  1. With EV's, I can truly see this happening as the complexity of ICE goes away, the skateboard concept allows one to really make radical changes to the body fast, build it, then bolt it to the Skate board and plug in the power / communication connections.
  2. What I do not get is why waste effort putting 3 models on the Smart lineup? MB should learn from the mistake Toyota made with Scion and just merge Smart into the MB brand, have the EQ lineup being as I stated above. EQ1 - 2 person EV car EQ2 - 4 person EV car EQ3 - 4/5 person CUV compact EQ4 - 5 person CUV Mid Size EQ 6 - 7/8 person 3 row CUV EQ7 - 7/8 person 3 row full size SUV EQ-T - 5 person EV mid size pickup Since I never understood the naming convention for AMG versions, you can just add a W to the end of each one for WARP mode. This way MB saves money on the wasted Smart branding and advertising, though I never have seen advertising for Smart cars and they keep their idiot naming convention for their new EV lineup of auto's.
  3. I figure they merge Smart into the new Generation EQ EV lineup from MB.
  4. This makes me think this is a stop gap measure only till MB has EV's in their own product line and then Smart is retired much like Toyota did with Scion as they absorb the 2 person car into the MB badge lineup.
  5. I like that Idea Smart 1 - Current 2 person car. Smart 2 - 4 Person Sedan Smart 3 - 5 person CUV Smart 4 - 4/5 person Crewcab mini pickup.
  6. BOLT still the better deal, actual price per the web site is $24,550 for a 58 mile range EV with only 110/240 charging, no fast charging or level 3 available. Charging time is 6hrs / 3hrs or 80% charge in 5hrs / 2.5hrs depending on 110 or 240. This has zero appeal as even the web site says range will diminish with heater or AC use. So you really might have a 40 mile range auto. If living in the city, then maybe, but as a commuter car, no the BOLT is the much better pick for an EV.
  7. I would so totally agree but the wife likes me in Tommy Bahama Polo's with the collar down. Ultimate Yuppie Song
  8. Does that mean I should not be wearing polo shirts with the collar up?
  9. But Yuppies are all entering their 50's, so a 5 series is where they are supposed to be at this age, not the 3 series and the 3 series lost it's driving Machine cred's to the ATS! Yuppies are out of date in regards to the lower end auto's and Millennials are now all about the EV, Smartphones and using Uber or Lyft.
  10. Both are pricey with no V8. Makes one question the value of buying new rather than waiting for a Lease return and getting it used, low miles and hopefully with the V8.
  11. @FAPTurbo Nice write up, good to get another persons perspective on these little Joules! So at 6'3" do you consider yourself long body and short legs or long legs short body? Just wondering based on your comment of how you fit in the 500e?
  12. The whole Chinese thing makes me wonder if it did not start with an advanced race visiting this planet, finding it nice and deciding to setup living here only to fall into decay and loose their advanced ways with their emperor system, etc. Before god existed and Christ became all the rage and the bible was written by man, there was the Chinese and their advanced way of doing things. The time line I find interesting as you can look at many version and they all have one problem. The constant rediscovery of certain things like the Kite. We have many unsolved advanced items found on this planet that carbon date back before Christ, his father Yahweh or god or Jehovah and all the manipulation of humanity by corrupt humans supposedly working for god and his church with a drive to take your hard earned money. Aztec's, Peru, Egypt, the list goes on with many advances and some very strange unresolved old artifacts that make one wonder just what happened to these places? How did certain items come to be when Humans were so un-advanced? From old Baghdad Batteries, to The Antikythera mechanism – a Greek ancient computer, The Sacsayhuaman walls and more. http://www.zmescience.com/other/most-amazing-unexplained-artifacts/ We must continue to challenge ourselves and get our butts off this rock to explore the universe. Otherwise we die. DC has proven this with the old stagnate keep it the same and do not work with each other thinking. Maybe it is time for a new Revolution.
  13. A Chevy BOLT in those same cities makes more sense for the same price than a Smart EV.
  14. Do not forget Steel. After all they came to America, bought the steel plants, disassembled them part by part and shipped them back to China, rebuilt them and then made them better. Crazy, but it worked for them.
  15. Talk about a great debate that would happen though! I think you would do well to do a "Common Sense applications of Auto Technology that GM is missing out on!" Volt Power Train Bolt Power Train 110 versus powered USB ports everywhere Mini Stage Coach Doors with flip up glass versus full flip up auto tailgate HUD on every auto Aero applied to cars List could go on, but a good write up with this as a starting point and then invite others to contribute what they think GM is missing or skipping on their auto's versus having tech in one auto, but not expanding to the whole company. Cool
  16. The price they charge for a Smart is a joke and way better options out there. They should just kill it, MB will have EV's according to SMK in every product line, so why waste money on a smart. Only in Europe does these cars make sense since they save everything historical and do not have space for comfy bigger auto's. Buying a Smart equals questionable decision skills.
  17. I would expect to see massive kill off by the Chinese as they buy up existing FCA, then tell each product line to use the following Chinese platforms and kill off the Fiat crap. Jeep is moving forward with Grand Wagoner as a Hybrid so it can sell in China and I expect them to debut a Jeep GC Hybrid. I know many Jeep fans that would like a GC Hybrid, first 100 miles pure electric and then the generator kicks in to give you 400 miles more range still pure electric AWD system. I can see this selling very well. This is why I am stumped as to why GM has not put the VOLT power train into each CUV line of products across all 4 families.
  18. Deliver the concept, not some water downed ultra conservative BS! Deliver the I.D. Crozz and you will gain market share and fans.
  19. Big Mouth Billy Bass! I agree the chopped top narrow windows, just does not do it for me.
  20. So China will give probably zero percent loan to auto companies to push outside China. This makes sense and means that FCA could be China owned next year. Gonna be interesting as the Chinese are aggressive and clearly the Communist party wants their share of world control. Be interesting to see how the US deals with this.
  21. 36 cents per gallon, Cheapest gas I remember.
  22. Agree with everything here especially about the technology gadgets and looking / waiting for the EV's to land. BMW is truly wasting money on this A1 FWD appliance.
