My thinking is that you can have a mini pickup truck that can hold 3 adults in base cabe config plus another 500 to 1000 lbs in the bed. I think with EV mini pickup truck you could easily have AWD of a performance monster with up to 1000 lbs payload capacity in the bed and have a quiet sleeper Syclone pickup. Yup loved the GMC Syclone pickup, just think the fun that would be for hauling around 5 kegs in the bed! Yes, it is amazing to see in Seattle how many people still have mini pickups as they do not need mid or full size trucks even with owning a house and the tight parking on streets, etc. Inner City living I still believe people want a truck for various chores without all the size and bulk. First Auto OEM to build a 200 mile range EV Mini Pickup will catch considerable market share.

Clarification grasshopper, in the mid size truck class, to me V6 is a requirement and should be there. In the Mini Truck class, 4 bangers only with and without turbo is fine. When you look at the mini trucks of the late 70's and 80's the Chevy Luv, Ford Ranger, S10, etc. they all did the job they were needed for which for many people was going to Home Depot type stores, small jobs. I still believe a mini truck market can exist and even be a EV truck that handles 500 to a max 1000lbs.

WTF, Toyota, have you ever done some REAL market research? What is up with the big mouth billy bass plastic front end? This is the ugliest I have ever seen an auto.

OK, is this a German made car or Asian made? Not really sure as you could cover the VW badge and I think it would just fade into the overkill crop of 4 door based coupes. Interior I have to say is one of the nicest I have seen in a long time from VW and really like the layout of the dash, not too simple but not overkill busy and too much like some asian brands. Agree with Cubicle that those seats look like preformed floor mats and I wonder about the comfort level

We'll based on thinking this over, I am having to go with a tie if everything being equal, money to pay for the project along with time to focus on the project. Based on what I see, I think balthazar is ahead so far. Yes his brothers is easier for numerous reasons but balthazar has stated what is done already and I think has a bit more drive to get this completed based on the two photos.

Nice evolution of the car. I like the N version and glad they have it. Interesting to see how well it sells in this day of CUV madness.

Nice looking as far as coupe based CUVs go with a bulbous nose on the front. Much better grill than in the past. Better and should sell well for them. Interior is nice, love the HUD system. Dash is ok, but center stack design is a bit weird to me and reminds me of things best left unsaid. At least the buttons are clear for use under the LCD screen, but with all the nice attributes like Leather and wood, that dash LCD screen comes across to me as a cheap afterthought along with that weird center stack.

Yup, His is a 17 and I see the difference in shifters. Cadillac XT5 shifter looks more like his but seems to me to have that move it and always come back to center position mode.

I honestly am not really sure how I feel about this auto, the front has me just blank with what I feel other than the hood looks like it is trying to fold space! Interior white is just a head shaker for me. Why give an interior that will show every bit of dirt, marks, etc. It is best looking only at the initial build, humans are too lazy to properly keep it clean and nice looking.

Thanks for posting the link, I have to agree that color will make a difference and now that I have seen the various versions, I am firmly in the DO NOT LIKE camp of this truck. Ugly, worst design to date for the Chevy truck. Here's to hoping GMC gets it right!

Agree, I do like the hide away pull down corner steps, this might even be better than the in bumper step of GM, though it does give another point that could catch on offroad and get torn off.

Interesting looking at what everyone is writing about the Ram lineup. Have to agree with you that the Grill is not a winner winner chicken dinner for me. In fact the black grill is a total bust for me as just terrible, Chrome just might be their best looking grill. The more I look at the pictures, I have to wonder due to the rather large LCD center screen and the excessive buttons, levers, dials if we have not hit a tipping point in going to far like Acura has done with way too much of both. http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/news/2019-ram-1500-preview-article-1.3756898 https://www.autoblog.com/2018/01/15/2019-ram-1500-revealed-detroit-naias-hybrid-45834/ Autoblog has a really in depth pictures of the various interiors which look good and the new powertrains including the hybrid. Still way too many buttons. Interesting the up close pictures of the headlights with the degree of inner and outer rotation so that the beams follow your steering wheel. Maybe the patens are up on the Tucker designs and now the auto industry is using them all. Sad, they really screwed Tucker who was a visionary. https://www.forbes.com/sites/samabuelsamid/2018/01/15/2019-ram-1500-gets-standard-48v-mild-hybrid-on-all-gas-engines/#6db1e1bb7e9e Forbes also seems to really dig into this story and seems positive about the new truck lineup.

ev design EV Trucks / SUVs Designs - New Revolution of Style?

@balthazar That rocks, reminds me of some pickups from the 60's I think. Also if memory serves me correct, Europe and the Asian rim has trucks like that. Totally agree that the added bed would be awesome and it gives a totally new design style to the trucks. I really like it! Thank you,- 4 replies
