The Total Package: MT Tests Duramax Canyon
G. David Felt replied to El Kabong's topic in Industry News
Mehhhhh, Military green does nothing for me. I love the metallic green of the GM mid size trucks. But to each their own, they have colors that inspire us all. -
I have to say that my initial reaction is I like this. 373 miles versus 233 miles, as long as you have over 200 miles an EV auto like this will appeal to many buyers as an awesome commuter car with errand running range. In other words, range anxiety will be a thing of the past.

Does Mazda even want a V6 anymore though? If they are the most efficient lineup, like Drew said, then they're probably content with a family of 4's. They'd probably prefer to boost a 4 banger rather than throw in a heavier V6 because they put so much emphasis on driving dynamics. Afterthought: I completely forgot about the CX-9. To me, that would be the only application for a V6 in their lineup. Everything else can be done with an I4, boost or n/a. The CX-9 is getting a boosted 2.5 liter 4-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. No need for a Pentastar. Well, there ya go then! lol Also, How large is the CX-9? Is it Explorer side? or more like an Edge? It's a 3-row SUV, right? So I assume it's larger, more Explorer-like. Per their web site, CX-9 has a wheel base of 113.2" with an over all length of 200.6" then a width of 76.2" and height of 68" and ground clearance of 6" Ford Explorer has a wheel base of 112.8" and an over all length of 198.3" then a width of 78.9" and height of 71.0" and ground clearance of 7.8"

I don't think they would even buy Jeep. They would be better off giving GMC some unique off-road product. i honestly don't see GM buying anything anytime soon wince that is part of what got them in their previous issue. Also, the Hummer project didn't exactly turn out all that great. The whole idea of a merger was ignorant anyway. they don't need a merger, they have tech and new platforms they just need to put the product where it is needed (Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, and Jeep) and send Fiat back home. I do think Alfa has a possibility though and it gives them a high end to offer new tech that can trickle down to the rest (ala Cadillac and Chevy). Many of us have always felt HUMMER should have been a special package you could put on your GMC. That is the best thing for GM. In regards to buying Jeep, Wish I could do a better job at sarcasm. Sorry, the whole jeep thing was a sarcasm comment on my behalf.

Why waste R&D dollars on a V6 wen you can go Hybrid for the CX-9 and use a turbo 4 plus a decent electric motor. Better yet, use their I4 N/A as a generator and go with a pure electric AWD power train. Make the CX-9 like the Volt. Pure EV for the first 80 miles and then generator driven.

So the investment will come from raping the american auto lines and investing in the stupid italian lines that are crap to begin with and should not be resurrected. In regards to the merger, I am sure Mary told him to pound sand and stop the nonsense. GM has no interest in FCA unless they want to sell Jeep. They might buy Jeep only.

http://www.carophile.com/the-worst-cars-of-all-time/ Car O Phile published what they believe is the worst cars ever starting from the dawn of the auto industry to the most current. While I agree with most of the auto's, I also wonder why a few others are not on the list. What is your thought?

The Total Package: MT Tests Duramax Canyon
G. David Felt replied to El Kabong's topic in Industry News
WOW, 28MPG while carrying 500lbs in the bed up a grade. Over all getting better city and highway MPG than rated by the EPA. My Favorite quote from the story is: “It’s slightly dangerous liking this thing as much as I do,” noted testing director Kim Reynolds. “It sort of signals a preference for cars over trucks as this (and the Colorados) are notably more carlike, in a weird way almost filling the old Ranchero/El Camino role.” The Green is freakin BEAUTIFUL! I also love their compliment to the Apple/Android IntelliLink system and how they say GM's system has only gotten better since it's initial release last year. -
Found this on the web. Amazing how many people with money think they are amazing race car drivers here in America or around the world.

So then how come such a huge price drop between new to 1 or 2 years old or even older.? http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/Mercedes-Benz/S-Class/Seattle+WA-98133?endYear=2017&firstRecord=0&makeCode1=MB&mmt=%5BMB%5B%5D%5BS_CLASS%5B%5D%5D%5D&modelCode1=S_CLASS&searchRadius=25&showcaseOwnerId=571416&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&startYear=1981&Log=0 Brand New 2016 S550 $125K asking price, New 2015 S550 asking $108K and then you get your 2013 S550 with 22K miles and asking $61K and the prices just dump from there. It is amazing to find how big and fast the S series prices dump after 2 years. More than 50% price dump.

Aren't most truly luxury items relatively bland and subtle for the price you pay for them? What about this is cheap in your eyes? The styling? Or have you sat in and gotten a chance to fiddle with the pieces that you actually feel? I guess I'm just confused how it can be cheap *at this stage of the game*. The point I am making is that Cadillac hit their ultimate stride of top quality materials and then they started to cheapen things up internally and externally. I am seeing MB do this as they expand their product line and once you grow too a certain point it seems executives then look for ways to cheapen up the auto to increase profits. The models they had at the Seattle Auto Show in Nov 2015 made me shake my head, as much as they did things right they also clearly went cheap in other areas. Alright, I understand what you're talking about with the cheapening. I cannot agree nor disagree as I haven't been in one in person(any of the new gen E-Classes). What about the "bland un-motivational look" part? (not trying to be a prick and start and argument, I'm genuinely curious about your opinion on that aspect of the car.) The bland un-motivational look is just that, many have pointed out the dated look of the tail lights, over all body shape and the big mouth billy bass front end. If you are to be the luxury leader that is elegant and understated but stands out, then you need to be that and not just a knock off of your older S series or other more generic jelly bean shapes. MB and BMW both have gotten very bland in their design language. Nothing inspirational here. Maybe if you start with the flow on top of the windshield and flow over the super raked windshield you get .23 CD. But looking at that blunt nose, there is no way this auto is a .23 CD.

YAWN, Talk about a boring car on the outside. The rear is a dated rear as already mentioned and lets talk about the REDNECK lower front bumper with the Big Mouth Billy Bass openings on each side. How is this a luxury auto to aspire to when you have a bland un-motivational look. I will grant them that the interior dash is nice, much better than the floating nav crap we have seen. Inside I like much nicer than past interiors but just equalling what everyone else is doing now. Hate to say this but this E-Class reminds me of Cadillac peak just before Fake Leather and rebadging hit it's stride at GM. I wonder just how cheap MB will go next with this product.

This does give GM an advantage over everyone else as they are in with the customer NOW on Lyft and I can see Lyft putting together a deal for their drivers to buy GM autos for daily use in their job. Ford and Chrysler have nothing there yet.

Bugatti Chiron Rumored To Be Expensive. Also, Fast.
G. David Felt replied to El Kabong's topic in Industry News
Could see them using extensive use of Carbon fiber including the rims of this car to get it to that speed. -
Sergio needs to go, FCA Needs to kill off the stupid waste of billions on a History name brand that never really sold and had terrible quality in the US and the world. Reinvest the money back into Dodge, Chrysler, Ram and Jeep. This will allow them to have funds to improve the pathetic product line called Fiat. Or just kill it off also as they are terrible cars. End result is the Charger is a lover car as is the 300. Yet they are now the boat anchors in the industry and they need to be replaced with lighter better autos. Guilia should be focused on just Chrysler as a luxury line, used for a performance line on Dodge and call it a good day.
