  1. So the Blazer LT I am thinking will be the base FWD 4 banger appliance, the RS is sweet looking, love the blacked out look and Premier will be the chromed gody looking package me think. Wonder were the SS version is and will it get the TT V6? ? I like @Drew Dowdell thinking of a credible Blazer Trailboss Edition.
  2. Rarely do we ever get a true concept produced as a production auto. Course they did get close with the VOLT and then modernize it in gen 2.
  3. Today at lunch I ran over to Wendy's for a quick bite and saw that even in their senior years, once an asshole still an asshole BMW driver / parking. For dinner took the wife and daughter to Red Robin. Parked right next to a lovely CT-6 with the TTV6 motor. They are sharp and I noticed others were looking at it.
  4. Most of the Batteries are liquid cooled that are getting Ultra Fast Charging. They also have really changed them with the move to solid state batteries and gell pack batteries from the traditional liquid Li battery. I am sure there are more changes coming. You should check out the battery stories I have posted in the alternative fuel section. Here is just one of the latest changes happening in Battery Tech: Did this on the new Ultra Fast Charging battery packs from Toshiba. 6 min for a 200 mile battery pack and 12 min for a 400 mile battery pack for charging.
  5. We now know that this is a Blazer for the US market. Hoping for an SS V8 version or a lighting fast SS EV version. Be really cool. Course I bet they would sell the butt load of the Blazer with the Volt Powertrain getting 100 mpg plus.
  6. I really lke the style and look. As an existing owner of a Trailblazer SS, the interior is way better based on the pictures. I wonder if we can get them to either go with a EV or Volt Powertrain or at least an SS model with the V8. I will have to say this has similarity to the FNR-X that has the VOLT Powertrain that China will get. FNR-X
  7. Only Pantywaist motor is the ICE version. Volt powertrain is solid strong and you know it.
  8. That is the same picture I have seen for a production version of a VOLT power train FNR-X.
  9. Totally agree that the trade war is going to mess up existing plans. In some regards things will get better for all, in others, things are going to hit home like a bomb going off. Interesting times we live in, very interesting! ?
  10. I get what your saying, but I also think most people today tend to think short term in regards to the last 10 years or so and not history long term like allot of us. But I get it. Thx
  11. How is this misleading? All Volvo's in the past have had a diesel option and with this one, there is none as each model will get revamped and diesel will go away.
  12. Cloth wrapping , got it, crispy, flammable, yup, need to replace it. cool, thx. Yup a bum Side job. Better safe than sorry.
  13. Yes, sorry for the side trip. Seems that as per @Drew Dowdell stated about the reduction in tariffs for imported auto's that the percent would be 15% down from 25% and now it seems that in an update, China just dropped it to 6%. http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/22/news/economy/china-cuts-car-tariffs-imports/index.html Seems that by 2022 the restriction of outside companies having manufacturing plants and ownership without a 50/50 Chinese partner will go away too. This is good news for GM and building of more Cadillacs in China.
  14. Chevy BOLT has their detailed service manual available on a USB thumb drive for $200 versus Tesla yearly subscription fee of $3,000. https://electricrevs.com/2018/06/05/revealed-secrets-of-the-bolt-ev-service-manual/ Some cool stuff on the bolt.
  15. Seems some flattery is in order for Tesla, as Chargepoint showed off at the Elevate Summit conference in LA a new 2 Megawatt charging connector that has similarities to the Tesla Semi charging connector. This new connector utilizes 4 pairs of liquid-cooled 500A DC charging pins. The goal is to have a standardized connector for EV Class 8 trucks and airplanes. This would allow you to have chargers that could handle from 100 to more than 860 volts of power quickly. The benefit of getting this standardized soon is so that all auto makers could plan to support this much higher level of charging even on normal cars. Imagine charging 600 miles of rang in about 5-10 min the equal electric charging of an ICE auto. https://electricrevs.com/2018/05/14/chargepoint-vs-tesla-megacharger-connector-comparison/
  16. Ultra-fast Charging of America In Europe they call it XFC or extreme fast charging, yet in the US, the agreed term is UFC or Ultra-fast charging. No matter what Electrify America, the company created to spend the VW settlement dollars on building out the US EV charging infrastructure has signed contracts with two well known companies (Black & Veatch and SAI Group) that are experienced in building charging systems. By June 2019 we will have 484 locations with 2000 UFC charging stations. This build out will cover a majority of the most common traveled roads allowing EVs to go long distances. SAI group will cover 16 states and Black & Veatch will cover 24 states. Part of the Dieselgate settlement of the US with VW is that they would invest $2 billion in building out the US electric charging infrastructure. This is phase 1 of 4 phases over the next 10 years, each phase costing $500 million. Based on when all this is to be completed, by 2028 you will have 8000 charging stations in almost 2000 locations. If the EV auto supports UFC charging, your looking at 80% recharge in 15 minutes for the average 310 mile battery pack. All charging locations will have at least 1 CHAdeMO 50 kW / 100 kW connection and the rest will be 150 kW to 350 kW CCS charging locations. Payment will be made via credit cards, ApplePay, AndroidPay and a smartphone app that is being released by Electrify America. Stated cost to charge will be no more than 30 to 35 cents per minute depending on the state. Electric Revs Story Electrify America Announces B&V, SAI Group as Design-Build Firms.pdf
