Switching tactics
GM has been testing a private share feature for friends and family also on the BOLT. I think in many cases the future due to cost of autos will be families and friends sharing an auto in some cases. This alone just continues to prove what many here has said that MB is nothing more than a Toyota, GM, VW company and not just a pure Luxury maker anymore.

And it still tells me nothing about the type of auto it is.

Bought a New Car
Have to agree with what you say balthazar, I see VW and Fiat alongside the roads here in Washington state than any other auto. Yea, they sell cheap and have great deals but they seem to break down far more often than any other auto I have seen.

Other than you who lives and breaths MB, put yourself in the shoes of the average consumer. Other than a badge snob who feels MB is the best in the world and must have it just because the number is bigger they might think it is better. Everyone else, S73, S83, S93, S103, etc............... What does it really tell you about the auto? NOTHING! You and I both know the future is changing to be Hybrid and EV, so this becomes even more important as a person who DOES NOT know MB in detail cannot tell if this is a car, SUV, CUV, Van or Truck. They cannot tell if it is a coupe with 2 or 4 doors, cannot tell what propels the auto, etc. etc. etc. This is the problem all automakers have brought on themselves with this stupid letter/number label that gives no info about the product. Many have all said we have lost our passion and distinctness in auto design, they all look the same more or less. This brings labeling of the auto to an even more important point. Ask a person what a G-Wagon or Escalade is and they know these are the top SUVs in MB and Cadillac auto lineup. Can the same be said for the letter/number mess? I do not think so.

MT: 2018 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS 1LE VS. 2018 FORD MUSTANG GT PERFORMANCE PACK
Ignore the future at your own peril young Padawan! Enjoy the ICE we have now, the future is a different beast and approach. Camaro and Mustang as awesome as they will have a future if they embrace change, living in the past is to doom them to the scrap heap! You know there is truth in this!

Great, another set of unimpressive makes no sense letter/numbered auto's. Auto's only a badge snob would buy as they are anything but Standard of the world.

MT: 2018 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS 1LE VS. 2018 FORD MUSTANG GT PERFORMANCE PACK
I understand what you are saying and the fast charging and increased density in the battery packs that has come out in the last year is what I expect to see in the 2019 as 2020 model EV Auto's. LG now has a 120kWh battery pack that can go into the bolt giving it a massive 476 mile range. I think we are about to see an explosion of EV auto's that will make allot of people rethink the need for an ICE auto.

OK, Family hauler, so is it in the car, van or CUV/SUV class and do not just say yes, but state which class please!

SCiB, 200 miles, 6 minutes, Coming 2019
So with Fast Charging of batteries being achieved and the breakthroughs in increased density of power by Samsung so that a current Li battery has 45% more power, this tends to tell me that we are looking at a decent decrease in weight possibly. This is what I found on the size of the Chevy BOLT Battery: Weight for the battery assembly in total is 960 pounds (435 kg). It utilizes 288 lithium-ion cells separated into five sections, 10 modules and 96 cell group – three cells per group. So if LG uses some kind of fast charge tech like Toshiba and can get a 45% power density increase, they could either keep the size the same and increase mileage by almost 50% so about a 350 mile battery pack or reduce the weight by about 400 pounds and still get a gain in mileage due to the weight reduction. Interesting times we live in from an auto stand point!

Yes Batteries are heavy and Tesla is using current Li Batteries that are very heavy and with that we have Solid State and new tech Li batteries that are much less. As I have posted to the alternative fuel section about Toshiba's new Solid State Batteries that are less weight and super fast to charge. They have two options that are going into production and will show up in 2019/2020 auto's. 200 mile battery pack recharges in 6 min 400 mile battery pack recharges in 12 min. Here was the story on Samsungs Breakthrough, 45% more power in the same size which means battery overall size is smaller for an auto. Here is the Toshiba story No matter how we look at it, we are pushing the technology of getting more power in a smaller package.

I think Pony will come back when they go EV on them and dump a ton of weight.

My two favorite tires are the BF Goodrich All-Terrains and the Michelin Defenders. They just handle Snow, mud, rain and dry weather so well. Yes the BF handle better Snow, Mud, Rain than the Defenders, but the defenders are much more quiet on dry roads and rain, but totally decent in snow, when I drive the escalade up skiing. Cannot go wrong with either one and they do last.

2018 Philly Auto SHow
Totally agree guys, I think the Tank / Submarine outlook is terrible. I know they did it to meet side impact standards, but hell the visibility is just terrible even though I love the car. Corvette, I love the looks, but already know I will never own one since my head always sticks above the top of the glass. I hope with the EV movement, that the Pony car segments can get wicked fast like a Tesla Roadster 2.0 but with better visibility. Tesla has great Greenhouse visibility.

Knowing Europe, they would say this was a people killer and illegal since it does not have those polite crumple points and scoop points to protect the average walking person. Forget about the fact that people need to pay attention to where they are going! Thanks for posting this car, it is really cool even though we all know it would be a massive 2 person only car the size of a Suburban. Yup, I am surprised it was a dodge as I could easily see it as a Chrysler.
