  1. I thought EVERYONE thought that.
  2. True. I can't imagine that David E would even FIT in the Swift.

You guys got a lot farther than me. I had problems with the FIRST LINE! Let's see...$10,000,000,000 divided by $5,000 and you get 2,000,000 vehcies. As I recall (forgive me for not scrambling to look up the exact number), GM built over 8,000,000 vehicles. While $10,000,000,000 is a staggering number for any company and a $5,000 loss per vehicle is astounding, the real number of around $1,000 is much easier to deal with. And what's the number given to pension and healthcare per vehicle? Take that alone out and isn't there a profit?I'm not saying that this article is off the mark, because it might not be. But when you open the article with such bad math, why should I read further?
  7. Between this thread and the ones discussing the departure of Ah-ha, I'm so glad nobody here knows who I am.
  8. One of the greatest movies of all time: "The Blues Brothers"
  9. I don't have the specific dates which is why I haven't answered these. But these three answers I'm sure are off a bit. The first GM product built outside of the US was built in Canada, probably a Buick. Ford had produced 25,000,000 vehicles by 1927 so I'm sure GM's was well before 1966, which would put their 50,000,000 decades earlier as well. GM has since topped 100,000,000, I believe.
  10. I with you. Respect is not about who agrees with you. It's about who can make you think about your own position. Changing your own position is not necessary, but a proper and well-thought out debate is.For that reasoning, I agree with the above positing.
  11. Blackviper: That was you in 1997? Now I feel REALLY old! I don't remember when I was THAT young.
  12. Z06 (hardly a question)Black or blue? Since I need to post a question here, I have. But the earlier question was not a question. What is "conventional" steering. I think you need to start a thread to explain that one. I know of worm-and-roller, recirculating ball, rack and pinion, but never heard anyone call any of them "conventional."
  13. The commercial is not a year old. I found out that it made its debut during the Super Bowl, which makes it a month and a half old.
  14. Anyone see the new Saturn commercial during "The West Wing" Sunday night? Watching the show on TiVo, I nearly skipped past it. It featured a napkin drawing of the Saturn Sky which morphs (very well) into a blueprint and then into a clay model, and then into a production Sky moving at highway speeds. The commercial ends as the Sky passes between the updated 2007 Saturn Vue and the new Saturn Aura.
  15. I'm serious as well. The great thing about how GM has over-extended itself is that the biggest competition for a GM dealer is another GM dealer. If you don't the price or service, or treatment you get at one dealer, the next dealer isn't all that far away. This is how you take advantage of supply and demand. They have an over supply of dealers and a limited and dwindling demand for their products. If you want a Pontiac, the next closest Pontiac dealer can't be all that far away. In the rural area where I grew up, my neighbor owned the local Pontiac dealer...but there were three or four more dealers within 40 miles.Any product is only worth as much as you are willing to pay for it. If it's worth list price (or marked up) to you, you'd pay the local dealer's prices. But it's obviously not that way. Find someone who is willing to sell it to you for the price you want to pay. Easy as that.
  16. Actually, they're not budgeted for the peso.

    Hummer?

First, it's been out of production for a number of years. Second, it's powered by a (large) diesel four-cylinder. The H1 is (as is pointed out above) built by AM General but is sold by GM. The H2 is a GM design, built by AM General and sold by GM. The H3 is a GM design, built by GM, and sold by GM.
  18. Not the Solstice...the rest of the Pontiac line.
  19. When pricing out the cost of a hybrid, make sure to calculate in any tax incentives which, in some cases, bring the vehicle into competition with a non-hybrid on intial price.
  20. DewaltStay up late or get up early?
  21. If a dealer actually makes money on marking up vehicles...especially a GM dealer, more power to them. If these vehicles are making money (by luring buyers to other vehicles), they're doing their job. I don't think they are...and they can't have "everything" marked up because there's no place in the US where Pontiacs are in such demand that everyone's unloading their bank accounts into the salesmans' hands.I'm sure if such a place existed, GM would have marketing people there analyzing the situation.
  22. They did not know me. They hung out on sites other than GMI and C&G. And I didn't recognize (nor do I remember) their screen names.
