G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
Configurator is up online and you can also put down your $2,500 Euro or $3,074 US dollars deposit for your 600HP EV Coupe based on closing friday 3/16/2018 exchange rate. https://www.polestar.com/se/configurator?id=00Q0Y000009OW1pUAG -
Totally makes sense as the US is market #2 behind China and always will be now. Good that they are using their single MQB platform for a global auto.

Lincoln News: Rumorpile: Lincoln Continental To Be One and Done?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Found this video today. Seems the Aviator is back to go with the Nautilus aka old name MKX. I see some think this is all about trying to take the brand and grow it in China. Interesting- 58 replies

Lincoln News: Rumorpile: Lincoln Continental To Be One and Done?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Very True, USA Average Man is 5'9" tall China Average Man is 5'5" tall 4 inches makes a big difference in how an auto fits people. Wonder how many Conti are sold in China compared to the US?- 58 replies

And as you state, that is why Zipcar, BMW and MB car service program makes sense for inner city living. I do not see the GM program working in the city, maybe more of a suburban thing, but then people living in the suburban likes their own auto's so again, Just not seeing this working. I would love to have facts on if the Cadillac NY program is actually profitable or not.

Very cool, Have not seen Paisley in a long time and it works on this. I can go for the white interior with the Paisley seat section and lower door trim that would help hid dirt and foot hits that leave dirt marks. Smart layout. Love it!

Lincoln News: Rumorpile: Lincoln Continental To Be One and Done?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
I agree the pricing is very high for what you get, but cutting the size down will not help as it already has a very tight interior for larger people. At this point, drop the MKZ, then drop the price of this car by $15,000 and sales should fly. Price it where everyone else in the mid level market has their mid priced auto's so that there is added value of a full size 4 door car at a mid size price giving it added value and a perceived mid-level luxury.- 58 replies

Lincoln News: Rumorpile: Lincoln Continental To Be One and Done?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
WOW, based on looking at average sales price for the Continental you get $52,888 so with only 18,846 sold, that equals a total of $996,727,248. So here in the 3rd year they have not even fully recovered R&D costs let alone marketing and sales cost. Ouch, I would have to say then that auto that sell less than 25,000 a year are money losers. This would imply many of the expensive high priced luxury cars that only sell a few hundred a month are losing money, not making it for the auto company.- 58 replies

Yea Home Depot and Lowes are pricey if you need it more than the hour compared to U-Haul has the truck for the day for $20 bucks. Then for people who do not have a truck and decide to buy yard stuff and live close, they might as well then rent it, move their purchases to the house and come back and drop the truck off.

Buick News: Buick To Drop Name Badge Beginning in 2019
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Yea had to explain that one to the wife and a few friends who wondered why MB would badge their transmission and not have a 8-matic or 9-matic. -
Lowes and Home Depot offer trucks for $20 for the hour rental. Same with U-Haul and others. Have the auto you love and want to have nice and when needed rent the rarely used truck or van. I see no reason to have you own an auto and then rent it out letting other trash it. BMW Program Reach Now - https://reachnow.com/en/ Mercedes-benz program Car to Go - https://www.car2go.com/US/en/ Zipcar program - http://www.zipcar.com/ These 3 are huge in Seattle and I think a good way to go as the cars do get dings, damaged, etc. Zipcar seems to have a nice wide selection of auto's compared to the other two with their only auto options but at least they have car to CUV. So I think that is a better way to go than renting out your own personal auto.

Yup and part of the same family no different than a CTS, CTS-V, etc.
-
Guess they do not sell well here as a private carrier was taking it away for inner state transport. There is also the overkill attitude which is everything Tan is overkill just like everything black is overkill. Accents are nice, brown on the black is nice. I do agree that Cadillac needs to expand their interior choices.
-
Totally disagree with you. Tight, too small on the inside and fit n finish is on par with Cadillac, MB, BMW. They must be different where you live as they have not been that striking here in Seattle. Just another Predator faced auto from Toyota. Seats are hard and lacking to me for comfort. Layout of the dash is also a bit strange. Lexus lovers love Lexus but I really wonder and will be interested to see how many they sell as I think Lexus should have invested this in improving the autos they already had first.
-
I understand price points and class segments for sale, but I still think the CTS-V and ATS-V are better than this car from interior to exterior and performance. So no value in this auto for what they charge. But then Lexus has not built anything yet that has impressed me.
-
ATS just shows how much better value it is compared to this auto. 464 HP & 445 lb-ft torque. This will beat that over priced ugly lexus.
-
I have to disagree here that this car is about $20,000 over priced in comparison to other like auto's on the market and grossly under powered with even less Torque. Cadillac is a superior auto with better value all the way around.

Buick News: Buick To Drop Name Badge Beginning in 2019
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
I get the point of an export auto able to go to any market if they do not have to worry about having a specific badge on an auto. Buick on US bound auto's versus no Buick on all the rest, makes it easier to fulfill orders if your not having to deal with a Name or no Name on the auto. Makes business sense. -
Yea, I have seen how Millennials as well as older people have no respect for the BMW and Mercedes-benz rental car programs on the street of Seattle. The auto's are a mess. No way I would want to let others trash my auto.

You will love the Envision, they are awesome CUVs. My sister is really happy with hers and I know it has made me a fan again. They are great roomy very quiet auto's. -
Thank you, I bing'd and googled it but did not come up with anything that made sense. Guess I might just be a bit too nerdy of an engineer to think that low into the gutter. Course now that I get it, I can laugh about it.
