  1. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Tesla's World's Largest Supercharger Station Opens Tesla has been on a fast pace build out of supercharger stations around the world and in fact has two 40 stall supercharger stations under construction in California. Now comes word via a Tesla S owner Jason Man in China that they have opened up the largest Tesla Supercharger Station in Shanghai with 50 stalls, capability to charge 3 megawatts of power per hour. This is located in the Lilacs International Commercial Centre, Pudong district of Shanghai. China has committed to opening 10's of thousands of charging stations over the next 2 years adding to the extensive network offered by Tesla across China. Tesla has stated they now have over 1032 Supercharging stations world wide with over 7,300 Superchargers. Their network while focused on their own auto's is available to others for a nominal fee in some countries for charging by non-Tesla EV auto's. According to other news reports, Tesla has signed a deal with China to build and bring online within 18 months a second GigaFactory in mainland China to support Tesla's rapid growth of EV auto production in China. 2. Doh, I think many here on this forum knew Skoda would be stupid to enter the US. Plus as VW focuses on EV auto's, it makes sense for Skoda to cover the entry level ice auto and fill in other areas for VW since not all 3rd world countries have the electrical infrastructure in place to support ev auto's.
  3. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com HoverSurf, Newest addition to Dubai Police Force The first video has no audio and the second video is what was released by the Dubai police and is in their native language. Yet with that the Russian company that built the Hoversurf bike has stated the following about their bike and what it can do for the Police in Dubai. The bike can carry 300kg of weight or 661pounds. The bike has a top speed of 70kph or 43.5mph. The bike can fly full speed for 25 minutes. The bike flies at a height of 5 meters or 15 feet. The bike can fly by itself remote controlled for 6 kilometers or 2.73 miles. The whole purpose of this is that the police in trying to get to a scene of an accident are usually held up in the same traffic. This will allow them to fly over the traffic to get to the accident faster. The bike also has 360 degree cameras allowing for better monitoring of issues including but not limited to finding reckless drivers, scanning via facial recognition software for criminals or persons of interest. The future police is here today. HoverSurf web site
  4. First stop making ASSumptions about a car that NO ONE has had a chance to drive yet let alone find out if they tune it for the German race track or not. Secondly, this car will sell to those that are not looking for a small tight fit auto like the ones you mentioned. SMK you know as a 6'6" tall person 280lbs, I am for the most part not fitting in those above except for the Vantage which I actually have gotten into and fit comfortably in and able to drive it. Every auto has their benefits and based on looking at the polestar 1, Hybrid so for those wanting more green they will have it. Looks a bit bigger inside than the others, and who knows what else, dash layout, fit n finish of chosen interior materials all will play a roll in those buying it. So far just as you are a rabid fan of MB playing devils advocate, I can say that MB excluding the S class has questionable size, performance and materials inside and out. Let's take a professional wait and see. Comment on what you can see, your thoughts on what they have released and leave the assumptions till after the auto is available to be driven and tested. Personally, I hope Polestar 1 is a hit, I like the exterior look, I love the layout of the dash and what looks to be a roomy comfortable interior. I hope they deliver on the fit and finish and exciting quality driving experience.
  5. No Loss and No Gain, I bet they will wait till the Hybrid / EV auto's are here and then move to a number system like A6 60 for 60kWh battery pack or A6 100 for the 100kWh battery pack. Makes sense and works for Tesla. Hope GM does a Bolt SS that has an enhanced software tune to get more HP / Torque and a bigger battery pack.
  6. Yea, new ubber expensive HQ where he is never really at and FCA is actually incorporated in Sweden or some other northern germanic country. Very crazy way to minimize paying taxes while raiding the company for personal gain. All about Sergio the Dictator Idiot.
  7. R.I.P. to American Brands around the world as FCA wastes the profits on trying to restart Italian Socialist crap build models.
  8. But, But , But that would mean they would have to stop in-breeding and removing brain capacity with each generation. Maybe that is not a bad thing when you look up the WV resident pictures:
  9. Sorry Cubical, have to totally disagree as I know many private and sponsored Tesla drag racing. YouTube shows this is a real thing.
  10. Nice looking car, but sooooooo Tired of the Coupe look on everything especially 4 door sedans.
  11. MB got handed their lunch by Tesla.
  12. Guess their CEO is doing about as good a job as Sergio at FCA.
  13. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com VW EV Pikes Peak Racer Tease for 2018 VW attempt to put their Diesel gate behind them was shown today in their press announcement of their return to Pikes Peak racing to set a new world EV auto record on June 24th 2018 in Colorado. This 12.4 mile long drive climbs 4,700 feet to the summit at just over 14,000 feet above sea level. The current record for VW to beat was set last year by Rhys Millen in an EV Prototype at 8 min and 57.118 seconds. VW News Release
  14. Thank you, it is really weird that nowhere on their build system do they talk about the alarm system or on their overview of the auto. Very weird, looks like a basic alarm with some annoying things as most are just basic contacts and noise with a built in reset. Seen better 3rd party alarms than this, I would think pretty easy for a criminal to overcome fast.
  15. Our Soldiers truly need more help when they come home than they are receiving today.
  16. True, and he states for them it will be government driven. With China moving to ban ICE auto's, it is not a matter of if, but when they will have to have a pure EV to meet demand in their largest market. To quote their CEO: CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös has confirmed that the new platform has been designed with electrification in mind. “We are more regulator driven than consumer driven,” Müller-Ötvös admitted at the Phantom press launch. “We might well see, in the next decade, some Asian markets closing down city centers to combustion engines completely. And then, of course, [electrification] is a must.” Not if, but when and they clearly know they will have to offer their product in pure EV form. Even they admit that their auto's are not driven long distances but mostly short inner city use. EV's make perfect sense as you have a very large auto that can handle the batteries and take advantage of the massive torque to move quickly.
  17. @balthazar Just checked their web site, no security system at all offered by the company. Have to do a 3rd party install. Cadillac at least has a basic security system. Configured up the GTS the way I would want it for my own driving as a Hybrid and I was over $160K. Ouch, talk about pricey.
  18. Interesting idea, have the 360 degree camera system record everything for say 3-5 min when the alarm goes off. Cool tech for protecting your property. Wonder if Porsche thought of it and did it or not?
  19. Makes one question and wonder why a dual clutch auto is not able to handle more torque in a VW. Corvette seems to have gotten the supercharged V8 to handle torque and HP at a high RPM so again I question why auto is lower torque than manual. Also If I missed something and Corvette is also doing the same thing higher torque in manual compared to auto, then I also question why.
  20. Hope not as that would be a failure for VW as everyone seems to be adding awd.
  21. True, just think my SS Trailblazer looks better than this car cut off does. Maybe it is the look of a wheel chock that I just do not like about this VW. Reminds me of a door wedge.
  22. @oldshurst442 I get what your says olds, but the VW at the top of your thread to me looks like it was just cut off with a large meat knife.
