Cadillac News: Spying: 2020 Cadillac XT6 Makes Its Spy Photo Debut
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Yet MB does this with cheap plastic ass versions of their own cars. What is wrong with a company using a standard platform to build unique auto's for their product lines? Luxury, Mid and Entry level products. This is SMART Management. -
ev cuv Camaro or Mustang EV CUV?
G. David Felt posted a topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Camaro or Mustang EV CUV? We have heard from Ford that an EV auto will be part of their auto lineup and that a Mustang AWD EV could be part of that lineup. Ford also stated that the mustang name could make it onto a CUV or at least something other than the traditional 2 door pony car. They have pretty much stated that this would be a Mach1 Mustang Based EV SUV. Fast forward a few month to the Chevrolet Dealership meeting where many things were shown off to them and slipping out to a forum from an attendee was that they were shown a performance EV crossover with similarity to a Camaro. Is GM following Ford and planning to have a Performance Camaro CUV? Pulling from Motor1 and thoughts from InsideEV we end up with the following potential CUV like versions of a Camaro & Mustang. Seems 2020 is going to be an exciting EV year with options that many never had before in their lifetime. What are your thoughts on these potential EV Concepts / Production versions? Cadillac News: Spying: 2020 Cadillac XT6 Makes Its Spy Photo Debut

Interesting hood bump on this mule. Expect SMK to complain that this is another rebadge Chevy / GMC / Buick while he praises his MB as luxury first. Gonna be an interesting auto to see what they really put into it. Hopefully a first rate interior with the Family Style. Should do really good as a fit between the XT5 and Escalade. I do agree with Car & Driver that the TT V6 would and should show up in this XT6 or 7 whatever they call it. What I do not get is why do the car site both think it will be with an 8sp tranny and not have the 10sp that GM helped create? Right now, Cadillac should have the top end Tranny and motors in all their auto's. 10 sp everything with Turbo this and that and NA engines as base. -
Agree Goodyear was good in the past, suck today, never have heard a new Goodyear that did not scream bloody murder on cement. Michelin are just awesome, quiet and long lasting tires. Plus they rock in snow and rain.

@balthazar Thought you would find this interesting, EV conversion on a 1957 Ford Fairlane and how the company the paid for this made sure to keep the core of the auto intact. Conversion gave this classic 228 HP and 391 LB-FT of torque. A considerable improvement over the factory OEM Power train. http://www.thedrive.com/news/19540/if-electric-cars-are-the-future-what-about-our-classics At the end is an interesting EV conversion on a Jaguar E-Type

Buick News: Buick Velite 6 To Come In Plug-In and Electric Flavors

Very Cool info on this, I was wondering about it when I posted the pic above in the Buick Enspire thread. Thanks Bill, -
OUCH, OUCH, OUCH With that said, I can see the VW family of auto products making a fast change to EV to build a new auto image. Gas, Hybrid and EV is VW product family portfolio clearly. Diesel is dead with this company.

Cadillac News: de Nysschen Out As Cadillac President (UPDATE)
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
You are so right, The Drive credits him with moving Cadillac to NY. http://www.thedrive.com/news/20247/cadillac-ceo-johan-de-nysschen-steps-down They also blame him for being late to the game with having enough CUVs and cracking heads with Cadillac Dealerships who have been asking for more product of what the public wants to buy when MB has 7 CUVs and BMW has 6 and here you have Cadillac only now getting to 2. Sounds like the Dealership network had a hand in him being pushed out.- 28 replies

XFC Reality - Xtreme Fast Charging Tesla is the current GOLD standard of EV auto charging. Their roughly 400 North American Charging stations handle 120-140 kWh charging that allows Tesla to brag about their 90 kWh battery packs recharging in 1hr compared to 10 hrs for a Nissan Leaf, 8hr for a Chevrolet Bolt if you home charge. Tesla's customers have had this perk and until now been able to brag about it. Tesla made sure they had this by using a proprietary plug that kept other EV auto's from using the Tesla Network. In comes IONITY, the European group consisting of Porsche, VW, BMW, Daimler and Ford. This is a 400 plus Xtreme Fast Charger network being built now in Europe. A 350 kWh network that covers from 200 to 920 volts at 350 Amps of charging that will allow EV Auto's to refill in 15 min or less. This allows EV auto's that need from 50 kWh to 350 kWh of capability to be handled by these new Liquid cooled Charging stations. The technological breakthrough is in the Charging cables that connect to your EV Auto. These are light, thin charge cables that remove the heat load by liquid cooling in high amperage use. These XFC system charge aproximately 20 miles of range per minute or 300 miles in 15 minutes. How Does This Benefit North America, Specifically the US? This is where the proprietary Nissans Charging (CHAdeMO) and Tesla interface are about to Lose the EV Charging race. The XFC interface uses the CCS (Combined Charging System) based on the J1772-2009 SAE standard. This has been adopted by pretty much every country in the world as the standard except China where they have this standard, Tesla and their own Chinese standard as the 3 plug types that have to be supported at this time. The US is expected to move forward with Nissan changing over in the near future. Porsche is installing 500 of their XFC chargers across the US at dealerships and various EVgo sites. There is also Electrify America, a subsidiary of VW and funded by the $2 Billion plus funding they have committed to for installing XFC charging across America in addition to all the EV charging infrastructure funding that was paid to each state in the settlements. From Level 2 to Level 4 (XFC) charging will get installed from inner city places to suburban and especially highway stops that can support long distance driving by EV auto's. The future is bright for the upcoming onslaught of EV auto's including the Electrify America's Chargers as shown below. The Drive Story SAE J1772 Org SAE J1772 Info

Diminishing Returns and NOT the Global Standard to be in! Yes after the 90's the excitement and fun of watching the race went in the toilet. So true, could have been the end of the 90's in reality.- 58 replies

Always amazes me how people cannot seem to park in the middle of the parking spot and end up on one side of the other right against other auto's. The one thing I did not like about all 2 door cars like this is how big the cars are for access to the back seat and the number of times people would open them and hit leaving a door ding in the auto next to it. Another reason for parking square in the middle of the spot for best available door opening room.

They still are, I have new Michelin's on both my Trailblazer SS and Escalade ESV and they rock, handled snow better than any other tire.

Totally agree, TSA Pre and Global Entry are the only way to go for air travel. Found this cool story, did not know that Toyota was adding a Launch Gear to their CVTs. Seems a real gear is the only way to go from a dead stop but then CVT for top end. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-technology/a19431445/toyota-cvt-with-1st-gear/

So playing with the configurator, I see no other seat options. The seats are all the same, you just choose the adjustment level with or without massage. Maybe I am missing something but there seems to only be one seat design in a 10 way / 24 way depending on trim and then the perfect seat with massage 30 way. @ccap41 & @Cubical-aka-Moltar I agree that more ability to get the perfect position is always wanted by everyone. For me it is the style of the seats the wife does not like. They only have that one seat design with the split leg section that she does not like. Happy wife happy life, so right now I have to wait for a better Slade especially since the Germans cannot seem to build a real full size luxury SUV. And the G-Wagon is NOT a Slad or Navi.- 58 replies