  17. I can respect that, yet as one that does go off road, I would take the Trailhawk over the Overland.
  18. Yup, Like what your saying but doubt it will happen. GOP want to cut SS and Medicaid but hands off as they ramp up spending on Defense. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/business/wp/2018/06/19/house-gop-plan-would-cut-medicare-social-security-to-balance-budget/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.8c523dad66de We spend way too much on defense and attempting to be the Global police force and we spend way too much on the Socialist liberal agenda of feed everyone, cloth and give a roof over your head which is also hurting us. Help enough to get people going but not give them everything and lets honor our retires that worked and paid into SS and Medicaid. Two areas that SHOULD NOT be reduced. BACK ON CADILLAC - I like the constant growth of the Chinese market and really hope this continues for GM there so that Cadillac can get back to their glory days or at least close to them.
  19. I have to say I like the looks, from the Tail lights to the Thors hammer headlights, I like how it all comes together in a nice flowing style. Interior is great, as a solid flowing mix of technology and actual switches. I have to say I like this allot.
  20. Really Cool story on the Original Preston Tucker! http://www.automobilemag.com/news/saving-prestons-tucker/ Very cool to read about it. Interesting to come to find out that the original wiring was flammable. The owner is doing a full restoration on it and will not drive it until the wiring is all replaced. That is a Bargain considering the cost new. So a 2yr lease maybe then is what it was traded in low mileage.
  21. Totally Cool Ride! Nothing Poser about them!
  22. Crazy price as someone just paid $70 million for a Ferrari 250 GTO. I agree with the story that it is probably the best looking Ferrari they ever built. http://www.automobilemag.com/news/the-classic-view-a-1963-ferrari-250-gto-reportedly-sells-for-70-million/ Interesting read on the history of the car, those that sold before it and why the price plays a big part on the history of the car, number of races ran and the final place they achieved.
  23. I would not bet on that. Cadillac is picking up steam and doing better than many would think in China. Latest info on Cadillac in China:
  24. Shanghai China GM Advanced Technical Center Driving the Company to Zero Emissions According to the latest press release, GM is on track to release from 2016 to 2021 10 new energy vehicles. A mix of EV and Plug-in hybrids with GM doubling this from 2021 to 2023 adding in all new Zero tailpipe emission auto's. This effort is being led Executive VP and President of GM China Matt Tsien. The Shanghai R&D site will help led GM Globally due to their battery development and large new battery production site. The Shanghai Battery Assembly Plant is a mirror of the Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant in the US and will help fulfill GM's push for Zero emissions globally ensuring a clean green planet for generations to come. GM has released in China the Cadillac CT6 Plug-in, Buick Velite 5 extended range EV and the Baojun E100 their lowest cost electric vehicle with a top price of $7999.99 for a fully loaded 2 person auto. The two versions of E100 are priced at 46,800 and 59,800 yuan. The E100 has a 200 km range or 125 miles on a charge, a perfect inner city commuter car. The E100 has a maximum speed of 100 km or about 60 mph and they come with a 3yr / 60,000 km bumper to bumper warranty and an 8 yr / 120,000 km powertrain warranty. 25. FNR-X Concept - China only or preview to American Market Version? Based on both stories, the FNR concept car WOWed the Chinese market in 2015 and yet never made it to market. Fast forward 2 years to April 2017 and you go from a car to a CUV in the FNR-X concept that Chevrolet says will led the push on Plug-In hybrids for the Chinese market. The plug-in hybrid system seems to be taken from the Chevrolet VOLT and applied to a slightly larger CUV form. The release from GM states that the FNR-X has the ability to from from V mode (Versatility) to S mode (Sport). This also affects the ground clearance and suspension tune allowing the driver to choose type of ride they want. The auto comes with everything OLED lighting to digital display using low power consumption products throughout the whole auto. The aerodynamic performance of this auto is further enhanced using a series of front and rear spoilers, side skirts that move in accordance to the driving mode selected. The CUV has a next generation HUD system. The interior rear seat is a split folding seat system to maximize hauling capability. The FNR-X incorporates the latest safety systems from Chevrolet. The auto site reviews say this compares to the C-HR's in regards to the tall nose, rising beltline, slanted front and rear glass. Access into and out of the auto is enhanced due to the Suicide doors. Chevrolet says this is focused on the Chinese market only and will not come to the US. Yet they did say that some things learned from the chinese concept will be applied to a Global based version. The question to be asked is it is now a year later with no concept shown for a Volt based version of a CUV for the Global or US market and no other options than the Bolt for the US. GM where is the EV and Plug-in concepts or production versions that have been promised? Worth the read is the Car & Driver story where they interview former GM design Chief Ed Welburn and his prediction and take on this CUV. He states it has a very SAAB like vibe to it. Do you think this will sell in the US as a CUV commuter auto? Could this also provide a compact EV Pickup truck that could service the inner city and suburban households?
