Vantage V12 S Land Rover LR4 TVR Sagaris McLaren F1 High Downforce Kit McLaren P1 Lotus 3-Eleven Lotus Esprit V8 Bentley Flying Spur W12 S
  7. This is the 2nd of 3 July 4th themed UDG threads I had planned. Just wasn't able to get them all up before the 4th. Since we won our independence from the British, it seems fitting that we have a Dream Garage dedicated to our tyrant turned ally. In matching our American one, this one will allow 10 choices. Rules- 1) British makes ONLY. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) You are allowed ONE concept/one-off choice. 4) You are also allowed ONE racecar/non-street legal choice. 5) You MUST have at least ONE off-road/SUV choice. 6) Maximum of 10 vehicles. That's it, enjoy!!
  8. @A Horse With No Name I feel like your list is really pushing the boundaries of 'luxury cars', lol. And here I was feeling bad about my Jarama pick. I had a 64 Continental on standby if it didn't work.
  9. 2010 + : Continental GTC- I absolutely adore these cars, so easy choice. My topless driver's car of the group. 2000's: 2008 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio- Because just look at it. 90's: BMW E38 750- Greatest 7 Series ever made. 80's: 1989 Lexus LS400- At the time, nothing else was even close. A total game-changer. 70's: Lamborghini Jarama- This is a luxo GT coupe, so I firmly believe it should count.
  10. @A Horse With No Name Can they be lux GT's?
  11. Very cool one. Should be fun. And different.
  12. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo Shelby GT350R SVT Raptor Cadillac Elmiraj 1964 GTO Ford GT (sans stripes) New ZL1 Vert SRT Grand Cherokee Shelby Cobra 427 1964 Continental
  13. So, in celebration of that most American of holidays, I thought a Dream Garage thread was in order. And what other rule to base it on besides the V8? Rules on this one are sweet and simple- 1) American brands only. 2) V8 engines only. 3) Maximum of 10 choices. 4) I will allow one concept/one-off selection. 5) I will allow one non-street legal/racecar selection. 6) At least one truck/SUV option. 7) Any era is fair game. Have fun.
  14. Lol. @oldshurst442 I love your gifs. And music videos.
  15. E30 M3- This is a must-have. 718 Cayman S- Think I would even have in PDK. 356 Speedster- Easily one of the prettiest 4 cylinders ever built. Audi A5 Sportback- Sweet daily. Colorado ZR2 Duramax- Off-road fun.
  16. Okay, you guys knew it was eventually coming. We did a HP installment (of which there is still more coming, so stay tuned), one based on displacement, and several other various ones along the way, so it's only natural we do one based on cylinder count. So with that, we will do the first one- the humble 4 cylinder. Disdained and mocked by many, 4 cylinder engines indisputably power some of the greatest cars ever built. From historic cars of unspeakable significance; to sport compact cars that punch above their weight class; to nimble off-roaders; to backroad, gravel trail, and road course slaying terrors; everyone should be able to find something they like here. So the rules- 1) These are your only vehicles. 2) Maximum of 5 choices. 3) Standard production models only. 4) Any era and market allowed. 5) Obviously- 4 cylinder engines only. Have fun.
  17. Well, I love the RS5. It's like the a 911 C4 and GT350 had a baby. Stunning looks, tenacious AWD grip, impeccable refinement and build quality, and fantastic sonorous N/A V8. That said, I probably wouldn't actually buy one. For the money, I'd buy a new S4 or RS3. It's to the point I don't think I would ever swap an LS into a non-GM vehicle. I understand why people do it, and it's a great engine, but it has just been done to death at this point.
  18. I was driving around with my mom- who is 53- the other day, and she pointed out a new C Class we were coming up on at a red light. She asked me what it was, and when I told her said, "It looks like a Hyundai." I submit as evidence-
  19. Well, they ARE making an AWD GC Hellcat, so...... Aside from that, even if they detuned it a bit and did a few other unique-to-it special touches, it would have been a lot cooler.
  20. I like where your head's at, but an R8 is a little out of my price range at the moment, lol. Maybe an RS5. Of course, the only way it'd beat the more track savvy pony cars is in inclement weather.
  21. A sub-Boxster Roadster, and a real off-roader would be a great start. And more wagons.....
  22. Yeah, they're just missing a few key cars and they'd be near perfect.
  23. I hope to see a true-to-concept Mission E make it to production. The thing is just stunning.
  24. Eat your hearts out M, AMG, RS. This is a proper super sedan. It looks like an Australian V8 Supercar sans numbers and sponsors. And actually limited production. Bravo. So, so, sooooo much want.
