2015 GMC Canyon Build & Price Site Now Live
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in GMC Trucks
They should have gone with a Mini Pickup and not a Mid Size Pickup. Could have done better. Should have done better. I would like the Marketing Idiots to show me that customers are wanting mid size pickups priced the same as Full Size Pickups and that there is no demand for Mini Pickups. -
Gotta Love California and all the car culture you can find just walking down the sidewalk.

Hyundai News:Spying: Next Hyundai Equus Makes Its First Appearance

I have to agree that this is just a mule testing the underpinnings of the new design language otherwise a Big deal as they did this and everyone has been there before. Too early to really tell just what is going to happen. -
Learning The Dark Arts Of Driving A Manual Transmission
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Opinion
Awesome to read how you overcame your fear of the Manual and now can drive anything. Way to Go Bill! While using a manual exclusively for teaching people to drive a manual will shorten the life a bit of the clutch, over all they are beefy enough transmissions to handle it and still give an outstanding experience. Manuals are fun to drive. Be interesting to see how much longer they stick around since Auto's are stronger and get better gas mileage now in most cases.- 30 replies

Before you rant about GM getting anything right, take your MB love affair and make them get their house in order as they are building some terrible quality products in their own right. Also, the story on Car and Driver shows that metal from the oil filter seemed to get into the engine. I would not say this was due to a bad engine but yes they do say that GM has had a couple other engines blow up. Not much different than all the MB or BMW engines that have blown up. A friend of mine has had his AMG in the shop more often than he has driven it and this was after trading in his M3 due to the same issue thinking he would get a better car by going to MB. Seems they have just as many poor builds and a wait time for the hand built items to get here from Germany.

Interesting, good to see GM take care of this immediatly, sad that at the start of the 2015 production this had to happen. What idiot did not do their job right needs to be fired.

Saw this story on MSN Auto's this morning. Most Improved cars of the last 10 years. Pretty interesting. http://editorial.autos.msn.com/most-improved-cars-of-the-last-10-years?icid=autos_5852#1 MSN Auto's list the top 3 as follows: Chrsyler 200 Kia Rio Kia Optima This is followed by Hyundia Accent Jeep Grand Cherokee Chevrolet Cruze Chevrolet Impala Dodge Dart Chevrolet Colorado Cadillac CTS Aston Martin Vanquish Tesla Model S Honda Civic Nissan Altima Chevrolet Camero So what do you think are the most improved auto's of the last 10 years?

Dealers are stupid if they try to go above the MSRP. Dodge is doing this right. give them to the dealers who will sell them as is and turn the inventory. I loved the Chevy SSR Pickup last year but still did not buy one due to stupid dealers marking them up 10-15K above the MSRP. Course glad they were idiots as I have an awesome Trailblazer SS that only had 24K miles on it when I bought it after being out for 4 years in the hands of a lady who pretty much took care of it. Paid 24K. So I am very happy. But this does show a problem with the dealers who try to mark up the hardware way too much. Just cause people have higher incomes in some areas does not mean they will pay above MSRP.

I'd take the overly small SRX over this ugly pig any day. They have yet to build something I like. Nice write up and very informative, but I am still not impressed. Still just an also ran CUV!

Disagree. I would say Aston is more memorable then... Volvo, Mitsubishi, Lexus, Lincoln... I Could go on. This is a total Hitting the Nail on the Head Statement. Aston should stay, these others could go on to be foot notes in Auto History books.

Lexus News: Rumorpile: The Lexus GS F Rumor That Won't Die
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Toyota has been quickly moving away from all big engines. I would more believe they will use a turbo or supercharged V6 than a V8. -
Marketing has been the whole problem from the beginning. Glad to hear they are addressing this.

I have to disagree. The TT is a Jelly Bean Bland car. Do not see what others see in it and that could also be why sales are in the dumper. The initial fans got their 2 door coupe and now the rest find it boring and blah and so they sit on the lots rotting.

August 2014: General Motors Co.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in 2014 Sales Archive
Cadillac only has one crossover. The SRX. The Escalade is an SUV .....as are the suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon. If they had 3 or 4, their sales would be a lot more. Look at all the lux marques.....the percent of crossover sales vs sedans..... I don't think SUV vs Crossover really matters to most of the people buying them. Another crossover would help Cadillac, but it isn't going to be the savior, it will probably just steal more sales off the CTS or ATS depending on how they sized or priced it, maybe it would take some sales off Acura who relies on crossover sales. The 3-series outsells BMW's whole crossover lineup by more than 2 to 1 combined. The C-class and E-class combined usually outsell the GLK, ML, GL trio by more than 2 to 1 each year. Only 27% of BMW sales this year are crossovers. The problem is GM doesn't build good sedans or market them well to make people want them. They pour their engineering and marketing dollars into trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. Which for them probably makes sense, they make more profit on them, but you can make profit on sedans too if they are good. SMK you continue to LIE about Cadillac Sedans. They are superior to anything currently being built by BMW or MB. GM's problem lies in it's marketing and sales approach of the vehicles and people like you who continue to talk trash about the auto's without taking a real look at just how junky the BMW and MB auto's are. Rather than just continue to barf up the same generic garbage, please post actual facts of comparisons of material, hip room, leg room, head room, etc. Right now ATS and CTS beats BMW and MB, yet since they now build a quality product, you and others just like you continue to rip them as inferior by using generic excuses rather than facts. Just accept it, every dog has their day and right now Cadillac quality is not the problem, they built a superior product! Their marketing and sales approach is the problem in showing just how superior their auto's are.- 34 replies

Volvo News: What Does Volvo Have In Mind For Their Future Lineup?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
Had to Bing V70 as I had never heard of it nor knew of it as a brand within a brand and then I saw the images. Station Wagon. Yea, not a winner or seller here in Seattle. Did they ever sell them here as I cannot recall ever seeing a volvo station wagon here in Seattle. I can say I have only seen 1 XC70 that is kinda like a station wagon on steroids.- 6 replies

WOW, Nice Exterior, FAILURE Interior. Dash looks like something out of a 80's K-Car and that 3rd seat is a Joke. Hope you can delete it and save some money as it is a worthless seat..Give the space to the back seat for proper leg room. Good Luck selling it as I am not impressed, there are far superior SUV's that this thing based on the interior looks alone. Before anyone says they are the best off road SUV, I say bring it on and prove it on the Rubicon. I bet Land Rover is sitting on their history more than actually building a solid 4x4 with 21st century looks. Right now this is the 80's interior with 21st century exterior.

August 2014: Chrysler Group LLC
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in 2014 Sales Archive
Seems that they are doing some good things. Amazing the sales level of the Cherokee. Awesome. I hope with the end of Durango that Jeep picks up a 7 passenger SUV to keep the sales or grow them. I wish GM would be better focused in some ways of not having duplicate products on sister lots.- 9 replies

Volvo News: What Does Volvo Have In Mind For Their Future Lineup?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
The new China owners could have done a wonderful thing rather than just move forward with a Blah dude lineup. They could have dropped the stupid numbers thing and went with names and really introduced a lovely luxury lineup. I have to agree with others that I think this company will eventually fad into the back of being just a history note.- 6 replies
