  1. This was sold recently at Barrett-Jackson http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1966-CHEVROLET-IMPALA-SS-CUSTOM-2-DOOR-HARDTOP-137955 The rims are 18" front and 20" rear.
  2. @Cmicasa the Great is this not what yours would look like?
  3. There are a number of Escalades around Seattle driven by the seahawks players where the cadillac dealership I go to has put on the Supercharger performance package so in essence building a V-Edition Escalade ESV. These rock with 600+ HP and Torque. True, It should have been an SS. I am thinking of the 6.2L with supercharger for the Yukon and Escalade. This way we have an Escalade V and a Yukon Typhoon edition?
  4. Sweet Hopefully they are going to do the V edition on the Escalade and maybe some performance edition for the Yukon would be awesome too.
  5. If the STS rims are metric, then just use a metric to standard rim plate converter. Might make the tires stick out a bit farther now that I think about it. The rims on there are nice, but it seems everyone has those. I do like the Torque II best.
  6. Nice Numbers, the Standard GLC63 is decent looking. Hate the GLC63 Coupe, no need for these ugly car wannabe cuv's. Wonder how many will really sell world wide? I expect the pricing to be high and as such limited sales. Be interesting to see what all gets cut from the portfolio down the road to make room for the onslaught of CUV versions.
  7. Here are the latest updated maps for the west coast EV highway 2017. West Coast Green Highway web site: http://westcoastgreenhighway.com/electrichighway.htm Washington & Oregon ElectricHwyMapREV_4-15.pdf California ev_charging_stations_ca2017.pdf
  8. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Daimler Scales back Hydrogen, Focuses on EV! According to the story from Autoblog, Daimler has chosen to scale back R&D into Hydrogen auto's and focus on EV auto's. This will not stop them from rolling out a Hydrogen GLC in select markets around the world where Hydrogen fueling facilities are available according to Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche. According to Daimler, pushing out 10 EV models by 2022 will help with reducing the emission pressure on their ICE product line allowing them to minimize the pressure and costs of transitioning from an ICE product producer to one of alternative energy, be it EV or Hydrogen, only the future will tell. Yet, this is telling in more ways than one might expect. Yes GM and Honda have teamed up to bring in their next generation of Hydrogen auto to a global market, but you have Daimler, Toyota, VW, Ford and even Hyundai which sells their Tucson Fuel Cell move R&D dollars to the EV world as seen by the Ioniq Trio. Does this indicate vindication for Nissan Leaf and Tesla S / X? Daimler has decided to change the Smart label to a pure EV label. So just how far will the MB product road map change after 2022? Could by 2025-2030 ICE truly reduce to 50% or less of worldwide sales versus EV?
  9. Do you not think that if GM did a marketing campaign that focused on an active life style in the TourX it would help it sell more. I remember Subaru did not do that well with their station wagon till commercials started showing the AWD going all over dirt roads and camping in unusual places. Buick needs a focused marketing pitch that shows the versatility of the TourX and the benefits of why you would want to buy this auto.
  10. Start Stop, Affects the Starter? So I have also wondered this and another web site actually got an answer. More info available at Green Car Report but to quote their story, the end result of what happens with the starter system on new auto's is as follows: What follows is his explanation of those technologies. (1) The gear ratio from the starter-drive pinion to the flywheel ring gear is optimized to make the starter's motor turn more slowly. This can be done without materially changing the design of the transmission or flywheel at all on existing designs. Crucially, this reduces starter-motor speed (in RPM), since 90 percent of starter-motor brush wear occurs not during cranking, but during the coast-down after the start has finished. If a higher-torque motor can spin more slowly, its coast-down time is shorter, increasing its longevity. Pushbutton start (2) The composition of the carbon and copper brushes on a start-stop motor differs from its traditional counterparts to increase longevity without accelerating the wear on the commutator. (3) Rather than rely on oil-impregnated bushings for the rotating assemblies, start-stop starters mostly use needle bearings. (4) The solenoid on start-stop starters decouples the mechanical action of engaging the drive pinion into the flywheel from the electrical action of stopping and starting the motor. This allows for a dedicated design to turn power on and off to the motor, optimizing contact design and wear, against contacts that have to be integrated as part of a spring-loaded plunger. This also reduces the electrical load requires to turn the engine, so that there is enough current available for accessories/lighting to operate during the start event. (5) Finally, start-stop motors are integrated with other technologies that identify when each cylinder of the engine will reach top-dead center. That lets the fuel injectors pulse and fire during the middle of a complete rotation of the crank, against having to wait for a complete revolution that lets the first cylinder reach that position to start the fuel-spark timing sequence. So their story also has an explanation about the RAM start/stop system and a link to their story on the Cadillac using ultracapacitors in their auto start/stop system. Very cool tech.
  11. BOLT has a Lovely 10" screen in the center and the 8" as the dash. Very nice. Opal Buick These look pretty much the same to me other than the steering wheel and a different programming of the dash screen. Center screen is the same. Seats also have similarities. So I wonder how much change other than color there really is.
  12. Like it and the rugged look they are going for. Reminds me of the Eagle 4WD, only much better!
  13. So built both a Ford and Dodge and They are pretty close in price, I would rather have a V8 but have to say you get more in the package with the FORD.
  14. I invite you to test drive a 2017 Explorer Sport Edition. The Sony Premium sound system and instrument is pretty nice. Back seat room is very roomy as my 6'6" tall 280lbs frame was able to sit without my knees hitting the seat in front of me. My daughter and son's girlfriend sat in the third row. Amy, my daughter is 5'8" and had plenty of legroom. Kay is only 4' 11" so tons of room but both thought the third row was very comfy. Agree that the XLT is a let down, dash design sucks and driving dynamics are Blah. But the Sport with the V6 EB moved and handled aggressive driving with minimal body roll for this SUV. My son and I both agree that the Platinum trim is over priced and not worth it, but the sport trim at $45K was a decent ride and handled so well. I also like the Durango, but my son is not a fan of the style.
  15. Yes, I would take a Ford Explorer over either of these two. I have test drove over the weekend with my son the Explorer Sport and WOW, was very impressive. He is looking to trade in his jeep for the explorer possibly or upgrade to a GC.
  16. Just enjoy watching the taillights of American and German auto's while you rev your tin fart can engine.
  17. @FordCosworth Thanks for showing these, they are freakin funny.
  18. Not up to snuff compared to the 640 of the V! But then badge snobs will not care.
  19. Read E63 as E43, Just called the Seattle MB dealership asking about this and was informed that the E63 is a future model that is not available for order or sale at this time and they have no further information than what MB has stated on the web site under the AMG listing. I was invited to come in and test drive the inspiring AMG E43. So at this time, E63 is vaporware.
  20. Not according to their web site MBUSA.com They clearly state that the AMG E43 Sedan starts at $72,400.
  21. I honestly do not know how their dealerships make any money. How do you stay alive with the lights on selling so few products? They are not Apple of the auto world.
