Porsche News: Porsche Reveals 2017 718 Cayman
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
While I hope it performs like all Porsche should, the style is just stale, blah, bland, they have done this for the last 30 years so what else is really new?- 3 replies

Honda News: Honda Debuts 2017 Accord Hybrid, Expands Clarity Lineup
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
Then why is GM partnering with Honda for hydrogen? The hydrogen vehicles will be a Golden State special. Or just another way to get the billions in dollars being offered for R&D by the feds. This then ends up with some tweaks for the autos while they still say they are working on the Hydrogen stuff.- 8 replies

Lincoln News: 2017 Lincoln Continental To Begin At $45,485
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Not if the quality of materials, fit n finish is not there and it does not scream luxury. In your opinion, have you detected anything through either picture or a journalist's remark (someone who has experienced it in person) that would suggest that this new Lincoln will not have quality materials, fit or finish? What I see, is continuous improvement in a brand that is delivering on product, but is a step or two behind in perception. I bet this Continental will immensely help on the latter. In watching the black video above, it is a nice auto, but does not wow me as a Luxury and if you look at the lines, there is clear differences on the hood in the door panels and dash inside. This is a nice Buick competitor. Yes it has improved and that is great for Lincoln, but this is no Cadillac, BMW or MB competitor. -
OUCH and Diesel will take another big hit, Expect billions more to be spent by the Euro auto companies to deal with this mess. I think we will see a decline in Diesel even in Europe as auto companies look to Hybrid and long term to EVs to meet government regulations.

Very interesting story Balthazar, Thank you for posting the link. Seems MB needs to clean up it's own house for emission testing. How a company does not know or can respond quickly to a request on how it tested to meet emissions is beyond me. This is not black magic, but straightforward QA Engineering.

Honda News: Honda Debuts 2017 Accord Hybrid, Expands Clarity Lineup
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
So Honda is taking a page from GM with a VOLT and BOLT twins to sell. I bet the Hydrogen never actually gets here. All the facts show that the amount of energy needed to create the hydrogen fuel is counter productive to what can be done with plug-in hybrids and EVs.- 8 replies

This will be interesting to see how much compensation they do for the owners. The lease folks at least can get out of the auto now. See how VW handles this marketing. Hmmmmmm

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Bolt Comes Into Focus
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
If I'm not mistaken the e-Golf is the same way. I tried to shop around for one just for the heck of it to see prices and they are nowhere near me. The e-Golf is a true compliance auto for sale in only select states that have mandated an EV. As such like the Leaf it has a limited 83 mile battery range based on average 60 degree temp. Be interesting to see if VW follows BOLT and Tesla 3 with a 200+ mile version. I think it would be a great upgrade, but they do need to add HP and Torque. I see on the web site it is about 1/3 less than the BOLT.- 31 replies

I would agree that Cadillac should be larger than life when you see it but does not have to be physically large. It is the right balance of Style with attention to details that brings peoples eyes to the auto and everything else around it becomes a blur in the background. Cadillac needs to get all auto's into that portfolio. I do think Escalade, SRX / XT5, ATS and CTS V have it, not sure what it is about the CTS, but it is missing something be it very small, it is very close. Not having seen a CT6 yet in the wild only pictures, I hope it has it also. An understated elegance that will capture peoples wow factor. I aspire to have one!

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Bolt Comes Into Focus
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Remember those of us who think outside the box is what drive innovation. Too many places around this country are happy to stay with status quo and just live on old money. Why just like there are plenty of companies that build replacement engines for current petro cars would there not also be a desire for performance parts and upgrades for EVs? I can see offering performance EV motors, batteries, etc. all kinds of performance upgrades that people would buy to improve or change their EV to meet their personal desire. After all those thinking outside the box is why we have the tech industry today.- 31 replies

Sergio is destroying FCA with his piss pore Alfa crap and Fiat crap and so at least Dodge is getting another auto that can make money and hopefully give cash to update other dodge products. One can only hope that Sergio will stop raping the American name plates to steal all the money. I do think you have a point, they could very well be spending that money to update other products, but then maybe this is all they can afford, drop in the engine and a nose clip plus brakes and let it go.

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Bolt Comes Into Focus
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
One benefit of EVs is you do not need a driveline between back and front, so why not have an option for a second motor in back, I can see a 3rd party building that option. Then like Tesla has done add 300HP and Torque to the rear, flash the computer and have a 500hp 566 lb-ft of torque BOLT.- 31 replies

This makes me wonder if due to the size, if 3rd party companies will start to build upgrade PERFORMANCE motors for the BOLT or others? After all, unlike a petro engine, this is much smaller and should be able to handle an easy change out.- 31 replies

Very interesting, the buy back is what I think should have been done from day one. With that said, I think VW to show good will and to address their lies of creating and using cheap software especially on auto's that cannot be fixed without engineering change should just swap out equal 2016/2017 model for their faulty versions. This will build good will with the owners and help bring back customers to the vacant VW dealerships. Cost money? You bet, allot, but long term this would really help to turn things around for VW. They need it as they are bleeding to death on the table.

Seems Chris Doan, occasional visitor to C&G caught a Dodge Durango Hellcat exposed for the world to see. Seems the folks did not secure the tarp too good and HotRod is showing off the images of the beast with the new nose clip. Story Interesting seeing this nose on the Durango. Check out more picks at HotRod.com web site.

Cadillac is Luxury what one strives for in owning an auto, rich in Leather, woods, worlds most quiet and comfortable ride. Fit n Finish better than the rest. Luxury is something you never should find at a Chevy, Mercedes-Benz or any other dealer that is not just Luxury. You can have near Luxury level rides, but not top notch luxury when you compete in the lower segments. I never want Cadillac to compete in the subcompact space IMHO. ATS should be the smallest any auto gets under Cadillac.

Was just reading this on Bloomberg. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-20/mitsubishi-motors-plunges-after-improper-handling-of-fuel-tests Pretty interesting but nothing like what VW did. Here via over inflation of tires and tweaking things on the car to reduce air resistance they got higher ratings. Not unlike what FORD also did to get higher MPG ratings. This is recoverable fast and easy and minimal penalty. VW did was far worse and will hurt them long term. Best thing is to just buy the auto's back, crush them, pay the penalty and move forward. Best solutino for VW would be to give a current emissions legal equal auto to the auto owners and call it good. Talk about good will and how that would give them fans and social media good will.
